      The unmarked car was in the correct lane and did nothing wrong. The BMW driver was in a lane that meant they intended to take the third exit on the roundabout.
      Even if you indicate to change lanes, you have to yield to vehicles already in that lane. Meaning, just because you indicated doesn't mean you CAN change lane. You have to wait until it is safe to do so, which the BMW driver did not do. They could have simply and safely gone around the roundabout again which would have taken all of 5 seconds.

      We’ve all missed a turn. Go around the roundabout, get in the proper lane, make your exit. A random signal does not give you carte Blanche to do whatever the fuck you feel like, and no road user is obliged to yield when you are entering their lane, the onus is on you not to do so until it is safe. This is terrible driving.

The Highway Code cannot cover every difficult situation.@@mehashi

    • @mehashi

      @@ianpalmer4840 It was random, because the signal was for the next exit, but he was using it incorrectly to cut across a lane and use a different exit from the one he was indicating to use. This is the same on your test. If you are in the wrong lane it will not be marked as a fault if you follow the lane, but if you try to cut across like this or move your car otherwise in accordance to your indication, that is a dangerous fault for which you will fail the test. It is up to the driver changing lanes to ensure it can do it without forcing another road user, particularly one already in that lane to change speed and/or direction.
      At 0:13-0:14 you have an excellent view of the police car taking evasive action by swerving and braking.
      Forcing another road user to change speed and/or direction is driving without consideration for another road user (see rule 144 for what the Highway Code and law has to say about that), as well as being dangerous.

      @byteme9718 8 місяців тому +1

      @@stephenbranley91 The roads are full of idiots and clearly you're one. YES the driver who was in the incorrect lane was in the wrong but there was absolutely no need for the police car to take the action he did. if you disagree then state how you think making a bad situation worse helped.
      The police should be setting an example of good driving, not set out to cause accidents. The police driver was fully aware of the car indicating and should have realised its driver would almost certainly follow through with his intention. All he needed to to was back off and allow him into the lane and then, if necessary, pull him over a little later when it was safe. Instead he blocks him out to the point he has to not only back off, he also swerves towards the left lane and most likely, momentarily entered it.
      It clearly isn't a covert vehicle as it doesn't have lights and for that reason, to effect a stop the driver then has to carry out an overtake on the ghost island before stopping the car from ahead at which point he's caused both to block the lane. I very much doubt that this is acceptable procedure given the circumstances but this would vary according to which constabulary.
      All the police driver needed to do was back off (which he had to do anyway) and if there was really a need he could have stopped the car after the roundabout and dealt with driver. Better still, would be to follow up later with a NIT, a notice of intended prosecution. Presumably the (at least) two officers had nothing better to do than address their misguided hurt feelings. In this case the passenger who was unlikely to have seen the car signalling but probably shit himself (as he was closest to the truck) because of his colleagues poor driving.
      I won't tell you about my driving career because I don't like to boast and you wouldn't believe it. I would however suggest you take a course on defensive driving or take an IAM driving course and test. Clearly you think proving a point is more important than avoiding a collision so "Christ, I hope I never encounter you on the roads."!
