GM just got busted selling your information from onstar to private companies that report the information to insurance companies. This is even without the subscription. The info collected is any video, audio, hard breaking, hard turning, fast acceleration, and more. There is also a system in most vehicles that automatically records that data to the vehicle. I'm uninstalling mine. But finding it was a pain, because it wasn't listed in the manual. Scotty should do a video on how to locate and uninstall them.

This brought back memories, I used to own a red Trans Am just like this one. Loved that thing.
The biggest issue with these cars is they are made of fiberglass and almost impossible to repair.
My door window regulator damaged the fiberglass door and the window would no longer work or seat correctly. NO ONE wanted to touch it. I had to use JB Weld to put the regulator where it needed to be but if it ever needed to be replaced then it would basically need an entire new door.

This car was made in Canada, built just north of Montreal along with the Chevy Camaro. Unfortunately, when GM retired the Firebird/Trans Am and Camaro in 2002, the assembly plant closed down and was demolished in 2004; a shopping centre was later built where the plant once stood. Thousands of people from the area worked at GM Boisbriand, Quebec from 1965 to 2002. Now most of Canada's automobile industry is located in Ontario (GM, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Stellantis).

Yeah, I'm no big environmentalist but same here. Especially since I'd want to show it to my sister's kids and they don't need to be breathing that NOx.
Plus it would stink. And moreover, it's something broken on an otherwise cream puff of an extinct car - it ideally should have nothing broken on it if practical.

Since they haven't done any diag on it, they don't even know that it needs a cat. It could be a failing cat monitor. Could be a wiring issue to the cat monitor. Could be a small exhaust leak near the cat monitor that needs to be patched. All assuming that there isn't an issue with the PCM.

I'm a lifelong Pontiac fan from the time I rode in dad's '66 Bonneville. Pontiac Motor Division ceased to exist in 1984 when it was folded into the Chevrolet-Pontiac-Canada Group (CPC), which was nothing less than the complete takeover of Pontiac by Chevrolet. (In contrast Buick, Olds, and Cadillac each seemed to have better parity in BOC.) The Fiero was the last car brought to market by PMD. After that it was just an empty brand name, and it showed in the products. I especially don't care about later GM Corporate products with plastic Pontiac badges slapped on. Killing off the name was long overdue, and good riddance.

Their is one thing I will say about GM. After they went from building cobalts to Cruze build quality went down dramatically. I own a cobalt and have driven cruzes. My cobalt refuses to die and has a lot more power than the Cruze. I will NEVER buy a new GM product I’ve heard the new Silverados are blowing their engines shortly after leaving the factory due to lifter issues. My next new car will be a Toyota or a Honda. I wouldn’t mind buying older used Chevys. But if I was buying a brand new car, Toyota and Honda all day!
