As many have guessed, this is indeed the
musical interlude that plays when your lanterns
are extinguished in the first entry in the iconic
    fear-inducing stageplay series, Five Sequential
    Evenings at Sir Frederick Fitzgerald
    Fazbearington's Abode.

"Gentlemen and officers, I thank you all !"
Your toast I can return it to you
Señor, señor, because with the soldiers
Yes, the bullfighters can get along
For pleasure, for pleasure, they have combats !
The arena is full, it's Celebration day !
The arena is full from top to bottom
    The spectators losing their head
The spectators calling out to one another loudly !
    Greetings, screams and fuss
    Roaring with such fury !
Because this is the celebration of courage !
This is the celebration of people with heart !
Come on ! On guard !
Come on ! Come on ! Ah !
    Toreador, on guard !
    Toreador ! Toreador !
And know well, yes, know that while you fight
A black eye is looking at you
And that love is waiting for you
Toreador, love, love is waiting for you !
    Toreador, beware
    Toreador, toreador
And know well, yes, know that while you fight
A black eye is looking at you
And that love is waiting for you
Toreador, love, love is waiting for you !
    Suddenly, they are silent
They are silent, ah what is happening ?
No more screams, it's the moment !
No more screams, it's the moment !
The bull jumps out of the bullpen !
It soars ! It enters, it hits ! A horse rolls
    Bringing down a picador
"Ah ! Bravo ! Toro !" cries the crowd
The bull goes, it comes, it comes and hits again !
    Shaking up his streamers
Filled with fury, it runs !
The arena is filled with blood !
They run away, they go through the gates !
It is your turn now !
Come on ! On guard !
Come on ! Come on ! ah !
    Toreador, on guard !
    Toreador ! Toreador !
And know well, yes, know that while you fight
A black eye is looking at you

When I played FNaF, I recognized this song right away from one of my favourite operas. Before and still now, I would listen to this song because of the opera "Carmen", but for some people (mostly the young ones), they would come and listen to this song because of the famous horror game, Five Nights at Freddy's. Even just one single game can make this song have more attention, but sometimes, for a different reason. I am not trying to judge any of you but i am just stating my opinion. Still, i dont care whether or not you came here because of FNaF or the song or the opera. At least the song is recognized by both people an children more. :)

@@jhudsu1 I wouldn't say that. Of course, he's one, but as he's basically a prop, that doesn't matter.
Now, Merimée's version of Carmen and José -- *there* were some 🤐holes! Bizet had to clean them up quite a bit, or the audiences would have reacted to them in the same way those of a later year reacted to the characters in *Purple Noon* -- magnificently done, for something that was never worth doing in the first place.

    • @shirleyrombough8173
      @shirleyrombough8173 4 роки тому +15

To add to my comment below: I know Bizet would not have used 21st century language, but I don't believe he would have entertained that evaluation of Escamillo. Does anyone know just how difficult it is to learn to be a competent bullfighter? The discipline, the skills, the sheer fearlessness? After experiencing Jose's obsessive ineptness Carmen was looking for at least competence. In those times women had few options. They married, hoping that their husbands could take care of them and any children born, they entered the convent, where they might be bored but safe, or they took their chances on their own. They'd have to have some distinct quality, like beauty, such as Carmen, or it wouldn't work. Gads, can you imagine the dissertations music students must have written analyzing opera plots?

I agree. His low notes are focused, bright, projecting, brilliant... That is what low notes must be (usually) in choral and operatic settings (yes, that includes in pop/rock/country/whatever choral ensembles). Cut on the low, diffuse on the high. That's the formula for success (with exceptions for effect, yes?)

      The bull throws himself out
      Bounding out of the bullpin!
He throws himself out! He enters.
      He strikes! A horse rolls,
      Dragging a picador,
Ah, Bravo! Bull! The crowd roars!
      The bull goes, he comes,
      He comes and strikes again!
      Shaking his dart-stabbed neck,
      Full of fury, he runs!
The arena is full of blood!
They save themselves, they pass the gates
It is your turn now. Let’s go!
En guard! Let’s go! Let’s go! Ah!
      Toreador, en guard! Toreador, Toreador!
And dream away, yes, dream in combat,
That a black eye is watching you,
      And that love awaits you,
      Toreador, Love awaits you!
And dream away, yes, dream in combat,
That a black eye is looking at you
      And that love awaits you
      Toreador, love awaits you!
And dream away, yes, dream in combat,
That a black eye is looking at you
      And that love awaits you
      And that love awaits you.
      Toreador, love awaits you!
      Love! Love! Love!
      Toreador, Toreador, love awaits you!

Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre,
señors, señors, car avec les soldats
    oui, les toreros peuvent s’entendre;
pour plaisirs, pour plaisirs, ils ont les combats!
Le cirque est plein, c’est jour de fête!
    Le cirque est plein du haut en bas;
    les spectateurs perdant la tête,
les spectateurs s’interpellent à grands fracas!
    Apostrophes, cris et tapage
    poussés jusques à la fureur!
Car c’est la fête du courage!
C’est la fête des gens de coeur!
    Allons! en garde!
    allons! allons! ah!
    Toréador, en garde!
    Toréador! Toréador!
Et songe bien, oui, songe en combattant
    qu’un oeil noir te regarde
    et que l’amour t’attend,
    Toréador, l’amour, l’amour t’attend!
    allons! allons! ah!
    Toréador, en garde!
    Toréador! Toréador!
Et songe bien, oui, songe en combattant
    qu’un oeil noir te regarde
    et que l’amour t’attend,
    Toréador, l’amour, l’amour t’attend!
