Doing the half-star 4:20 makes my trapezius muscles ache. I found it to ache even with the other "arms raise to the sides" exercises you had previously. I don't know why. Yet, I could do your workout sandbag routine without too much trouble, using a 28 lb bag.

Sounds like your deltoids aren't engaging and your traps are doing the work.
