    That leisurely response must hurt their "out the chute", unless they status en route when the doors go up. Unless they have AVL the their gas will show they have broken the go fence around the station and show their actual en route time and accurate out of chute time.

    They seemed so much slower than UK fire crews,like any time would do,no hurry guys keep it burning until we get there.I remember my local part time fire brigade where they were all at work and had to get to the fire house before the truck could roll. They could turn out with a full crew in four minutes from getting the call.

  • @SPUDHOME
    @SPUDHOME 24 дні тому +1

    As a retired fire fighter, I feel I can say. That is the slowest, lamest, sad looking. Station response I have ever seen. That crew walked in circles, picked their noses, scratched their asses. Acted like if they waited long enough, the call would be canceled. Because the building collapsed and the fire burned itself out. A real fire department uses 45 seconds to get the engines / trucks out. Then the doors automatically shut. I guess they don’t have any doors left, so they can take all night, no problem. Citizens of ny

    The one thing I constantly notice about videos like these, is that, first responders don't always_show a sense of urgency! It's almost as if they're not in hurry to save a life or, put out a fire. One would think otherwise. One would think that ppl posing in front of the fire house would walk with a sense of urgency & get out of the way. I guess too them it's no big deal!

    looking at the comments and the fact that the incident could have been an alarm, that alarm has many a time been an actual fire, we in the UK have to be out the doors regardless of incident type in 1 minute. The comment saying the old captain would have gone mad is true.....i still do if we dont turn out in the agreed time

  • @eresbyjack
    @eresbyjack 5 років тому +1

    I had the privilege when visiting New York to see these guys responding exactly as this video shows and i saw the idiots walking in front of the fire station while they are exiting and the traffic outside blocking there exit route. All NYFD fire stations should have traffic control lights installed outside where by they can press a stop button and turn the signal from green to red so they can get out in a hurry and have the road marked with a yellow box area and if you stop or park in it you will receive a ticket, as for pedestrians well a few are idiots and even a physical barrier would not stop some of them. Love NYFD/NYPD and the people of New York had a fantastic stay.

    • @captured911
      @captured911  6 років тому

      it´s very common for FDNY Firehouses to have a Engine only or Engine and Ladder. Midtown Firehouse is one of the bigger Stations with an Engine, Ladder and Battalion :o) FDNY Stations are located very tight together in Manhattan to provide every part quickly. Biggest problem is the traffic madness all day ^^

      koala master that loves koalas: My question was Where was the urgency, because I didn't see any. The people I saw in the station were strolling about, leisurely putting their gear on and seemingly without any sense of urgency. I know that if it was my ass on fire that day I think I would like to hope that the firefighters were on their way quickly!

    • @JeffrevinYT
      @JeffrevinYT 7 років тому +5

      Ken Norman For the record, this is a city with roughly three hundred companies. One company can easily cover for another, and they could have been a later due unit than the first due. If it was a full scale fire and they were first due, _then_ they'd be running people over.

    • @Ken_Norman
      @Ken_Norman 7 років тому +3

      I understand what you are saying but, the mere fact that they had been turned out to the incident meant that they were required there as an emergency service. I would like to have seen some sense of urgency that's all. In my time as a firefighter in the UK (retired now) I was working in a disciplined service where "every second counts" when life and property are at risk. It just seems so alien to me to see fire appliances turning out to an incident without the sense of urgency on display that I was so used to being a part of.

    • @dmac6004
      @dmac6004 7 років тому +3

      But not necessarily as the first in company. As many on here note NY rolls a lot of equipment to a fire, just in case. Some call it overkill, NY would say better safe than sorry, do it with the police also. This is the really big city do not forget.

    • @JeffrevinYT
      @JeffrevinYT 7 років тому

      kevin62387 Actually, the PA comes in at :30, and they light off the trucks and the Battalion at around the minute mark, takes them an additional fifty more seconds or so to stop foot and vehicle traffic, then pull out. That's only a minute and a half, on good days it takes them under fifty.

    • @kevin62387
      @kevin62387 7 років тому +2

      Thanks for the info pal. It amazes me the pedestrian traffic that continues to walk by once they light up and I can see that vehicles most likely block the driveway. We have a traffic light at our HQ's but that is not possible in the big city. Do you still have ERS boxes on corners? Seems like pay phones & ERS boxes are a thing of the past since cell phone took over. But I guess a cell phone in the city gets directed right to dispatch center, unlike here where a call could go to the local town but also could go to any one of the surrounding towns or the State Police depending on what tower it hits.

      Pluff Mudd Weren't counting the time it takes for them to actually stop traffic. Engine 253 down here in Bensonhurt gets out generally within a minute.

      I'm the son of a retired firefighter . Where I am from the firefighters get out the door and on the road as fast as possible. If vehicles are in the way they'd better move because the firefighters don't slow down!

      Truly unacceptable especially when minutes count in a life and death situation.

    More and more American fire trucks evolve into European fire trucks. For instance, no longer do American firemen stand on the back board, but everyone now rides in an extended cab, the turntables of aerial ladders are now mounted at the rear of the ladder truck as in Europe rather than being located behind the cab. BLUE LIGHTS on fire trucks! Are red and white lights being phased out? They are even putting red and yellow caution stripping on the backs of fire engines and ambulances. The emergency vehicles of Britain had this on then for decades. Lastly, no more open cab fire engines. The American fire engine has lost it's unique character.
