I love my career. The hardest part of what I do is dealing with management trying to send me somewhere else before I even finish my own route. But being an ups driver is a blessing and I thank God every day for blessing me to be able to support my family!🙏🏽

It's a challenge at times but if you stick it out the benefits are sweet. Retired after 32 years delivering packages in 2006 in Washington State at 54 years old. My friends were jealous, but I had other things I wanted to do. I've spent the last 18 years perusing things that interest me and make me happy. Still going strong and looking forward to another 20 years of sucking up the pension checks. 2024 now and living the good life. Plan for the future, invest wisely and you will get the free ride you have earned.

Forgot to mention the part about coming home late to families and missing your kids choir concerts and football games because your route goes over.

I mean if you tell your center you need to be out at a certain time, they usually be cool with it. You just got to let them know ahead of time.

I’ve been loading trucks for about a year now and I’m considering trying to go part time driver and work my way up to full time from there. Only thing is my wife and I have a baby and she’s not working right now so I’ve also been looking for other full time jobs. Praying and giving it to God and letting him lead me but I really want to get that full time driving job just not sure how much longer I can work part time and support my family!
Thanks for your comment and sharing your situation. Look, I totally understand you having to support your family while working part time. That was me in 2014, I left driving trucks full time to come to UPS. I also turned down FT gigs with Fedex Freight and Fedex Express for a PT UPS gig. I had to supplement my income with an additional PT income until I was able to drive full time. There's always a will if you just be resilient. You've got this, you'll figure it out, I'm rooting for you, Good Luck!

I’m going to school the 21st or the 28th finished the pre course. So got 2 to 3 weeks. It was 5s verbatim and 10s as a summary but now they changed it and the 10s are verbatim. It’s kind of nerve wrecking learning the 10s in a couple of weeks.
I understand, but it's better than having just one week. Just commit time to learning them. I will tell you this, it's one of the things that keeps people from becoming drivers. You will definitely use them, but it's also a way to weed people out. I plan on dropping short videos with real life scenarios of the 5s pretty soon. Good luck and report back.
Currently working at a Warehouse as a Sorter, I've only been in for 2 weeks. And so far I think it's pretty decent! I'm naturally a hard worker, so the workout doesn't bother me. Though sometimes it can get pretty chaotic, but I feel like that's the case for any position inside. I want to become a Driver, and I'm honestly not sure if my current position will make that easier or harder for me. Hopefully it'll all happen much sooner than later!
Your channel is very insightful as I look for knowledgeable sources on UPS and how they run things!

It will get chaotic at times no matter the position. But, stay the course. If you want to become a driver eventually, you're in the right position. Just sign the driver bid list every time it comes (usually at least once per quarter). Don't forget to sign it EVERY time! Good luck and keep me posted!
And as far as pay goes you 100% earn that money especially during peak. Even on Wednesday and sometimes other days my 3-4 trucks are packed shelves and the entire floor with irregs. Management sucks for us in the warehouse but I get it they have people they answer to as well, and no union to back them up. I like UPS better than I liked being a Correction Officer

Im about to get out the army as a truck driver and feel as this would be a rather easier transition for me 😂
I've been loading inside at Twilight for the past year now, got the call along with like 20 others to go Cover Driver or FT. Shit has been booked this week and next for road tests are concerned, hoping to have Integrad by early-mid September. Working inside loading trailers in 100-120 heat(often gets that hot inside trailers here in the south) definitely helps condition you to handle the job physically. Luckily...or unlucky depending how you see it don't see much of heavy inclement weather here in Sothern California. Hoping to get past Integrad and hurdles of being one of the lowest seniority cover for a while till I can rise up the ranks. For year in to get a call...is nice. Heck, I don't even know how many people will even pass Integrad too! Been saving up for the chance for this to happen...and if I can drive all of peak....I can finally relax most of the year and not have to work 70 hours a week with two jobs when just driving half the year and working inside the other half is the same income regardless.
I've been off and on jobs past 6-8 years unsure what I want to do. Thought school was for me, didn't work out too well. I wish I had started at UPS way sooner given how good of a career it can be if you stick it out.
Congrats to you and thanks for your comment. It seems like you have the right attitude. When it comes down to it, like I tell everyone, it depends on the staffing need at the facility you're working or applying at. It seems as if you're in a good position. Like you said, not everyone will pass Integrad, which is cool, everyone isn't intended for this job. It's a battle of attrition.....only the strong and persistent will survive. Stay in there and grind it out and all of the dead leaves will eventually blow away. That's pretty much how life is in general. Hope you do well. Keep me updated!!
At least you guys get paid well. I'll be honest, I don't think I could work that job with their efficiency standards and all of the stops. I give you guys a ton of credit. The only time I moved fast was when I played sports. I am a toll collector on the NJ Turnpike working a midnight shift at a slow exit. You guys probably get twice as many stops as I do cars on any given shift. I have a lot of time to steal. It's built in.

150 stops you are lucky.. Guys up here in Frisco area.. 210 220 (300 packages) In the heat.. Cutting routes and making others miserable.. Glad you have it good..

I like the job too and when i have to work more hours i dont mind those 9.5 grievances thats free groceries

I have been a part time supervisor at UPS for about 2 months now and I’m considering trying to get back into union to be a part time driver. Both have pros and cons to them but at least being a driver you don’t deal with people and you’re just doing your thing. I’m a great hands on worker and was a loader for 5-6 months until I became supervisor so I think I’d be a good driver. The only things I’m nervous about are the long hours bc I want to have a life outside of work. That and I see how some workers mess up drivers’ trucks too. Any thoughts?
AHHH, thanks for you comment/question. In my honest opinion, I think driving is the best job at UPS. I turned down FT manage very early in my career. You'd probably would be a good driver, but you won't know unless you tried. Yes, it might be long hours........but my thing is this.......work the long hours when you have to, get paid, take your 2 days off per week and you'll be fine. Driver pay can be a great enhancement in quality of life. Keep me posted.
@@BrickedOutMedia well said, another way I put it too is that any blue collar work will be long hours but you’ll still be hourly and get great OT which helps get the best pay per year. I have a college degree in marketing but found what I don’t like to do which is sit at a desk or a computer, I don’t like sales, I want a break from customer service bc people are so rude usually, and I’m better off doing my own thing bc management at my last job were raunchy and I work better alone kinda. Most the people I work with in management are fine but higher up management in corporate companies are known for making things worse for others or are selfish. I also don’t enjoy training all the new hires we get a lot bc they either don’t show up, don’t have a good work ethic attitude, and are not intelligent or educated so it mentally is irritating a lot of times. I just don’t like dealing with people more and more as time goes on. I like hands on work a lot and I’ve also driven 16’ and 26’ non cdl trucks so I think I’d do okay. The only concern I have is how well my body will take it when I’m 30-40 years old or so. That and trying to have a life outside of work
I got offered Preloader + DOT/TCD - 0340 - Preload Tues-Sat 4:30-17:00 External. Road test this coming up Monday, any advice ? In the Dallas area
@@Asap_TE NICE!! Definitely take that. You’ll be considered PT. You’ll work as a preloader when there’s no work for you to drive. But when you drive, you’ll make 85% of top pay. For the road test, just drive normal. They want to see how you handle the vehicle. Don’t do anything illegal, don’t be distracted and you’ll be fine. Good luck and report back!

I've been with UPS for 8 years, I start my 30 day packet the first week of October. It's not my first time doing a 30 day packet but I NEED this job this time. I'm so nervous.

What’s a 30 day packet? Do y get paid for it? I have road test tomorrow, just want to know what to expect afterwards.
@@WalkwithPrints after a road test you have to pass a DOT physical which isn’t difficult and then you go through one week of integrad training. After you pass all that you start a 30 day packet or probation period.
@@WalkwithPrints It's basically your first 30 days driving. Look at it as a probationary period, you need to refrain from any crashes and/or injuries. You typically haven't "made it" until you make it through your 30 day packet.
I got a felony will they hire me? I already did my road test passed.. I got a clean driving record.. my vision is 20/40 ,,just waiting on there call or email..any advice?

That's probably accurate. You can't go straight to feeders.

Thanks for the comment/question. My tips would be: Clear your mind, be willing to learn. There's the other way and there's the UPS way, you'll learn the UPS way. Focus and learn the materials they present to you. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Smart people ask questions, good luck!!

Does the ups driver earn 40$ per hour after 5 years or so?
Thanks for your question. UPS drivers earn top rate (which is now around $45 per hour) after 4 years of becoming full time.

Does it still take 8 years to work in the warehouse to become a package car driver?
There's no such thing as "typical". You may think your experience is "typical", but sorry to tell you it's not. To answer his question, it varies from building to building. There's many factors involved including STAFFING, volume levels, the number of people with more seniority that wants the same position, how many positions need to be filled, etc. I talk with many drivers around the country, even in other countries, and the experience varies.

I personally know a driver that was in the US on a work permit, he started working for UPS and eventually became a US citizen a couple years ago. I'm not sure if they ask him for it. I can ask. You should also be able to find it on the job posting.

Any tips for the ups road test
I'm going to assume this is a post training test or post integrad test. Be confident in the methods you learned during training, use them, it's your time to show off. Of course don't be distracted. It's probably not that long, so make sure you're executing early and throughout. Ask the supervisor about how long it will be. One third of the way, ask them how you're doing, then make adjustments accordingly. Good luck, let me know how it goes!
