    This man is absolutely right... Everything I've seen completely reinforces what he's saying.

    I've been contemplating trading in my road glide for a newer road glide, but in the end I think my best option would be to throw in a new S&S in what I already have. Too many issues with the Harley engines that will eventually surface.

      I agree. My first bike that I built has a 96in in it and I've had no problems with the S&S. I would put in a S&S in any bike and feel comfortable with it!

    I got a revtech, american built, probably one of the best motors to have. In my personal opinion, Spit and sputter are some good looking motors as well i give you that, there all American made engines, revtech sold there company to south korea in 04 but was American made until that year.

    Wish Harley-Davidson would pay attention to S&S no plastic chain tensioners that's something Henry Ford would come up with

      jim wortham $$ is why harley does what they do. Cut cost, cut cost, cut cost. That’s why the dyna was born and the fxr died and is now popular again. BecUse we love our dynas..after spending money on suspension and motor mounts and motors. Because Harley has good ideas. Fxr, new softail, Milwaukee 8. But then...chain drive cams and hydraulic tensioners, shitty roller bearings in crank cases instead of timpkens. (I’m a horrible speller). Point being why is after market Harley so much better? Because the aftermarket is Harley’s idea with no costs cut. Therefore s&s is the definition potential. The best in my opinion.

    A lot of clone pseudo-choppers use S&S parts but aren't ALL S&S so do like he did and check serials. There are a VARIETY of S&S engines. Be sure of what you are looking at. Their tech support are helpful.
    When the Recession hit the boomers who bought clone bikes sold them cheap and prices won't rebound because they were, to put it nicely, fucking absurdly high. That's GOOD for buyers because some are sold for less than the cost of parts. Loot the drivetrain, use the titled neck on a non-stupid frame, and sell the leftovers. Happy hunting.

    I have been running a 96 cube shovel in my 81 wide glide for years some say its not original Harley but honestly how many stock Harley's are running S&S bits anyway? I personally think that the original H.D evo is a great engine but the shovel S&S have got it pretty much perfect, but I have seen some modded up evos running a lot of Screaming eagle gear so it is i believe where you find the best balance for yourself, but everyone wants a bit more kick and a bit more reliability and thats what riders of big twins do.

    So how would you rate these for the best motor between pan head, knucklehead or shovel head. Which motor you could use everyday and cross country? Thanks

    would you advice anybody to buy a Big Dog K-9 , with the S&S 117 ci. ?

      @Pilotjoe7  7 років тому +1

      That's a tough question to answer. if you rephrase it perhaps I'd be able to give you an answer. Like, would you advise an experienced rider who's looking for a chopper to buy the Big Dog K-9 or the Harley CVO??

      Yes on the engine. Probably no on the rest of the bike. Depends on how ya ride and what your intentions are.

    Since when is an Ultima motor an asian style motor? Castings are poured in the USA, machined in the USA and assembled in the USA..

      Sounds like you don't know what you're talking about!!!! They r made of Chinese parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @harryavdoulos4029
      @harryavdoulos4029 4 роки тому +1

      @@michaelburke2824 Last time i checked Mahle pistons are not made in China... S&S use i beam conrods and S&S pistons. Ultima Use a H beam conrod much stronger and Mahle pistons, Beehive valve springs... nothing wrong with these parts... Any engine will fail if put in the hands of a goose! It don't matter what brand the engine is if its a bug cube, High comp and you run low octane fuel you will fuck it! cant blame the manufacturer for a persons stupidity...

      There's plenty of material on that and how Flathead Power was acquired by S&S. In fairness, some folks have had QA issues with the S&S but you can save money buy buying the parts then building it yourself (if you're capable) or having a GOOD, PROFESSIONAL shop with a proven track record assemble the engine. If I had a Knuck to do I'd take the engine (or ship it, freight is cheap) to famous Knuck racer Bill Furr's shop in NC. I used to watch him race his famous Knuck at Orangeburg in the 1980s. He does very impressive work. www.fullthrottlemagazine.com/April2018EventPhotos/ID/2052/Bill-Furr-Inducted-Into-NC-Drag-Racing-Hall-Of-Fame
