Mavic 3 Drama Summarized and My Opinion Changing

  • Lots of weirdness on the Mavic 3 launch, loudest voices being the angriest when in reality most people are using it even with unfinished features and app
My opinion is changing pretty quickly about it, i'm getting attached heartemoji.jpg but I ALSO think that's because I just hate having to haul around the inspire 2 in all of its madness.
Prores vs. H.265 don't worry about it, you won't notice a difference. For 95% of people i'm really suggesting you get a Mavic 3 regular.
ALSO DJI announced in January they will have a new combo with regular Mavic 3 and RC Pro controller as well so maybe hang around for that.
I didn't like spending so much on a smart controller before, but this one has made me change my mind. Makes the experience MUCH much better.

A lot of Mavic 3 especially Mavic 3 cine owners are disappointed go watch some videos of them (and they do own the Drone) speaking of how much of a disappointed of a drone this is and some returning it.
Come DJI is kidding with us they released a 2, 200$ drone with the same controller with the 400$ Drone mini 2. With the same APP and no dedicated wheel on the controller to control the aperture like all the professional drones and cameras have.
The only thing that it has is a great camera nothing else!
No matter how much their drones cost we run and buy them.

Have you attempted a hyperlapse with the timed shot feature that is available? I've gotten close to creating something I would publish but not there yet. I throw it in Cine mode and put the focus mark on a target. I then keep my speed as consistent as I can and focus on keeping the target in the square. I came up with a few decent runs with it, however I have just ended up playing around with the video and flying at night. Wow this is incredible in low light.

I appreciate your review, actually still flying my Phantom 4 Pro because I haven't been impressed with any Mavic cameras until the Air 2S came out, now Mavic 3. $1,000 difference isn't really an issue with me, but in reality, if you're mainly shooting photos, is there that big of a difference between the Air 2S and the Mavic 3 to justify $1000 difference? I use it commercially as I have my part 107 mainly for commercial real estate.

I'm still relatively new using a drone. I notice your videos were shot at 24 fps. I watch many other videos from drone experts and will hear they shoot at 60 fps, or at least 30 fps. Is 24 fps generally what you like to shoot at? Thanks for the vid, very helpful and informative!

    • @QuickAssTutorials
      @QuickAssTutorials  2 роки тому +2

Always 24fps, It just feels smoother and that’s what everything in film is shot on as well.
With 60fps it also means less data per frame because the data rate Is still the same, it just has more frames to cover it inside of each second.
I guess now it doesn’t make as much of a difference anyway
But for 60fps for slow motion, I never need to slow my footage down, if anything I have to speed my footage up sometimes
It looks a little more local-news to me as well, less cinematic. It’s also become a point of measurement just because it’s there and not because it’s realistically applicable (in some peoples reviews)

I love the Cine, it's people desperate for views. I have actually unsubbed to 3 different channels piggy backing on the hysteria, but subbed to yours for calling it out. I shoot with drones 3-4 times a week and have logged well over 500 miles on my previous 2 Mavic 2 Pros. There are a lot of posers out there speaking like they have a ton of experience and really they wouldn't know a decent drone if it hit them in the face. Think about what was happening less than 10 years ago... Remember the Phantom 2? You buy this bad ass drone, strap your favorite GoPro to it, fire it up, calibrate the compass, wait for satellites and then watch as it promptly takes off on it's own and flies back to China with your favorite GoPro. Ok, ok, it did not fly back to China but seriously that was the common joke in the DJI Forums at that time. A half kidding conspiracy we were throwing around to make light of our frustrations.
I don't know where you are located but if by chance you are in or around SoCal, I'd love to collaborate given the opportunity. Other than that keep it up brother, great stuff.

I agree that the Air 2S is great value. I do feel like DJI have a really amazing platform here, but they need to put the power in the people's hands in regards to the app and allowing us to customise more things. The customisability of the Go 4 app was much better. I do plan on getting a 3 eventually, just waiting to see what they can change in the Fly app first, also not going to buy it until the regular Mavic 3 can be paired with the RC Pro as a purchasing choice.
Basically awaiting to see if they can make the software and firmware match the quality of the hardware. The second camera is the only thing you can question about the hardware, wasted space that could have been used for a better quality shorter focal length, or just have the one camera. They need to allow a shortcut tap to focus button, fix the second camera, and add app controls to make it feel more pro.
They're missing sales at the moment.

Everything you said it’s true, problem is the Mavic line was pretty well known for being affordable and very powerful for its price.

I think your review is the most reasonable I have heard. I entirely agree in that the Mavic 3 is not overpriced. The same week I got my Mavic 3, I also got a new Sony A7iv camera. That camera body alone cost more than the Mavic 3 - and I have a first class camera with lens that flies!

I love how you said “feels more like a Mini 3 Pro” haha. Then they actually release one.
