if we are lore specific... DSOD showed us that the milenium ring was also stuck in the stone until Bakura's father got there to claim it... which went horribly wrong and it instead killed him and fused to bakura. then Bakura killed Shadi and went on his way. I'd consider DSOD canon at least for the backstory. in the anime Bakura mentioned that his father got him the ring on one of his trips, he never went into detail
@@D-Havoc Well that's the anime I guess. the anime never strictly followed the manga. I mean Pegasus is dead in the Manga too but for the anime they kept him around.
Should note that Yugi won not just by using Spells/Traps to nerf Blue-Eyes, but by abusing the rules of the game. Sure, everyone knows that you didn't need to Tribute monsters before Battle City, but there's another rule that few seem to realize existed: No Direct Attacks. If Direct Attacks were in the original rules, Kaiba would have won easily in his first battle with Yugi.
And don't forget some of the rules Yugi made up, such as his Mystical Elf transferring her own attack power to Blue Eyes, when Mystical Elf is a normal monster, not an effect monster. Or how about the time when Arkana used Ectoplasmer on his Dark Magician, only for Yugi's Dark Magician to block it because(according to him) monsters of the same name are affected by that spell card.
If you watch season zero or read the manga, Blue eyes white dragon had an effect. When it summoned to the field, your opponent lp became 100...that would be too OP even in current Meta.
It's not that there were no direct attacks, instead, it's that you could only attack with one monster per turn in Duelist Kingdom. You'll notice that no one ever goes a whole turn without a monster on the field to block at least one attack. If there were no direct attacks, Yugi could have just...stopped summoning monsters when he was trying to draw Exodia against Kaiba. This was reflected in the Bandai card game that came out around this time too.
Avarm kinda trips me up, cuz with the backstory it sounds like after all the tragedy and powering up he's saying a catchphrase all serious like to set the mood. But his artwork has him look very neutral and feels disconnected from everything else.
Here are the time stamps in case anyone needs them: 10. Blue-Eyes White Dragon 0:40 9. Illusionist Faceless Mage 6:55 8. Petite Moth 11:06 7. Toon Alligator 13:51 6. Zure, Knight of Dark World 16:11 5. 7 Colored Fish 19:06 4. Mekk-Knight Avram 22:21 3. Wretched Ghost Of The Attic 25:15 2. Sengenjin 30:17 1. Dark Magician 36:50 You’re welcome 😊
random note, don't quote me on this but I vaguely remember that the spells and traps supporting the blue eyes and dark magician archetype was implied to be part of their original powers but were too power to be all contained in one card so it was separated into spells and traps instead.
That's because it's true. It's been stated that DMs greatest attack and defense methods RELIED ON Spells & Traps which was revealed during Arkana/Pandora vs. Yugi. So Konami didn't lie about it being the greatest wizard in terms.
In regards to Sengenjin, I wonder if The Millennium Spellbook had other ritual instructions. I dunno if The Pyramid of Light film is anime only canon, but if it is, The instructions for the pyramid of light was probably in the Spellbook along with other artifacts. I kind of wish there was a spinoff or sequel where an occult villain in the modern era found the Spellbook and was kidnapping people to sacrifice and complete some dark ritual.
The Dark World discrepancy has a simple explanation. Each universe has its own self contained ecosystem and when kept separate they can look harmonious to an outsider. However, anyone not from the same universe can justifiably be presumed to be a resource or a dangerous threat and should not be surprised if the locals treat them accordingly.
I might have one more excuse for the Dark Magician: He's referred to as the ultimate *wizard,* not the ultimate Spellcaster. I don't know what a wizard is considered to be in Yugioh, but he's a male DARK Spellcaster with a pointy hat, so I'd say he checks off at least most of the necessary boxes. Meanwhile, Spellcaster or not, Trance is quite clearly more of a swordsman than a magician. He might have some magical proficiency, but considering he has almost 0 DEF, he's probably a one-trick pony that has no way to fend off powerful attacks like the Dark Magician does. Neo Aqua Madoor is a sorcerer who defends himself somewhat simply by conjuring an entire fucking ice shelf to block attacks. And Cosmo Queen is, in all likelihood, not strictly a sorceress judging by her flavor text, but some godlike or alien entity that oversees the greater Universe. Bearing that in mind (as well as the fact that Trance's flavor text says he'd been to space as well), I think it's fair to say that the Dark Magician is at least the best wizard _on Earth._
2:52 Actually, now the Primite Blue-Eyes variant (the dominant variant) wants to have at least 1 Blue-Eyes in the field during opponent's turn to being able to activate Primite Drillbeam.
To be fair, "Fish and Swaps" could potentially be portraying immortal men (or indeed, women); and "Single Purchase" be portraying mortal goblins. Thus, in the strictest sense, it is still possible that 7 Colored Fish has not been caught specifically by "mortal men". We need only apply Macbeth-levels of specificity to the flavour text's interpretation.
Damn, I run an illusion deck and never knew about the Maiden. Seems like a decent little extender and would give extra protection to the fusions. Not terrible
A funny thing is that Dark Magician's flavor text is put into qoutation marks, unlike Cosmo Queen. This might imply it is just something people say about him rather than a supposedly factual statement.
If I may offer a potential minor correction: the "Magic Type chart quadrilateral" was for a Monster's Attribute, not its Type (Sorry Pokemon), and you could have, say, a Water Spellcaster like Aqua Madoor. Not covered in the Attribute Chart shown was also the Elemental Attribute Hexagon, Water > Fire > Forest > Wind > Earth > Thunder > Water. Having played video games that used those prototypical rules, I will say, there were some other odd choices. In Reshef of Destruction, a game based on the YGO manga cycle of the same name, for example, Cyber Jar was a Normal Monster, Mystical Elf was an Effect Monster, Monsters could only use their effects when flipped face-up but would remain face down in attack mode if you placed them and didn't attack, Spellbinding Circle was a Spell Card, Trap Cards would just go off automatically and without you having a choice as soon as something satisfied their activation condition (kinda like Light and Darkness Dragon of today's game), and the Normal Summon was king. But yeah, Fiend Attribute and Black Magic Attribute got consolidated into Dark Attribute, and Illusion Magic and White Magic Attributes got merged into Light Attribute (though seeing Yami Kaiba lose his blue-eyes *every time* attacking into my facedown Kuriboh was hilarious). I'm glad we ended up with the game we have now.
I think Dark Magician's Flavor Text is still accurate. He has the highest base stat total of all WIZARDS. With that logic, and with Cosmo Queen not being a wizard, and I guess moving the goalpost one more time, his flavor text and lore is accurate.
I think the dark magicians bio refers to not "epellcaster" monsters but "magician" monsters. Like cosmo queen technically isn't a wizatd since "magician" isn't in her nsme. Or it could be that at the time of its release, it was the strongest wizard
In all fairness, Cosmo Queen would technically be a Witch, rather than a Wizard, so Dark Magician is still technically the ultimate WIZARD in terms of attack and defense. =D
Ask your self this who made the millennium spell book and how could they know the ritual would work the ritual mudt have been used prior to the main story. You also forgot millennium scorpion
Petit moth would have been 50% better if it had the effect "when this card is summoned you can change it to defense position" Just because 2k defense was ok-ish once. It'd be further 50% better if it was just rhe cocoon with the same effect. The moths would be 99% better as extra deck mons, or with red eyes metal deck summoning effect rather than needing to be in hand
Please bring back, "Explaining engines" series. lots of good engies i would like to know, but to me, areconfusing as hell. Like White Forest, snake eyes, trickstar.
As an OCG player, Blue-Eyes is Meta, and the players who use Blue-Eyes never have BEWD on the field for more than 3 minutes, also Dark Magician and E. Hero Neos are just clickbait
You know, you should not think that game mechanics and flavor text go hand in hand. One is a set of rules for a game. The other is a setting for a fantasy realm. Neither are actually the same. Trying to tie in flavor text to game mechanics is no different than being unable to separate reality from fiction in my opinion.
Darklord of D knows as the most terrible god of destruction who has conquerer every realm withs powerful dark magic attack: 1500 defense: 1100 a very angry goblin this goblin is angry and will not hestitate to squash you with its comically size hammer attack 2100 defense 1500
Top 10 Worst classic cards 7: Ancient Sanctuary, or Top 10 Worst Warrior type monsters. Or Worst monsters that cannot be normal summoned or set For the non top 10 list: The Unknown side of Yu-Gi-Oh: Beasts of the Colliseum featuring Gladiator Beasts
I think its supposed to be the monster in world that the text describes, lol still ain't gonna stop the buster blader the dragon destroyer from skinning those poor poor dragons but hey a dude needs to eat
Technically wizards are male and cosmo queen is female. I have never heard of a female wizard usually they are referred to as witches, sorceresses, hags, or wise women depending on how far you want to stretch thr definition of what constitute a female spellcaster. It would be one thing if instead it said ultimate mage or spellcaster as those are gender neutral terms.
I will have to disagree on the Exodia explanation with the Ankh mainly due to the fact that Exodia is supposed to win outright but he lost to Zorc, and while yes one could make the argument that Exodia lost due to being used by a person with a weakened soul, the thing is, even later on in GX where Exodia had been shown and stated to have become stronger, he still lost every single battle he was in meaning that the effects of monsters only work in the context of the card game itself but not the same way in the monster's individual lores outside the card game, plus besides we seen the Egyptian Gods and Blue-Eyes fare better against Zorc than Exodia did and the Egyptian Gods were stated to be stronger than Exodia on multiple occasions, now what this has to do with the extra millenium items? Well perhaps the extra millenium items could have been created even prior to the 7 that we know of and were perhaps way less powerful and thus less notable than the main 7, plus how can we be 100% certain that Phantom Exodia Incarnate is weaker than the OG? Perhaps the upcoming card chronicles can shed some light on Exodia some day
Now finishing the video i realise something... Bro every single Vanilla Monster should be in this list. Only a few have the honesty to say how a d0gsh1t they are, at least if we treat lore as Gameplay mechanics or Real world circumstances
Now I've seen this argument about dark magician and you would be right with Cosmo queen but she wouldn't be considered a wizard since she is a female she would be a witch....no I'm not saying she is or isn't a wizard but traditionally speaking wizards are male

if we are lore specific...
And in the manga, Bakura's father is the owner of the Domina Museum, where the final src takes place. So DSOD has inconsistency with the manga lore.
And don't forget some of the rules Yugi made up, such as his Mystical Elf transferring her own attack power to Blue Eyes,
when Mystical Elf is a normal monster, not an effect monster.
But his artwork has him look very neutral and feels disconnected from everything else.
because its tcg flavor text is classic faulty translation shenanigans , its REAL ocg flavor text is almost as long as the suship

thank you. wanted to watch this but 41 minutes, for 10 normal monsters...
@@TraXXXtar You’re welcome
Petit Moth isn't really lying though. When you're building a deck, and considering which cards to play, this one really is better off avoided.
random note, don't quote me on this but I vaguely remember that the spells and traps supporting the blue eyes and dark magician archetype was implied to be part of their original powers but were too power to be all contained in one card so it was separated into spells and traps instead.
I like this a lot
That's because it's true. It's been stated that DMs greatest attack and defense methods RELIED ON Spells & Traps which was revealed during Arkana/Pandora vs. Yugi. So Konami didn't lie about it being the greatest wizard in terms.
25:08 even post mortem will their name live on in infamy
In regards to Sengenjin, I wonder if The Millennium Spellbook had other ritual instructions. I dunno if The Pyramid of Light film is anime only canon, but if it is, The instructions for the pyramid of light was probably in the Spellbook along with other artifacts. I kind of wish there was a spinoff or sequel where an occult villain in the modern era found the Spellbook and was kidnapping people to sacrifice and complete some dark ritual.

32:31 my only problem with this is they FOUND the method to make the seven so there were probably some made BEFORE Atems father
BEWD is virtually invincible. It’s tremendous! Poor Ultimate Wizard can’t compare.
Can't believe my cards would lie to me😔
@ 40:23
Wizard as in Male Spellcaster. Cosmo Queen is a Female Spellcaster. That’s the nuance.
This feels like a 20 minute video that got stretched into an hour.
Protector of the throne - "While the king is away, this queen protects his throne with a mighty defence." DEF - 1500 XD
Zure is simply a politician
33:48 In the DSOD it was shown that Shady also had the millennium ring until Bakura's father tried to get it, but it chose Bakura instead
Blue Eyes White Dragon
..."virtually invincible"
Dies to removal
Not all Spellcasters are Wizards! I don't even k ow what Cosmo Queen is suppose to be, but Trance is clearly a magical swordsman.
Sigh. Here we go again with these idiots. ATTACK AND DEFENSE = method of SPELLS AND TRAPS.
Was hoping for Spherous Lady on this list.
2:14 there was no better feeling on the playground than flipping dragon capture jar on a blue eyes
top 10 monster's that make themselves unaffected to everything
Also ATTACK AND DEFENSE is not referring to his ATK/DEF stats. Meta players are stupid.
@@jobejacobs62 What are they referring to?
They should errata Toon Alligator to make it a toon normal monster
Top 10 cards better in real life than in the anime/manga
2:52
Actually, now the Primite Blue-Eyes variant (the dominant variant) wants to have at least 1 Blue-Eyes in the field during opponent's turn to being able to activate Primite Drillbeam.
Jumpscare Diabellstar at the end!
Damn, I run an illusion deck and never knew about the Maiden. Seems like a decent little extender and would give extra protection to the fusions. Not terrible
Glad intos are back
A funny thing is that Dark Magician's flavor text is put into qoutation marks, unlike Cosmo Queen. This might imply it is just something people say about him rather than a supposedly factual statement.
40:30 - Cosmo Queen is a witch, not a wizard, so Dark Magician still has the highest combined Atk & Def of all *male* normal spellcasters.
About flavor text,MBT duel someone(forget who he is) but using flavor text as effect monster
you ever kick ball through brick wall?
ja
I think Dark Magician's Flavor Text is still accurate. He has the highest base stat total of all WIZARDS. With that logic, and with Cosmo Queen not being a wizard, and I guess moving the goalpost one more time, his flavor text and lore is accurate.
My head canon is that Kaiba himself wrote the BEWD flavour text to scare people
You'll notice insect knight isn't listed. Because, it's completely true that their battle prowess is unmatched.
I think the dark magicians bio refers to not "epellcaster" monsters but "magician" monsters. Like cosmo queen technically isn't a wizatd since "magician" isn't in her nsme.
Or it could be that at the time of its release, it was the strongest wizard
1:10 if you're going to count the ritual BLS as a normal monster, then The Masked Beast is a 3200 normal ritual monster.
I think he meant the literal normal version of the ritual BLS. It's a very old, very rare card that isn't even official/legal, I believe
7 Colored Gish isn't even 7 colors! I only see 5 colors to it
In all fairness, Cosmo Queen would technically be a Witch, rather than a Wizard, so Dark Magician is still technically the ultimate WIZARD in terms of attack and defense. =D
Ah yes light beats dark, dark beats dream and dream beats shadow, oh and shadow beats light.
Ask your self this who made the millennium spell book and how could they know the ritual would work the ritual mudt have been used prior to the main story.
You also forgot millennium scorpion
Petit moth would have been 50% better if it had the effect "when this card is summoned you can change it to defense position"
Just because 2k defense was ok-ish once. It'd be further 50% better if it was just rhe cocoon with the same effect. The moths would be 99% better as extra deck mons, or with red eyes metal deck summoning effect rather than needing to be in hand
Avram change is baffling since no other monster has changed flavor text
Mortal does not have a sense in which it means human. Man, however, does.
Honestly, I just kind of imagined the answer to this list is 'All of them'
We got so confused about mystic clown. We thought that if it battled it destroyed any monster
If I don’t see Dark Magician I will riot
Hope You didnt riot
Cards that lied on their resume
I don't think their text refers to the game, but more of legend as if they were among people.
Yugi: No card is without weakness.

Dark magician says ultimate WIZARD none of those were wizards. Cosmo QUEEN can't be a wizard
Why not
What if she becomes trans
@McFlyIncognito wouldn't matter, she's not a WITCH or WIZARD

Sounds like Arime's boast was made by Joey.
Do apart 2 theses more than just this 10 list
Technically wizards are male and cosmo queen is female. I have never heard of a female wizard usually they are referred to as witches, sorceresses, hags, or wise women depending on how far you want to stretch thr definition of what constitute a female spellcaster. It would be one thing if instead it said ultimate mage or spellcaster as those are gender neutral terms.
Cosmo Queen is not a Wizard, Harry.
People read too much Harry Potter a Woman can be a wizard and a man can be a witch
GX also said the Sacred Beasts are strong Monster. Lets not take whatever it says for granted. Zure did nothing wrong. This is Lightsworn Propaganda.
Erm, actually Black Luster Soldier isn't a normal monster, logs, it's a non-effect monster 🤓
9:25 also he's an Illusionist I.E a Magician
Now I've seen this argument about dark magician and you would be right with Cosmo queen but she wouldn't be considered a wizard since she is a female she would be a witch....no I'm not saying she is or isn't a wizard but traditionally speaking wizards are male
