Hey Joe , I just bought a used 04 Texas Chopper in Awesome condition , the bike shop wants $ 100.00 + tax to do the oil change ,, ARrr , so I went to Advance Auto and bought 3 quarts of Valvoline 20/50 motorcycle oil ( Not synthetic ) . Anyway , the bike Shop owner told me to Use 3 quarts and make sure the oil is just level with the hose in the tank .. You are telling Us to fill the tank a 1/2 inch below the filler cap .. Brother that sounds like Alot More than 3 quarts .. Advance Auto also had the Reference number from an S&S 111 ci oil filter , and crossed it to a K&N oil filter , looks exactly like the 1 yr using w. the wrench top .. So my 2 question's are 1. Exactly how Much oil in Quarts do you use for an oil change ? 2. How do U grade the K&N oil Filter Vs's other makes ? Thank's for yr time and video ... B_R
Well, first of all keep in mind I'm not a motorcycle mechanic just a Texas chopper and big dog K-9 motorcycle enthusiast. With that said, I always use full synthetic oil for the engine and regular 20/50 oil for the primary. According to the owners manual for the 2006 model, the manufacturer suggests that once the engine oil has reached the normal operating temperature, the engine oil level is approximately 1 inch below the top of the oil tank for both their soft tail and rigid models. Your second question on the K&N oil filters . . . They are just my personal preference and I think the nut that's welded on the end of the filter case makes it super easy to remove. I've never had a problem with them, they been around a long time and I believe they have a pretty good reputation.
Pilotjoe7 ,,,,, I've been meaning to come back and tell what I did .. Hey ,, yr video was Spot On bro ,, Thank U .. And 3 quarts was Perfect .. 2 1/2 quarts ,,, Crank up the engine , let run for a minute ,, and pour the rest of the 3rd quart N ... Oil was bout and inch down .. And Yes sir ,, the welded on Nut on the K&N filter works Great .. Thanks again 4 yr video Joe .... B_R
THANK YOU SIR. 😎🎶🌱😊 I HAVE HAD MANY MOTOR CYCLES BUT NOT LIKE THIS ONE , ITS VERY HARD TO SEE UNDER IT TO FIND THE PLUGS ...!!!* YOUR VIDEO WAS HELPFUL * THANK YOU MAN 💪....😎😊
What is the plug for, next to the oil filter, that has the wires on it? I pulled mine off to make the filter easier to change, put it back in when I finished, and now my bike won’t start. Does it have anything to do with starting?
Your stuff is amazing for someone like me that's new to motorcycles, but has some mechanical experience!!! Love it for my 04 Tejas AIH
Very helpful, by the way, do you happen to have one on how to change the oil for the primary for the Texas Iron Horse?
Excellent video Sir!!
Thank you kindly!
