I’ve listened to this a few times beginning to end. The story about Norm being in screen writing class makes me cry laughing every time I hear it. I think it’s the “bit of a yawner” line.
You can tell that Dennis never stopped being his older brother as soon as he hired him to be his writer and started his career. Just fucking wholesome.
That last conversation really hit hard. I've never been one to get emotional over a celebrity death, but norm macdonald really is one of those that makes me tear up.
To quote Gore Vidal: “I love cock.” No, but seriously: “It is not enough to succeed. Others must fail.” The contemporary L.A. comic scene is abhorrent, and it’s incredible that the city could contain both Norm and the rest of this dreck.
Hey I agree with probably 3 picks but saw bert live begrudgingly bc gifted tickets and he got a lot of laughs out of me. Tony is being a p diddy of comedy currently. The idea of having live rapid fire open mics has been done already but making an online business out of it is smart. I’ve never seen him outside of clips/shorts of the show nor do I know if he contracts the people he likes and brings on tour with him harshly but I think he’s a good one too.
Norman Macdonald crushed it wall to wall. The outlaw comic. I haven't heard a weak Norm MacDonald piece yet. BUT...people forget that Dennis was once considered the next Johnny Carson. He was HUGE. I LOVE THIS VIDEO
Imagining norm and Drake in a 30 hour movie writing class together. Just can't wrap my mind around those two doing that. That shit should have been recorded. " A bit of a yawner"?
Morty Morty I disagree because Miller gets and recognizes the genius of Norm and just lets him roll. It's like he can just throw out all the "smart" guy politics and sit back and relax.
Miller is good, but if you like Norm McDonald, you MUST find the UA-cam of Chicago morning radio legend Johnny B. with Norm and a surprise call to his brother and railed by Super Dave Osborne (Bob Einstein - brother of Albert Brooks) on the line. Gold Jerry! Gold!
I like how 75% of his jokes bomb with Dennis so badly that he doesn't seem to even realize there was a joke, yet norm just keeps going until the next laugh
Man this guy is so incredibly funny. I’ve listened to this 3 times now and I pick up new stuff every time, and the stuff I found funny the first time gets funnier on repeated listening. I really enjoy Norm with Dennis because you can tell they love each other and enjoy each other. Dennis obviously relished every moment he had with Norm. The jokes he did with the imaginary ventriloquist dummies is some of the best comedy I’ve ever heard. Part of what makes him so great is that he was fearless; in the tradition of the greatest comedians. He did not allow the ridiculous virtue signaling bs of the radical left step on his freedom. That’s probably the main reason he is such a legend and always will be.
@@mcapps1 You joke, but in the UK we literally did have radio ventriloquists. Look up Peter Brough, he was a radio staple for nearly ten years, hugely successful.
56:18 Sal’s wheezing laughter is great. He actually did bug out for a few minutes after saying “gotta go,” and I’m not sure if it was because he was laughing too hard or he was protecting his career. He was always a nervous Nellie about that stuff
A real string of consciousness thing going here. Lol I think that after Norm was diagnosed he tried to put out as much material as virtually possible to attempt to make as many people as possible laugh before he passed. That’s just what I choose to believe personally. That ol chunk of coal is a diamond now.
I think youre right. I think he just really focused on living well and full, and that meant spending quality time with his son first, and generating the best jokes in the known universe second. Dont believe there was a third. Guy was the spirit of comedy incarnate.
The bit about the Minneapolis airport bathroom was something I had never heard before. I absolutely loved that. Norm was one of a kind. I miss him already…

Dennis is the best counterpoint for Norm... His laughter makes Norm's patter even better !! Great Duo!
I’ve listened to this a few times beginning to end. The story about Norm being in screen writing class makes me cry laughing every time I hear it. I think it’s the “bit of a yawner” line.
That was the even dryer humor of drake Sather.
Wow Dennis Miller really is Norm's biggest fan. Fucking hilarious!

we love you…always.
You can tell that Dennis never stopped being his older brother as soon as he hired him to be his writer and started his career. Just fucking wholesome.
Dennis & Norman--what a fantastic duo. They truly complemented each other. Norman was so damn funny.
That last conversation really hit hard. I've never been one to get emotional over a celebrity death, but norm macdonald really is one of those that makes me tear up.
GOD GIVE US BACK NORM AND TAKE BERT KREISCHER , TOM SEGURA , WHITNEY CUMMINS , TONY HINCHKLIFF
Hans Kim too please
This is what I scream at my depression every single day since we lost Norm.
Even Norm has highbrow fans
To quote Gore Vidal: “I love cock.”
No, but seriously: “It is not enough to succeed.
Imagine trying to drive in traffic while this is on the radio.
Miller is perfect as the “ya, keep going. We’re listenin’’” !
Norman Macdonald crushed it wall to wall. The outlaw comic. I haven't heard a weak Norm MacDonald piece yet. BUT...people forget that Dennis was once considered the next Johnny Carson. He was HUGE. I LOVE THIS VIDEO
I wish Dennis was a guest on NML, that would be hilarious
Dennis and Norm and one of the best duos. Here it's Norm in the spotlight, but Dennis can get Norm almost at good. They are hilarious
Thanks Utube for ruining the greatest compilation ever with ads every 5 minutes.. .

Norm and Dennis...gotme in tears just hearing their laughter
"You were ON the old Johnny Carson show!"
"I wore an ascot."

"But in a perfect world, Norm, would you be gay? All things being considered..." Hahahahaha Dennis caught Norm off guard with that one

Imagining norm and Drake in a 30 hour movie writing class together. Just can't wrap my mind around those two doing that. That shit should have been recorded. " A bit of a yawner"?
What?
Thanks for the hard work. Well worth it. Besides Letterman, nobody interviews Norm better than Miller.
I don't know...Miller has a way of trying to be the smart guy that kind of deflates Macdonald's whole schtick...imo
It's funny that he appreciates his humor so much and laughs at almost everything he says though.
Gold Jerry! Gold!
Frank Bartco hey thanks new norm for me

RIP GENIUS! Thanks for Everything!
“I’ve had it up to here with this character”
I love listening to Miller laugh at Norm.
The dummies were invisible?

@@mcapps1 You joke, but in the UK we literally did have radio ventriloquists. Look up Peter Brough, he was a radio staple for nearly ten years, hugely successful.
56:18 Sal’s wheezing laughter is great. He actually did bug out for a few minutes after saying “gotta go,” and I’m not sure if it was because he was laughing too hard or he was protecting his career. He was always a nervous Nellie about that stuff
Sal was a legendary side kick on the Dmz
These random conversations connect so many dots
There is no doubt that Norm actually had a ventriloquist dummy while doing that routine.
