The Linken/Zelda-esque quest chain is a testament of why Vanilla WOW was so epic. You could feel the inspiration and love of the programmers/creators for what they did. A game for gamers by gamers.
This guy had no life really. The enthusiasm to play a single game with shitty graphics entire life it's plain stupid to me. He's lucky now he's making youtube videos which makes him money. Other then that he would be a complete loser as all other idiots who play this stupid ass game !

Best thing about an easter egg is discovering them naturally. I was questing in redridge with a guildie back in early 2007. I was looking closly at the gnoll tents when i said to my pal, "that one patch looks like a face". he responded after looking closely at it himself, "that doesnt just look like a face, that IS a face!" i got a chill down my spine when he said that and it is now a favorite nostalgic moment for me. I also will always love killing those particular gnolls as a quick nostalgia trip.
MadSeson is my guy- I consistently get that “rose tinted” super nostalgic feel from his content. I haven’t played since 2012 but the memories I have from it’s release until then have been revisited in my mind thousands of times- love it!
The Linken questline was one of my favorite easter eggs as a child. I discovered it on the old G4 channel through a show Cheat! Just reminded me of how the quests in classic, and even the easter eggs, were extensive. You actually went on a journey through the game. As opposed to now were you just kill 15 of a certain mob and collect items.
Yes! As a paladin tank in vanilla, people would never believe I could pull from range, until I took them into the dungeon and I showed them Linken's Boomerang. They were always left dumbfounded, haha!
I find so much peace in your videos. After a long day at work I like to just sit at my computer, drink a nice cup of tea and enjoy your content and the nostalgia of many years of WoW. Thank you.

Fun extra fact about Challe: in the WoD Nagrand, there is an female orc recluse named Challe living in a cave near the Throne of the Elements. She kills people and takes over their bodies to live forever. So maybe Challe is neither troll nor orc? Who knows :D
I didn’t realize the crystals were a Land of the Lost reference. I remember the show but never watched it much. I do remember the crystals being a big part of the zone though. @0:46 yesterday I was doing a quest in the Barrens involving the Quillboars. I just noticed that, just like gnolls, they have orc and tauren skin sewed in their tents
I was rewatching this video for at least the one millionth time while playing WOTLK classic and when you started talking about Linken, I had literally just picked up the quest in Un'Goro crater lmao
Blizz put SO many in the game. My favorite was Clarice Foster, the nod to Jodie Foster's character "Clarice Starling" from Silence of the Lambs. Blade's Edge has R2-D2 and C3PO as R-3D0, there are Donkey Kong, Mario and Luigi, the grey item that looked like a fork named Dinglehopper dropped by crabs down near Sen'Jin in Durotar (before Cata) and now a shiny one dropped by gilgoblins in 1K Needles, Godzilla, Gamora, Mothra, Cthulhu, all the jungle animals from The Jungle Book, the list goes on. Pre-Cata there was an NPC at the Sepulcher in Silver Pine with the same name and same spelling as my cousin but that was just a coincidence.
Oh linken's quest line, The journey I had to make and the friends I had to find, to team up with to fight almost every element boss. In the end it was all worth that sweet sword and nice boomerang. It's feels such a crime to have it removed like all the other memorable quests in cataclysm.
Hey Mad, any chance you plan to make a video about the different tributes WoW has put in the game for deceased players? Always been interested in that, I think it’s awesome when Blizzard adds that
there actually was a time once, it didn't last long, but after a patch, somebody in scripting made it possible to skin Tauren, and Trolls. it was another hunter i knew who told me. i tried it after a few gankers got nailed by someone, and it worked. there was quite a stink on forums, so blizz caught it, and unscripted it pretty fast. i figured it shoulda been possible to skin forsaken, since they can EAT people lol.
asta ra sure they do, just not much of it. gotta be something holding that rattlecage together lol. da trolls dey pay big money for zombie skin, beware of da voodoo mon. think of a pre-broken in, distressed leather jacket. it even comes with the sleeves included :)
You should include the giant rabbits in Mulgore. If you stick around long enough on an open ridge north west of thunderbluff you'll see giant rabbits appear and they fight eachother with various weapons.
12:20 - I just got back from that site. I've heard of it, but never got around to visit it. Here's another aspect to it: After a short time Tirisfal stags and does arrive to observe the spectacle, and when it ends, they turn away and wander off into the forest. I highly recommend this to everyone, as it really is quite magical.
This was pretty neat, i only really knew about Liken, he was pretty popular to go after back in Vanilla, gave tanks an extra the ability to range pull with his boomerang.
don't know if it was a part of a guest line or not, but at least back in the days when you activated a detect invisibility-item or spell in raven hill at duskwood it revealed you that all the houses were full of 55-56 level ghosts. holy shit it freaked me out when i tried it for the first time, and has chilled my bones since. lol really, what all of the odds i decide to try my warlock self-explode spell for the first time right in the raven hill inn=DD so glad i decided to try my detect invisibility-spell to see if it would reveal what had just killed me there. absolutely brilliant from the old blizzard, the best easter egg ever.
That Linken chain reminds me why I both loved and hated pre-cata questing. Being a rogue helped significantly once I realized I could hijack horde zepplins.
'The Ungoro crater' is also a reference to the Ngoro'ngoro crater in northern Tanzania, which is a hub of biodiversity with hundreds of thousands of animals living within a stones throw of one another. I went once and I'll say that it's definitely worth it going to Tanzania just for that one experience.
I always LOVE your videos. Makes me feel not so alone in my grinding of the fun and silly stuff. Plus reminds me of stuff I have hidden away on bank alts like those Faded Photographs. Had to go and look thru my dusty archives and found 2.
I had no idea the faded photograph is so rare. I saved all kinds of odd nostalgic items and sure enough I looked in my bank on my oldest character and indeed I have the faded photograph!
The Linken quest was a big one for paladins, because they had no ranged attacks back then, so getting the trinket was a way for them to pull mobs in dungeons and raids from range.
Linken's questline is one of my regrets for not playing WoW earlier (started in Cata). As a huge Zelda fan, I would've loved going on that questline. Speaking of, there is still a Zelda reference there in Un'Goro. There's a grave to a large thunder lizard named Dadanga, a reference to the Dodongo enemies from the series. And his grave reads that he disliked smoke, which is a reference to a saying from Zelda 1.
While questing in Stonetalon Mountains i think i found a reference to Bioshock: in the Krom'gar Fortress there is a large construct called Large Daddy deactivated with a little girl jumping around and saying things like: "Wake up, Mr. D!", just like the Little Sisters in Bioshock.
Old Man Hemming was another reference ( Ernest Hemmingway and his book The Old Man and the Sea) and he was the only vendor of the book for Expert Fishing. Also Hemmingway is more or less the Nesingwary quest givers in STV, with STV being a trove of literary references. 2 NPC's there being anagrams for J. D. Salinger (Sir S. J. Erlgadin) and Jack Kerouac (Ajec Rouak). There's plenty more poetry and classic literature references, probably the most well-known a nod to Tolkein being an early green ring called the "2 Ring" with the item description saying "Not as good as the 1 Ring".
sorry for late reply, but another easter egg which was removed would be the HELP sign on top of grim batol which was a reference to one of the early warcraft books i believe (they arrive to the top of the mountain via a balloon there )
After recalling that epic Linken quest chain, I xmogged my rogue's (Messermæster-Nagrand) 1H weapons to Linken's Sword of Mastery. I think I might even have that photo in a toon's bank, but after all this time, probably not.
I seem to recall (LONG AGO) that some pvp players used to complain about Linkin's boomerang because it also worked against players in the battlegrounds. Not really sure why though; it wasn't that powerful to me, but the disarm feature wasn't a common power and I guess players might not notice they had been disarmed at first.
Here's one I've never heard anyone mention before: in the outhouse in Dalaran, by the pet battle area, there's a naked man inside with a goblin pin up calendar
I would love it, if in classic, they finish/explore things they never did. The Essence of Eranikus questline abruptly ends, and I am curious what classic Emerald Dream would be. The SOULFORGE paladin armor questline is by far my favorite in the game, it really took you on a journey, and felt very satisfying completing it.

Speaking of, there is still a Zelda reference there in Un'Goro. There's a grave to a large thunder lizard named Dadanga, a reference to the Dodongo enemies from the series. And his grave reads that he disliked smoke, which is a reference to a saying from Zelda 1.
While questing in Stonetalon Mountains i think i found a reference to Bioshock:
in the Krom'gar Fortress there is a large construct called Large Daddy deactivated with a little girl jumping around and saying things like: "Wake up, Mr.
There's plenty more poetry and classic literature references, probably the most well-known a nod to Tolkein being an early green ring called the "2 Ring" with the item description saying "Not as good as the 1 Ring".
made my sunday
I remember doing the linked quest chain over 10 years ago. Thanks
Just went back and checked and had the Spirit of Aquementas in my skins list. Thought I remembered this quest!
I was thinking of rocking the sword of mastery as a transmog...just need a green hood and tunic!
Built one around the O/H after watching this. No one will probably recognize it, but worth it for me. Ps, Ango'rosh Souleater's Cowl for the hood
My demon hunter is dual wielding the linken sword of mastery. I love the model and it’s a reference to one of my favorite game series!
sorry for late reply, but another easter egg which was removed would be the HELP sign on top of grim batol which was a reference to one of the early warcraft books i believe (they arrive to the top of the mountain via a balloon there )
loved to learn about the linken quest line :D
Amazing video 🙌
I really enjoyed this episode (mainly because my middle name is also Kanai so it was freaky to see my name in there) so thumbs up :D
That's in tents!
After recalling that epic Linken quest chain, I xmogged my rogue's (Messermæster-Nagrand) 1H weapons to Linken's Sword of Mastery. I think I might even have that photo in a toon's bank, but after all this time, probably not.
I liked your star wars reference xD it made me sub
2:02 "I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."
