I’m 77 and have bursitis in both hips and arthritis in my lower back. I’ve had 4 cortisone shots in both hips over a two-year period. The shots no longer work. I go for physio twice a week and go to a chiropractor twice a week also. Nothing helps. I can’t stand or walk for longer than 5 minutes without severe pain and have to sit down. I’m not sleeping either. I’m awake every hour to two hours with the pain. And I’m getting really depressed. What are my options?
I’m almost 89 and keep moving. I do leg exercises every morning before getting out of bed, walk every day, even practice walking backwards, helps with balance. My daughter bought me a Fitbit so I try to do 7,000 steps, have done as much as 13,000. Also try to stand straight and eat healthy. With the weather so hot I go to a big box store or mall and walk, like to walk fast. Still drive and do my own housework.
Thank Wil I'm 72 now and your video has reminded me what I should be doing every day but have got a bit lazy in my old age. Keep these posts coming sir as they are very motivational🙂
Omg! I walk about 15,000 steps a day. I don’t have a car. I am 72. I make all my food including breads. I eat whole plant based food with 2 egg boiled most days and fish most days. I run most days. Recently fell with my standard 80 lb poodle. Ran into his back legs sprinting across the traffic. Went down knocked the wind out of me. Bloodied me up but no permanent damage or broken bones. I think too many people take too many supplements and tout all meat, vegan and what not. Love your food and enjoy life.
I'm over 50 and get sore legs when getting up I find this video helpful and motivational. Thank you, Will, for posting this video for seniors to help their independence.
I did exercises like these before my knee replacement surgeries, and I believe it really helped my recovery. I haven't been doing them lately and I have gotten weak. I'm going to start them again today! Thank you for explaining the difference between strength and muscle mass.
I turned 50 late last year and noticed through your amazing videos that it wasn't my back but my pelvic area that needed strengthening. I used to hunch forward and as a result my legs used to give in. I went to the extent of doing an MRI to investigate possible MS😮. I've now begun all your leg strengthening exercises in the last 2 weeks n have already noticed a difference in the way i walk. I'm subscribed from beautiful South Africa n have recommended your excellent channel to family n friends. Thank u so much for explaining each exercise in detail n with no nonsense, to the point demonstrations. Hope u are blessed to give us more valuable info on a regular basis.

I just did a set of these and went for a walk. My knee didn't hurt once! Wow! Will def continue to do them! I didn't realise there was a difference between the muscle mass strength and neural network strength! Maybe I have weak neural network, and that's why it's made a difference already after just one set! Thank you, great video.

I am 62 and still work full time and have not been doing much exercising. I'm immediately beginning these because I do not want to ever have muscle loss. Thanks for your videos.
Good day. Thank you for the very helpful physical exercises for seniors you are teaching. They are a great help. I will be 72 years old in 2 months time and have been fairly active in my younger days with tennis, cycling, golf, and gym work among other activities. Turning 60s was not much of a problem physically, but hitting the 70s, one really notices the loss of strength, stamina, and balance. Seniors really must spend some time for exercise to maintain their health and keep their balance to avoid falling accidents.
Happy birthday for 2 months time! I'm sorry to hear you've noticed difficulties with your strength and balance. I have lots of videos on my channel for these different issues that you may find beneficial as well. Sending best wishing to you :)
Just wanted you to know that I and a friend, both in our 80s are enjoying your channel in Canada. I use some of your exercises every day and they are making a positive difference.

Will, you are an amazing physiotherapist. You clearly know and understand your trade so very well. Your exercises have helped me tremendously to rebuild strength following a knee injury. All best.
Thank you so much for your kind words, it's wonderful that I'm able to share my expertise with others! I'm thrilled to hear I've been able to help with rebuilding your knee strength, keep up the great work that you've been dedicating to your recovery 😃
thank you for this video! I exercise in bed too for 30 minutes when I wake up in the morning! I exercise my legs, arms, fingers, a little face massage! and I feel better all day! I am in my 70s.
I feel fortunate I came upon your channel. Love your presentations and I’ll definitely buy your book. Question…….could you do a video on pre play exercises that would help keep us from hurting ourselves…..for those of us that have caught the Pickle Ball craze. So many of my friends over 50 are straining, tearing and injuring themselves by, what I think is, not warming up properly with proper exercises. Thank you for what you’re doing to help us. This Video is God sent rather I should say Will sent for me. I am 72 years old . Due to fibromyalgia and arthritis I am not able to walk as much as I used to . Hopefully with these exercises will be able to accomplish my goal again . Thanks for all your motivation and hard work.
Hi Will, I am doing theses exercises and many more from your previous videos, and I am feeling very satisfying results as my legs were very weak because my ankle could not take weight of my body. I have hyper mobile ankle. Can please make a video on this topic
These are amazing exercises Will👍 Im just after doing those exercises this morning & discovered that they help my lower back pain also. Thank you so much again. I love those & epecially when you give us jus about 3 at a time as its easy rem them & easy do each day.THANK YOU so much for your time & teaching. 👍❤👌🌻
Thank you I am post op spinal fusion 8 weeks I am being told. Walk walk and I just can’t my legs feel so weak as for the last nearly two years I could hardly walk I had plantar fasciitis in my left foot all last year as well as L4 & L5 problems I am doing these exercises to try to strengthen my legs to enable me to improve my mobility.
Hi how’s it going with the exercises? I pretty much same situation as you except my surgery wasn’t for the spine but everything else is pretty much the same …have these exercises helped you ? I hope you’re healing fine and get stronger everyday
I've been working w my senior Mom for almost a month. It works for her n it's totally awesome. She's doing stuff w/o her cane n feels more independent. TYSM!!
I will definately start with these exercises from tomorrow - today its me and dentist. I shall give feed back. I am 75 years old, still in fair shape but legs are.getting weak
Im over 60 and recently had knee operation after injury.the exercises are exactly what I need. Thanks for a succinct explanation on the difference between leg vs muscle strength
Will, I have done a form of these exercises but followed them w lengthening the quads w lying on the side, bending the knee backwards so that the heel touches the bum. 30 seconds.
Thank you for these specific exercises I need to strengthen my legs prior to hip surgery, I have degenerative discs so maybe need to go carefully with the band one ? Thank you your videos have been a great help for me.
I am 70 yrs. Had Neuropathy last year. This impacted my hands and legs and I have continued doing all my home work myself but with a lot of pain. I started doing some of your exercises to help me walk without pain and I am glad I am pain free while walking. I will now be doing these exercises for mind muscle builf
Hi 👋🏾 Will! I’ve been wobbling trying to walk,I knew that I needed to gain strength in my legs 🦵 if I would be able to walk normal again. I started doing the exercises and after doing them for just a few days I truly felt a better pep in my step, I thought it was gonna take longer for me to feel some strength in my legs! Thank you so much, You have inspired me and all of us with your exercises! Question: we have to do these exercises on both legs right? You usually say what you do on one side you must do on the other side, I didn’t hear you say that with this exercise 😮!
That's me but I had a severe stroke 2 years ago and have had physical therapy andy legs are still very week and wobbly I have had back pain from surgery a few years ago and a total hip replacement but I'm thinking about trying this anyway
I finally got my motivation on. Got an unexpected tax refund so I bought a couple of pieces of gear. I have started and I am doing all the basics but all assisted too. Starting from scratch after a bit of an illness. Having the equipment placed in my tiny "living room" also gives me a minute by minute visual reminder. Thanks for all your information.
A great investment with your tax refund! I hope you're feeling better after your illness and I hope these exercises offer a good starting point for you :)
@@HT-Physio Thanks for the reply. I am fully recovered from the illness but in very poor physical condition. Your videos have helped both by providing useful information and regularly watching has helped with my motivation. I am starting VERY slowly and carefully but at least I have started. Finally. Cheers!
*Tell your families and friends about this channel, this can benefit and make them, healthy too* !!! What else I do, so I don't forget, I will video each exercise onto my cellphone, this way, I can use the video on my phone and it would be easier to look at . But I do this AFTER , I first watch Will Harlow entire Video. I make it easier for myself . And I also add it on, My Favorites. I will always make a Short cut /Save it .
I'm sorry to hear about your joint pain. I hope these exercises prove beneficial for you. I also have videos on my channel specifically addressing arthritic joint pain too!
@@HT-Physio I really like your videos because they’re explicit and the exercises are uncomplicated. I’m 71 and have bad knees. Your nose over toes really works for getting out of a chair. It’s so simple and so effective. I’ll be trying getting off the floor next.
Hey Will, I really like this exercise! I performed 3 sets of 12 using a 25lb dumbbell while alternating between 3 sets of 20 heel raises. I experienced delayed onset muscle soreness for a few days, but I’m recovered from that now. Thanks for the guidance!
OK, I'm definitely going to try these exercises. At first, I was thinking they wouldn't be effective for my issue, but when it was said if the knees tend to give out or buckle, that gave me hope. Personally, I feel my issue is lack of lower leg strength and I have bilateral knee arthritis. I can definitely walk, but for short distances, unless it's at my pace and should be on even terrain. Otherwise, I feel like I'm running my legs into the ground, especially walking down an incline of even a small degree. Just walking up the 7 steps to my front porch, I have to grab onto the railing to help pull myself up, and when walking down the 7 steps, I do so sideways and babysteps, one at a time. Even when in a parking lot stepping downward just a couple inches (like a berm, for instance), I turn sideways and take a babystep down and don't care how stupid I look doing so. My knees are painful (right knee is painful at the front left & the left knee is painful to the right front) and I need to avoid moving in a pivot or turn/twist motion, otherwise I get real sharp pain. I'm "one of those people" when at the airport, I require wheelchair assistance to get me to the gate and upon landing, from the gate to baggage claim because. I'm mortified to be in a wheelchair. What bothers me about this is I know full well that when people see me get up and walk, they feel I'm faking a disability just to get wheelchair assist for early boarding - and I fully understand why people would think that, but I'm in too much pain and not able to walk long distances.
Only ignorant people think you are faking. I've got plenty of friends who rent a mobility scooter for conventions. (I valet-parked one for a friend I was dining with, and another friend said they didn't know I used one. Ha, ha.)
Thank you Will. As I'm a great believer in preventative tactics I'm trying to strengthen every part of my once-young body by following your you tube exercises. I love3 Tip Friday and have bought a journal to write them down. I wish I could buy your book from a bookshop and not have to cope with buying online!😢
❤ Will , so glad to watch your channel especially this video. My quads have all but disappeared the past 2 years (70). Ridden horses for years, walk dogs every day, but had 3 falls over last year, latest New Years Day tripping over a broom hamdle!! Bad concussion. These exercises and explanation are ideal. Thank You.
I'm so sorry to hear about your falls and the impact they've had! I hope these exercises offer a practical starting point as you begin rebuilding your strength again - I'm wishing you all the best :)
I'm 72 and have had a number of injuries to one of my legs; consequently it is considerably weaker than the other. These isometric exercises are just what my legs need, thank you!
It's been two weeks now. 0After doing this daily (I take Sun. off) I'm here to report my experience. 😄 I'm 78 and a couch potatoe. I could walk before but with some difficulty. NOW IT IS EASIER and LESS PAINFUL. Also my balance is better. If you are THINKING of doing this GO FOR IT ! IT WORKS. small warning....when the muscles start waking up it HURTS. But it is GOOD PAIN. .. Like a Jane Fonda pain....... NO PAIN. NO GAIN. big thanks Doc. P.S. small deinition too in my saggy ole butt😅
Your video is great, which helps relieve my pain by stretching my calves after only one exercise yesterday, but I keep doing it and share your videos to siblings. Your hard work is 10/10 🙌
Your videos are excellent and inspiring. They are more helpful than I have gotten from physiotherapists. I cannot believe how weak my legs have become in the last 3 years! I am 81 and have been trying to build up my strength and BALANCE. I cannot walk very far, and need a cane for balance as I’m afraid of falling. I cannot walk up and downstairs without a railing and my cane! I am going to work on these exercises faithfully and hope that my legs will get stronger.
I'm sorry to hear about the impact long covid and multiple surgeries have had for you, I hope these exercises offer a practical base which you can fit into your daily routine!
@@HT-Physio Thats actually why I love this channel, there are so many little exercises that I can build into my daily life (long covid sufferer as well) eg sitting in a chair or walking around, on stairs etc. Very grateful.

Will, I have done a form of these exercises but followed them w lengthening the quads w lying on the side, bending the knee backwards so that the heel touches the bum. 30 seconds.
As usual Will your exercises are so simple but so very effective. Thank you very much for reaching out to us who are over 50.

I have degenerative discs so maybe need to go carefully with the band one ?
Thank you your videos have been a great help for me.
Best of luck Maureen!!
flattening your back to the floor is essential. Or as my trainer says "Pull your bellybutton to your spine."
That is fantastic to hear, I'm so pleased they offered such relief to keep you walking without pain. I'm wishing you all the best!
Hi Will I think your brilliant I have learnt so much from your program keep up the good work
So pleased to hear you've found my videos educational - thank you for watching!
Thank you Will you’re the man 👍
Thank you so much!
Thanks Will. I’m going to try these exercises. 76 years old
Great work!
Finally.
Cheers!
Will you have been a game changer so very grateful and appreciate your videos and showing how you care for us seniors 50 up❤
Thank you so much, it's great to hear my videos have been helpful! It's my pleasure to be able to share my work :)
*Tell your families and friends about this channel, this can benefit and make them, healthy too* !!!
What else I do, so I don't forget, I will video each exercise onto my cellphone, this way, I can use the video
on my phone and it would be easier to look at . But I do this AFTER , I first watch Will Harlow entire Video.
I make it easier for myself . And I also add it on, My Favorites. I will always make a Short cut /Save it .
Thank you for your advice! I have a knee injury now but, will be following your direction as soon as possible.
excellent videos!
thank you!
Very happy to help!
Thanks a lot. I ' m a 60 yrs female, undergoing Artheritis joint pain. My doctor introduced the 2nd exercise to strengthen the muscles of the foot .
I'm sorry to hear about your joint pain. I hope these exercises prove beneficial for you. I also have videos on my channel specifically addressing arthritic joint pain too!
Thanks Will, please put up more videos for the senior citizens
I received your book, today, and started reading it. So far, I've learned a lot and I'm only on page 18.
Thank you for purchasing my book, I hope you continue to find it interesting and educational!
@@HT-Physio I really like your videos because they’re explicit and the exercises are uncomplicated. I’m 71 and have bad knees. Your nose over toes really works for getting out of a chair. It’s so simple and so effective. I’ll be trying getting off the floor next.
Great video 👍🏼
Thank you!
Thank you. I will let you know how I get on. I have severe arthritis in my knees and lower back so I promise to be careful.
شكرا جزيلا 😊
Hey Will, I really like this exercise! I performed 3 sets of 12 using a 25lb dumbbell while alternating between 3 sets of 20 heel raises. I experienced delayed onset muscle soreness for a few days, but I’m recovered from that now. Thanks for the guidance!
Thanks 🙏
You're welcome :)
Thank you for these videos and also speaking respectfully .
It's my pleasure to help :)
thank you - I am 97.
Great video Will! I'm curious, did you have to care for a loved one with problems? What got you into the over 50 care? Cheers
Definitely going to do these. Due to ankle injury, my legs have gotten away with murder😂
I'm sorry to hear about your injury - I hope these prove helpful for your legs!
Thanks so much Wil for caring the age with pain
Very happy to help!
Ha, ha.)
Today going to order this book. I have already saved about 10 videos. Thanks for the job you are doing.
Great you're saying we're all guaranteed another 10 days, awesome, thanks! 🌈🤗🏳🙆
These exercises are so very helpful. I look forward to your new videos every week. Thank you Will!
So pleased to hear they're helpful - thank you for watching!
❤
I am 86 and l needed this am doing this exercise as l am watching you and l believe it will really help me Thank you❤❤
Great to hear you're putting these into practice, I hope they prove beneficial for you!
Will, Thank You sincerely for caring 🙏🫶
It's my pleasure!
I'm 72 and have had a number of injuries to one of my legs; consequently it is considerably weaker than the other. These isometric exercises are just what my legs need, thank you!
I'm glad my video is able to offer the help you need! I'm wishing you all the best :)
It's been two weeks now. 0After doing this daily
(I take Sun. off) I'm here to report my experience. 😄 I'm 78 and a couch potatoe. I could walk before but with some difficulty.
NOW IT IS EASIER and
LESS PAINFUL.
Your hard work is 10/10 🙌
I'm so pleased to hear you've found my video beneficial - thank you for sharing my work as well, it means a lot to me. Wishing you all the best 😃
I am 72 and have very weak legs. Going to start these exercises today! Thank you!
I will surely do it .I am 61 . Thanks for sharing.
I hope these exercises prove helpful for you! I'm wishing you all the very best :)
Thanks. This is practical and doable. I lost alot of strength (long covid+surgeries) I started today and looking forward to 10 days time!👍🏼
I'm sorry to hear about the impact long covid and multiple surgeries have had for you, I hope these exercises offer a practical base which you can fit into your daily routine!
@@HT-Physio Thats actually why I love this channel, there are so many little exercises that I can build into my daily life (long covid sufferer as well) eg sitting in a chair or walking around, on stairs etc. Very grateful.
Thank you for this useful exercises .I have passed 60 i need to this exercises to build more stronger legs.Thank you again.May god bless you.

Love your videos. As someone who was in the Olympics when I was younger (now 60) your advice and exercises are wonderful!
What an achievement! It's great to have your endorsement of my work, thank you☺
Iam 73 and get tired on the bike. I'm sure I can do so much more still. I think you just gave me the right form. Thank you much.
