@@jwwilliam6333 25% is 1/4. That means if you make $1000 a month, you are donating $250 of that to charity. How would you pay your mortgage? Your bills? What's about your children's schooling? Your medical expenses. From what I heard, medical fees in America is so high some people need to get gofundme campaigns to get surgery.
A business is a business because it's making money. If your business is not making money, then that's a hobby. Before you want to help others, you need to first make sure that you are capable of helping them. This couple is not standing on solid ground. I'll tell you why this is a problem on so many levels.
      1. They have no patent, and therefore, there is no protection for their products, and thus they rely on branding and reputation only. Unfortunately, they have neither.
      2. Their product is very easily copied. There is no proprietary designs in their product. There is nothing particularly special about it.
      3. I can name 5 products on sale online right now that do pretty much the same things that this product does, and they are likely better than this. The only thing that can make this product rise high is branding.
      4. 25% of profit is HUGE. You see, for a private company, when you make $1000 in profit, the shareholders do not get $1000 in income. Out of this $1000 in profit, the shareholders will generally get only 10%-20% of it. The rest of the money would be used to expand the company. Growth, growth, growth, that's how you become sustainable. This couple wants to pay charity higher than they want to pay their own shareholders.
      5. This couple do not seem to know how business works. Their product is way overpriced (one competitor I've seen sold at less than half), they do not know basic business sense, their product is frankly of poor quality (a friend of mine bought it from amazon and said it quit working after a month) and they do not seem to care about profit.
I get it, they want to help people. They want to give everything away to people who needs them. That's fine, good for them. The problem is, they're trying to appeal to investors, not philanthropists. If they want to get funding for charity, they went to the wrong people.

What they failed to see was, Robert taking 100% would have gotten the product's cost down and would be selling units, units that could help people with lighting issues around the world. If it comes with a reasonable "lifetime warranty" I would be more than willing to pay the 60 for a good solar light/charger. The price of EVERYTHING is soaring up and up. 750k was fair for them to trade a business they built with their hearts. (nonprofit is from the heart) when Robert would be able to take this whole design and fly with it and make back plenty of profit back, and be able to patent it fast!

To be fair though, I've seen many versions of a flashlight similar to this. If I'm going to spend 60 bucks, I can buy a high end durable multipurpose flashlight and a durable power brick for the same cost.
And now that the owners realize the importance of having a patent, they themselves can patent it being that they designed their own lenses for it. Thus increasing their own value if they were to offer a stake in their business in the future. It's unwise to fully hand over your business to a billionaire who knows how to make money and has all the connections... They could have done 500k for 80-95% and still recieved a nice income. Multi purpose flash light are one of those products I've always been interested in as a kid. There are always so many novelties to it. First it was a kinetic torch I had as a kid, then solar and also these multi functional ones that can turn to la tern and all. They all seems great and very useful but the problem is always the longevity of it.
Most kinetic torch can light pretty well at first but cant really charge well anymore no matter how much you squeeze them, you'd basically have to constantly squeeze them to get a weak pulsing light. Those USB rechargeable and solar rechargeable lights also dont charge well after several uses.
I doesnt even have to be quick at charging it just need to reliable and consistent. At that price I 'd want one that shines just as bright after many uses at least.
The phone usb charger I feel is unnecessary and should be a separate product. Like solar charged power bank. But since they're selling it as like an emergency durable flash light it has to be too very durable. It may hold up in that ice but the looks of it just
Doesnt seem durable. They should show how well it still performs after being submerged in water or mud and also physical abuse like dropping from a height and such.
Even something as simple as the on off switch is problematic. One of the sharks asks how to switch it on. Judging from the looks of it it's because they are placed right beside the logo with the same colouring and size and even line thickness of the logo not to mention its flushes to the surface too.the surface seems too smooth for something that's meant for harsh conditions. I dont even understand why the body is that flat when the reading light is not even that wide, seems like it would make it difficult to hold as a regular flash light. Besides considering how the reading light is place without as shade or some moveable parts to angle it down, it is not very practical as a reading lamp or a table lamp.
There's just so many things that isn't very practical, they need a better designer for this product.

"$60 is too expensive" - Sharks
Meanwhile, they all probably have iPhones with $60 basic charging bricks 🤣

except charging bricks are way less than 60$ This light is chinese made single LED bulb , literally costs 20-30$ MAX anywhere online. robert would've lost money if he bought it at 500k, horrible outdated product and price.

The everyday person probably wouldn’t spend that amount though. The sharks are wealthy.

The offer was beyond degrading, I am glad they did not sell. Robert knows the product is worth so much more. My family has been off grid for almost 3 years and have been looking for a device like this one. I would pay $60 and buy several.
