    I really like that you brought up this disparity. There's no need for artists to suffer. A responsible artist must address the realities of our socioeconomic system. If they can't pay their bills with their art, it has to take a back burner to achieving that objective.

    Great video dude, some good points you’re bringing up In the metal community sometimes it feels like you can’t win, growing up being labeled a “sell out” in anyway was the ultimate fear whether that be by the type of music you play, listen to outside of the band you’re in, how you look, etc etc… As a musician who’s heavily distanced themselves from the community but still loves the music (and loves and appreciates the many sub genres) it just seems so dumb and cannibalistic for us to think like that. How can we ever expect our favorite underground artist to survive?… Even now, I struggle to release any music (inside and outside the metal label) because I can still hear the “sell out” diatribe in the back of my mind. Is that still the way people talk? I’m so far removed I have no idea

    I always enjoyed rock metal more than rap, but for me true rap music died in the early 2000's, Em, 50 being among the last ones that had good rap. This day, rappers trying to sing using autotune, stupod lyrics, abusing the hell off the n word and as violent as possible to me its just a joke and stupid as can be. I rather listen to Britney Spears than crap like Drake, Kanye or whatever its out there now

    I dropped out of the Metalcore/Deathcore/Grindcore music for a good decade or longer because I just wasn't being captivated by what bands were putting out and any new bands that were popping up, just didn't quite pull all the elements together properly. So, I just stopped investing my time and energy into that music because I was tired of fruitless efforts. When Will Romas joined Lorna Shore and they put out To The Hellfire, I only went to listen because it was on everyone's tongue, and once I heard it, I understood why. Will is a Master of his Craft, joined up with Austin Archey, a beast on the drums, and the two S tier guitarists Adam DeMicco and Andrew O'Conner brought all those elements together flawlessly. Their songs are amazingly brutal and filled with a great bombardment of vocals and beats, but it's all very open, and nothing is fighting to be at the front of what your ears hear. Will can also write phenomenal lyrics. The Pain Remains I, II, and III are a huge example of that. Proving he's not just a vocalist but a fantastic lyracist, too. A lot of people are jealous that Dickey Allen didn't get praise for his goblin scream. He is a good Deathcore vocalist, but in my opinion, he doesn't have the range or clarity that Will does. Which is why his contribution didn't blow up like Lorna Shore -To The Hellfire did. Alex Terrible is another one that's doing fantastic vocals with an impressive range even though he sticks to his mids and lows more often. He's another one who put a lot of time and practice into perfecting his deathcore vocals. We absolutely need more vocalists and lyricists to put in the time to practice and come to the forefront of the genre to impress us with their skills and writings. Anyone who thinks these vocals are too nasty or aren't original enough need to reevaluate what genre they're listening to that they enjoy because it certainly isn't Deathcore. Thank you for reading my rant 😅

    In short, yes. Phil is an undeniable racist. Proven so. No point in defending him just cos you like Pantera. If you resonate with his words, then just admit it. Dime I dont think was racist, his words are decades old and obviously not said in malice. Neither was Vinnie. Never heard either of these guys say anything racist, Vinnie wasn't throwing up nazi salutes despite loving a drink just as much as Phil. Phil is a piece of shit. He was always a horrible cunt, so many shit stories about him it's pointless trying to defend him despite his music being awesome.

    I was an amp praiser before, but now I find them... limiting and just expensive and all I need to buy is a speaker with a flat response and a laptop or a good 250$ multi fx to get any sound I want... well accept that we're heading towards the future and I think amps are... old...

  • @dougc84
    @dougc84 19 днів тому

    I think you've got some good points, but you're flat out wrong. Limitations, indeed, do help push people in all fields - from songwriting to coding software. And there's nothing wrong with analog amps. But the fact that you completely dismiss "amp in the room" sounds from modelers means you've used them one way and one way only. Disabling an IR and running into a power amp and cab gets you that same feel, with dozens of amps at your disposal. And whether or not you use it that way, who cares? Who cares if someone wants the same tone as Steve Vai or Alan Holdsworth or the boys from Polyphia? Not everyone plays to be creative and publish content. Some people just want a simple solution. Both software and hardware amp modelers provide presets to help users find out what they like, what they don't like, and what works for them. The best way to find out what you like is modelers. Today, buying an amp worth a damn is going to cost as much as a used car. This isn't 1999, Limp Bizkit isn't on the radio, and you can't pick up a Dual Rec for $899 at your local music store. Hell, you're not gonna be able to even find a music store these days in most places. But you can buy a modeler for $500 that has every sound most guitarists will ever need. Or $100 each for a few Neural plugins. And let's not even get started about the hundreds of pedal options at your disposal, to find out what kind of drives you like, or compressors, or delays, or reverbs, or modulation effects. And guess what? Those modeled sounds are damn near perfect, for a fraction of the cost. And it's easily repeatable, unlike a tube amp. A cold room might make a tube amp sound different than a warmer room, whereas plugging your HX Stomp direct to house is going to sound the same every time. It's repeatable and it sounds great. And no one in the audience is gonna give a damn. Having been around likely longer than you've been alive (proud elder millennial here), I can tell you I will never haul a half stack or 2x12 combo again. Maybe a 1x12. But why even do that when I've got every sound I need going into an Iridium, and I can go direct to house? And this "search for tone" stuff is dumb. Find something you like and play. You're not gonna make it to the front of Guitar World magazine by having a new, unique tone that no one has ever had. It's not gonna happen. Not in 2024. So find something you like. Play it. Stop caring if it sounds like someone else's tone. It doesn't matter. Because how you play is going to make more of a difference in how that amp sounds and is felt than whether or not you're using a "real" amp or a plugin or a preset that models a player you love or whatever.

  • @adaire451
    @adaire451 19 днів тому

    To be honest, I don't see your argument as being an amp modeler vs hardware argument. You could literally buy 10 hardware amps and different cabinets and make the exact same argument about there being too many options. The same issue can arise in both scenarios. It just so happens that amp sims and modelers cost less money than to have those same options on hardware, making this potential issue more accessible to the average player. In both case though, there's a simple solution: don't use all of your options. Pick the amp and cabinet you like for the purpose you want to use it for and then move forward. Option paralysis is a mental problem to be overcome rather than a gear problem.

    its made me far more productive using modellers, i can play whenever without bothering neighbors, when recording i dont have to mess around with having the perfect mic placement or worry about bumping the stand an inch off where it was, plus to practice i just plug in and turn on my monitors, not setting up pedal chains and fx loops, no waiting for tubes to warm up or cranking it to get the best tone personally i spend more time now playing and recording because of it, the logistics side of everything is so streamlined all thats left to do is work on music

    This is an fascinating topic and philosophical perspective. People do tend to overcome limitation through creativity. However the electric guitar was invented in 1932 after itself going through a long evolutionary process. Certainly over the past 100 years the boundaries of possibility have been pushed both through technical advancement and individual creativity. While I think it is wise to start with the basics when learning, once someone is reaching the point of recording their work, technology is the great equalizer. Before this current tech was available musicians were strictly limited by their fungible resources and physical storage space. Now, there's much greater opportunity to procure a wider range (virtual) equipment and produce a wider range of sounds. I think that lends itself to even more possibility going forward. Will there continue to be people who use it as a crutch? Yes. But I suspect there are far more people who use it as leverage to make something great.

    Anybody who makes gear a focal point of their music is basically a hack. Expensive gear obviously helps, but only up to a certain point. The main reason to spend money is because of some limitation in your recording (lots of noise, unfixable shit tone) but the difference between expensive amps or guitar pickups is basically nothing, especially since speaker cabs make 10x more difference in your tone than anything else. Spend enough money to have your recordings sound good, but don't spend so much money that you have to huff farts just to believe your $2000 amp somehow sounds different from a $500 amp. As for live performances, just get loud enough speakers and powerful enough amps. At that point dialing a perfect tone for a live performance is gonna be pointless as long as everyone can hear the different instruments clearly enough.
