When I played FNaF, I recognized this song right away from one of my favourite operas. Before and still now, I would listen to this song because of the opera "Carmen", but for some people (mostly the young ones), they would come and listen to this song because of the famous horror game, Five Nights at Freddy's. Even just one single game can make this song have more attention, but sometimes, for a different reason. I am not trying to judge any of you but i am just stating my opinion. Still, i dont care whether or not you came here because of FNaF or the song or the opera. At least the song is recognized by both people an children more. :)
I actually came after trying to find out why the melody whistled at the start of Tintin and the broken ear something that's been stuck in my head since I was a child, was in Fnaf suddenly.
thats a great outlook you have, great sir.
i just wished more old people could appreciate their favorite songs being popular again like you

I wouldn't have found my favorite song.
The virgin Jose vs the chad Escamillo
I remember being shown this is my high school music class. I turned to my friend and said to him “hey it’s the tune from five nights at Freddy’s!” Lol. Good memories.
Bizet: "The toreador is a shallow shiny twit and his music reflects that - only the shallowest would like him."
Everyone: "We likey!"
Bizet: "... philistines, all of you!"
Also... Escamillo is the only character in that love triangle who isn't an asshole.
Well, he is that. He's basically the cardboard cutout that triggers the action between the real characters. The music, however, is most catchy.
@@jhudsu1 I wouldn't say that. Of course, he's one, but as he's basically a prop, that doesn't matter.
Now, Merimée's version of Carmen and José -- *there* were some 🤐holes! Bizet had to clean them up quite a bit, or the audiences would have reacted to them in the same way those of a later year reacted to the characters in *Purple Noon* -- magnificently done, for something that was never worth doing in the first place.
I don't believe Bizet wrote that. Listen to the love song he sings to Carmen. And Carmen's response. Someone's been hitting the manzanilla too hard.
To add to my comment below: I know Bizet would not have used 21st century language, but I don't believe he would have entertained that evaluation of Escamillo. Does anyone know just how difficult it is to learn to be a competent bullfighter? The discipline, the skills, the sheer fearlessness? After experiencing Jose's obsessive ineptness Carmen was looking for at least competence. In those times women had few options. They married, hoping that their husbands could take care of them and any children born, they entered the convent, where they might be bored but safe, or they took their chances on their own. They'd have to have some distinct quality, like beauty, such as Carmen, or it wouldn't work. Gads, can you imagine the dissertations music students must have written analyzing opera plots?
He sings so low and beautifully and projects his voice so well I wish I could sing like him some day
I agree. His low notes are focused, bright, projecting, brilliant... That is what low notes must be (usually) in choral and operatic settings (yes, that includes in pop/rock/country/whatever choral ensembles). Cut on the low, diffuse on the high. That's the formula for success (with exceptions for effect, yes?)

im right here BOI!!
In my opinion Nouri makes the best version of Escamillo that I've seen. His interpretation of the song and movements are magistral. I wish I could see this version of the opera completely full.
