Hey all - a few amendments to this video. Because I was testing this firmware early, a few things have changed to the final release version.
The actual version number is 01.00.0700 and does NOT include these changes I mentioned:
1. The outdoor mode for DJI RC Pro is not in current firmware.
2. The current firmware does not support compatibility of Mavic 3 and DJI RC.
Hoping that DJI adds RC compatibility soon!

So how did you get it on yours and others don't? Is your firmware a beta version or something?
@@speedball10169 exactly, he demonstrates these changes so either they are only available for him or they should be available for all of us.
Billy is testing beta software version .0642 and it has some features that didn’t make it into the .0700 version. Perhaps those beta features will come out in a later release but didn’t make the cut in this .0700 release.
The Beta version he is using you’d have to be a beta tester to utilize. I hope that clarifies things.
hey Billy! why the heck doesn't the Zoom camera have 24 frame per second capability? It has 25! I know you dig 25 but I'm a 24 frame kind of guy so I'm a little sad. The Zoom camera remains useless to me
What DJI needs to do is hurry up and release the SDK to developers so the Mavic 3 can be used for mapping work and to give us true waypoints
I couldn't agree more. I'm used to using waypoint missions. This is still missing, so in my opinion we're not quite there, getting closer though.
But the rolling shutter is okay for mapping work?
@@jaylistudios Its not ideal of course but a lot of mapping software makes adjustments to take into account for the rolling shutter in drone photography
So true, this now is really only update left that is really needed. I personally don't use waypoints myself but I know lot of others do.

TRIPOD TRIPOD !!!! TRIPOD MODE WE NEED IT on mavic 3. Billy if you have any chance, just tell them to make tripod mode, or (speed limit) on cine mod!!!!
But other than that, finally i don't need to switch to explore mod and click till 7x optical zoom. This is so nice... and everything else besides. Big scale update finally.

OMG, it looks like Color Display Assist no longer changes the histogram! Yaaay! This was one of my biggest gripes about the Mavic 3... that, and zebras not working in D-Log. Those two issues made it extremely tedious to use. Super important to have ProRes LT as that's plenty for much of my work. I'm not a fan of having to wait for these features as I just sent my Mavic 3 back to B&H. I might have kept it had this firmware update been sooner. I also thought the stock remote was quite an insult.
Hell, its about time, lol. Yet the Mavic 3 is holding up, to me...my main go to drone! Excited to try out the new changes.
Hoping some of these improvements will spill over to the Air 2S.
Not a chance. DJI wants you to upgrade... but the good news is the Air 2S is a fantastic drone regardless and connects to sats in seconds unlike the Mavic 3!

Very good information as always Billy, but was there a improvement on the GPS lock it still takes a while for the GPS lock to say home Point has been updated from the last time I flew my drone was 3 days ago I know you didn't mention it but was there a Improvement on that also?

Just ordered mine can't wait, the latest firmware update that fixed last few issues finally (7 zoom camera, GPS lock time, etc.) got my attention now. I knew this drone would be amazing, but like a lot of electronic manufactures they released it before fixing most of the bugs. Having a 4/3 sensor and 7x zoom camera in an affordable drone so you don't have plunk down money for say Inspire 2 w/X5S gimbal & lens for $3000 more is crazy good. I know lot of people complained about price when first came out but I think it is bargain for what you get.
Its great that Dji now add support to mavic 3, like compatibility with mini 3 RC, and i HOPE its will be available vice versa like RC PRO from Mavic 3 Cine with mini 3 pro, because they use the same app to fly. Would me great if u can adress that future to Dji.

@Lon Denard I saw a video where they had aircraft at airport with the Air2S and M3 and Air2S reported them after take off and M3 didn’t
Have they corrected the image over sharpening that plagued the early release? It would be nice to be able to control sharpening and reduce it a bit to add it in post as desired.
I have also heard that Tripod mode will be returning via firmware update soon, in the form of an adaptable maximum speed setting in cine mode (thanks Mr. Bloom). If they keep listening to the people and properly making this a pro drone then I will buy it in a heartbeat, they're very close to having my purchase and restoring my faith in them delivering a more pro drone in a small form factor.

EDIT: The remote control customisation is a major upgrade, a massive step forwards for the drone.
No, a further update is still needed to allow fine control adjustment in the "bypass" mode. Fine tuning IS working in "brake" mode but NOT in bypass mode, the mode most often used. I understand DJI did make a recent firmware adjustment for this sort of thing but clearly it did not affect the bypass mode.

Only thing missing is Active Track while using ProRes. Not sure if it’s feasible given the limitations of the on-board processor.
Is HLG shut off in "Explorer Mode"? I'd like the 7x camera to get either HLG or D-Cine. Actually, I'd be SUPER happy if they had the ability to switch back and forth between cameras and maintain the same gamma curve. Asking for HLG from a 1/2.3-ish sized sensor is asking a lot because of it's noise floor. But D-Cine IS usable on the same size chip on the Mavic Zoom. Being able to bounce back and forth between the two cameras that have a matching color tone would be amazing.
Yup, those features should have been there from the beginning. That's the primary reason I hesitated to upgrade from my Mavic 2 Pro. That said, I'll probably hit that order button sometime in the next two weeks. Thanks so much for your input on this and other drone related subjects. BTW, what Micro SD card do you recommend and yes I'll order my M3 using your link.
Was thinking the same until I read rumours about the Mavic 3s end of 2022.
@@karolykrausz5534 Up until this latest software update, I was thinking the same thing as there were so many daunting issues and prolonged missing/promised features...especially that satellite connectivity problem. I believe this current update demonstrates a strong commitment to the M3's future; hence, DJI would be foolish to release an "S" version not even a year after the initial M3 release. That would be admitting failure and would surely draw ire from those who have already taken the plunge. Albeit, as tech progresses, a next-gen M3 will eventually be a reality. It's all a question of when and DJI's future marketshare quest and direction. I'm betting on at least a two+ year viability for the current M3 product line. Being new to drone photography, I purchased a Mavic 2 Pro less than a year prior to the M3's November release and am not sorry. It's been a great drone and learning experience, even today. The only question for me is do I keep the "loaded" M2 Pro w/Smart Controller or sell it?
Hello Billy, can the new controller be readily used with multiple drones? I've got a Mavic 3, and I'm on the verge of buying a Mini 3 pro with RC controller. It would be excellent if the one controller could be used with both drones if they were both registered to the same owner without having to 'jump through hoops' to do it. Just have it automatically recognise which drone is currently switched on, I hope I've explained myself properly?
Do you think waypoints will ever be included in an update? IMO that feature needs to be added in order to claim "complete".

Hi Billy, question on Mavic 3 , I am on the latest firmware update according the app in the Pro Rc controller, but there is no zoom in photo mode, only the telephoto lens options. Is this correct or is something not right with my Mavic 3 Cine drone ? In video mode I can zoom with the thumb wheel on the Hassey and telephoto lens. Why is camera not zooming in photo mode ?
Great update Billy. Love it for my Mavic 3. But one question: why does dji make the new dji rc compatible with the Mavic 3 while we still have to wait for the RC pro to be compatible with the Mini 3? Is this a strategy of DJI so we are going to buy the Mini 3 with this new RC? Very customer unfriendly.
Once sales drop off for any product is when they start releasing features that make them compatible with other products. I would like to see that Portable new RC compatible with Air 2, Air 2s, and Mini 2 as well.
Hell I want to see all of their camera drones compatible with FPV goggles, but that is probably never going to happen. Being primarily and FPV guy I can guarantee we would all be better photography drone pilots with goggles. I think the latency would get us into trouble. It might be weird, but I am sure we could adapt.

Hi, what´s your take on the H264 vs H265 codec? I have the Mavic 3 and for editing i´m using a Mac, M1 Max. From what I can see, the H264 is 200 Mbps vs the H265 is a bit lower? But which one is actually the better one from a quality perspective? Ignoring smaller filesizes in H265 and workflow etc.

I have a question. I'm looking to get a Mavic 3. Does the Mavic 3 have Waypoint in Video mode yet? I really enjoyed that on my Mavic 2 Zoom.
Do drones have white balance modes that you can select manually, NOT auto from your transmitter?
Nifty mode is irrelevant because if you use it and crash you can't use your insurance to get another drone. I'm not spending another 2k to replace a drone after a crash, that's why I bought the DJI Care to help recover the loss at a good price.
Has the SDK been released for this drone?
Trying to capture an RC car with my Mavic Air 2. Active track picks up everything and anyone but the RC. It will lock on for a second or two but then disconnects. I just updated last weekend too. I was using the Smart Controller though. Any thoughts? The other thing is that it will lock onto me and follow me with no problem. Really puzzling.

@@evanoliver68 I just updated my Mavic 3 firmware and need the unit to sit and charge so that I get a nice cold boot for test number one. It's going to take a few trials to really be sure that this is resolved if it's resolved.
Yup, with the new update I get satellite lock under 30 seconds

Hi Billy - question. I have a Mavic 3T. In the photo mode, there is a Smart option. The issues is, I don't know what that does - I cannot find anything about it - do you know ? I love the Hi-Res Grid option.
Smart photo is basically an HDR photo. Uses software to enhance the photo.

So I just updated my Mavic 3 to the latest firmware, but see non of the firmware updates mentored. I see I’m not the only one based on the additional comments. So are we to expect DJI to resend the update? I got excited for nothing lol.

What about the GPS Lock issue... I thought that was to addressed in new FW. Is that yet to come... I heard early June?
I use the 7x camera all the time, and it takes good 4k video all the time. Nothing wrong with it. They need to add active track, and quick shots circle mode to the 7x too. Also, active track should works on everything, like cars, boats etc. Plus, need waypoints, tripod mode, and to release the SKD. The mavic 3 could be 300% with better software. Also, the displays on their smart controllers are too small. I use a 10 inch tablet with my shitty included remote. I don't see anything in this update, that really benifits me. The default color is great.
Just updated my firmware and none of these options are available. Shut the drone off and the controller, restarted the app and I’ve got nothing but it says I’ve got the current firmware version. Any ideas?
Probably need to update the Fly app too. Always.

The explorer mode doesn't jumps straight to 7x as shown in this video. :( Also, when will DJI finally give us a red record border to make it OBVIOUS when you're recording or not, as several camera makers offer on their cameras now? This NEEDS to be available on EVERY drone!
