Talent helps, of course. But practice is king.

I am on the "calling out bs" train as well. When "doctored" videos are taken at face value and are perceived as real, it sets a bad standard for everyone. Cheers! 🍻

Speed is a thing of practice, going faster and faster but sometimes getting out of the "confort zone" by playing other genre, new techniques and so on can help you in your drumming and also refresh a bit the mind with new stuff new ideas etc

I'm 14 and I don't use triggers! It took me a long time of boring double bass endurance practice to record Eagle Fly Free by Helloween. So practice is the key man🤘

I'm sure El Estephano ( not even going to try spell it ) .... that bearded Brazilian animal ... I'm sure he said in a recent video it took him 80 odd takes. More often than not, even when it comes to recording legendary tracks and albums, the musicians who come out looking like legends are the ones who had the mental willpower to sit through that amount of takes. Countless times I have heard legendary musicians say that producers made them record the parts anywhere up to 50 times. A good musician trusts their producer and a good producer breaks musicians in order to get that perfect take. Unless you're in the Wrecking Crew, those badasses just roll into the studio, make a mockery of everyone by nailing their parts in 2 or 3 takes and then move onto the next project. No gigging musician should ever compare their talent to that of professional session musicians, those types of musicians are on another level.

lets go we got 2 videos in the past 2 days that don't happen often good shit johnny
what i think is that if your using triggers i feel like its cheating maybe im wrong but thats what i think it is.
    * i think it can be Natural Talent cause if you talented at a instrument it comes natural to have a head start at learning the ins and outs of a instrument, Practice cause weather you have talent at the instrument or not you can learn how to play it if you put in the hours and the work, and Gear cause if you really want to get the best out of yourself you kind of got to go to place in your mind where you can kick into 2nd gear and go crazy when needed

The questions in at the end - all of them is true. And of course gear matters. Not in all ways, but in many ways it does matter.

“Dude, I can blast beat at 300 bpm!” Yeah, but I still think blast beats sound like shit. Play me a funky pocket, then we’ll talk.

@user-rd6we5hx7c every genre has something to offer,I'm not a metal fan but I appreciate it's nuances and techniques. I'm not sure what I'd list as "the worst genre" ,have to think about that one..

I don't have an issue with "editing magic" so long as the artist owns up to it. Most of them I enjoy listening to say right up front the their perfect take took several dozen tries. Practice and persistence.

Editing drums, especially in metal genre, killed the whole human aspect of playing your instrument and improving on it. Why even bother to perfecting your hand technique, if your every hit will be quantized to grid and amped by samples in post anyway?
But playthroughs are on a whole another level of putting unrealistic expectations into drummers' heads.

I have been playing since 75. They are doing no more then a DCI style on a trap set. There is no grove. And not much heart and soul. Just playing fast don't cut it..

Triggers be fake kicks. I dont own a drum set anymore and can still 1 foot blast 230 EZ all day and dont even get tired. Fuck those losers with sets and studios who still need a fake kick. Tell them to stop skipping leg day and practice.

Then my guy, I swear to god, you cannot. You may twitch your leg muscles, but you can't foot blast fucking 230bpm. No.
