Mariner's character arc is well done. People don't always grow at the speed you may want them to, and growth is not always linear. That's something I like about the show.

@@frostmagemarii Strange New Worlds is pretty awesome. Oh well, you're delusional. I've heard identical complaints when Enterprise came out, too, and now it's considered a classic. And when Voyager came out (I'm old) as well.

@@PetersaberHD Haven't watched Strange New Worlds. The last near decade of Trek has turned me off watching anything more; I'm tired of giving the franchise chances.
And the only complaints you heard when Enterprise came out was how it put in a 9/11 like event too soon after the actual event and the arc that resulted from it. The majority of people enjoyed everything that wasn't the Zindi arc. But yes, gloss over the WHY people complained.
