That is one hell of a good diagnosis. You followed the path one step at a time to come to the fault. Well done, Rich. Combination of experience and training cannot be beaten.
Great troubleshooting. This should be helpful to all of us that have these backup batteries in this situation. Why is it so hard to hook up the red cable to the positive and a black cable to a ground?
I can see why someone would mistake the jump points. On my wife's SUV, it also has a remote battery, but it is easier to see where to connect jumper cables.
Aux battery applications are quite popular with all the large automotive makers. They tend to be used to power, accessories, and auxiliary loads when the vehicle is in accessory mode only or the vehicle is off. AGM batteries, either the auxiliary battery or the main battery tend to have a life of 3 to 5 years. If you have the main battery go bad it’s also likely that the auxiliary battery isn’t in great shape either as sulfate or sulfating for these batteries occurs when the batteries are at a state of charge of 80% or less. With that, this was an excellent video.
I have one of these WK2 and had a similar problem when swapping the battery, these fuse blocks are pathetic where you cannot replace the fuse but need to buy the $100 assembly. Piss poor design...
Having seen many AMC models in the 80s at tire and oil shops I've been wondering the same thing about Stellantis stuff lately too. Haven't worked in a shop in 15+ years but I try to keep up with what's what.

Excellent job Rich!

Come across this twice on these, I think it was a Pacifica and then a town and country
Do you think it's possible that the radio turning on and off was a byproduct of the low voltage? Digital devices get flaky when the voltage drops.
@davidmitchell7183 I did say in the video thays what probably killed the aux battery
I have a 2012, no aux battery, as it doesn't have the engine start/stop system that manufacturers force on you now.

Saw you on infowars the other day man! 😎

Why not just make a simple car. Hell of a diag Rich!!!
I wonder if Stellantis > AMC? We’ll see!

Mine has 1 large Gel battery not two
Am I going to buy a Jeep ?….. Doubtful !…….. Thanks Rich
Its the starter
Jeep = Just Empty Every Pocket. Even worse the newer they are because of government regulations and poor quality parts .
Looks like my Grand Cherokee except 5.7 Hemi. The PentaStar is junk
It's a good engine
