- A quick overview of a 1999 GMT400 platform LS swap. The spider injection vortec engines share a lot of functionality with the 99-02 LS truck platform so you can make cruise, abs, ac and gauges work like factory.

This is very helpful! Ive goty.eye on a 98 z71 that has been sitting for 2-1/2 years. I plan on fixing the usual rust, shining it up, and swapping a 6 liter ls into it. This gives me a lot more confidence!

So on the AC, it all was possible cause you run a mechanical fan? I'm running dual gm electric fans and I'm having a hard time getting the AC to work right.
LS1tech.com has a few threads on making it work, the ecm needs to see the ac pressure via the factory sensors

3:30 yes it was heated seats 50A, How did you get TPS to the trans?
all the obs trans wires were pinned into the LS computer
Reference source on Lt to Ls pin out chart would be very nice

you dont mess with any of that wiring
@@HsPerformanceWi some of the wires for example, 2 purple 1 white and 1 brown wire all have pins at the end are just there all from the original obs harness
Everything is plugged in its wires sticking out from that leg of the harness

@@HsPerformanceWithanks a lot man. I seen that one but wasn't sure since they said it was for an S10. This is hands down the best OBS LS swap I have seen. Im pretty much copying your swap on my 97 K1500 except I'm pairing the LS up to my factory 5 spd. Thanks for the reply.
I have 2000 k3500 5.7 with a 4l80e. Will that trans work with a 6.0? Or will i have to get one from an ls?
all 4l80e's will work with a 6.0l. Early ones had both cooler lines up front, 1997 and up 4L80E's are all the same. The only thing different between sbc and LS versions is the converter shield
@HsPerformanceWi sweet so my 2000 sbc 4l80e would bolt up and work with the 6.0 wiring and ecu ect? Everyone is telling me I had to get a ls specific 4l80e since my sbc trans wouldn't working with ls wiring and computer.
I don't know where you are getting your info, but this is fairly basic common knowledge in the gmt world. 4L80E's from 1997 up to when they stopped making them in 2013 are all the same
@@HsPerformanceWiI'm normally a car guy, I've used manuals in my projects and daily drivers my whole life then kids came lol the "truck" guys at work were telling me since I still belive in conversation over Google but you tube for the save. I appreciate the info it really saved me some money.
What alternator did u use for the bracket
bracket is in the description, alternator is stock from the truck
Just to clarify the alternator off of the 5.7 right?
@jaydub3769 correct. Either the 5.7 or the 6.0L alternator will work, but the one from the 6.0L was a larger framed 145 amp unit and the AC line was a bit stretched around it and we opted for the smaller one
