    Worked in a different warehouse when I was 18 and I did driver helper 2022 Christmas. Now 19 in a smaller warehouse keeping my head down and continuing to push through these early morning preload shifts. The videos are very informative and helpful with my goal to be a driver.
    I always have to tell myself, all drivers had to go through the same thing to get to that level. Thank you for posting.

      Thanks for your comment. It seems as if the staffing in that facility is always good enough to not have to bring people in. Many people at the top don't timely retire, and everyone else don't quit. Also, it's hard to get terminated for good because of the union. If that's what you really want, it might be a tough decision to relocate closer to the other location. But, of course that's a huge deal. Good luck and keep me posted!

    • @BrickedOutMedia

      The tractor trailers, we call them feeders, you have to drive package car first. Then it goes by seniority. Once you're a permanent package car driver, you would have to sign the bid list to go into feeders, and like I said, it goes by seniority. Realistically, it could take years, because feeder drivers don't retire often. I hope that helps.

    Just seen in Houston they are hiring for seasonal drivers at Mykawa & Stafford location. Mykawa is 5 days and Stafford says 6 days (sometimes a 6th day). Does this mean the stafford location has a lot of work, and maybe it is easier and faster to start as a FT driver? Trying to see my options and what would be best. It seems stafford gets more work than Mykawa station..

    • @BrickedOutMedia

      Limit your time between stops, such as....... 1. Package selection time. Have those upcoming stops close to the bulk head door and know how many. 2. Have the correct number of packages so you're not doubling back to the package car or going back to a stop. 3. Customer interactions...some can talk, but you don't have time right now. 4. Limit dead time like scrolling through your phone or diad. 5. Break when you're on break. When not on break, it's go time. I hope this helps, good luck and report back!!

    How does a TCD turn into a FT Driving position exactly? I know of guys who have been TCD for couple years. Then how does FT Driver get to bid on a route? I get its Seniority but is there anything else to it?

    • @BrickedOutMedia
      @BrickedOutMedia  3 місяці тому +1

      Buildings and/or centers promote TCDs to FT drivers whenever the staffing situation indicates. If TCDs are getting a certain amount of driver punches per year, that's how the building or center know how many more FT drivers are needed. From there, they choose from the FT driver bid list, and it goes from there.
      As far as the routes, each center has a certain amount of bid routes. Once they go down the seniority list every 2 years, you bid on a route. If there's a route still available by the time they get to your name, you can choose that route. For instance, my center has about 80 drivers with about 58 bid routes. Now, most days theres more than 58 routes on the road, but only 58 are available to be bid on. I hope that helps.

      So let's just say that facility has to promote 4 people to RPCD. You sign the bid list for RPCD every quarter like you should. If you're in those top 4 in seniority who signed the bid list, you'll get in. Then it's 4 year from that point to top pay.
