  • This product is a result of the research project “Participative Design of a Psychosocial Attention Model in Mental Health with the Montes de María Communities in the COVID-19 Sanitary Emergency context”. Held under the contract: 80740-886-2020, financed by Minciencias with resources from the Autonomous National Fund Patrimony of Financing for Science, Technology and Innovation.
    Project goals:
    To explore the way in which the sanitary emergency of COVID-19 has affected the mental health of community members from the Montes de María region, considering the perspective of key communitarian agents, health workers in charge of the region’s mental health attention, and local decision makers responsible of the mental health services.
    To characterize the relation between the communities and the mental health services available in the Montes de María’s region, considering the perspective of key communitarian agents, health workers in charge of the region’s mental health attention, and local decision makers responsible of the mental health services.
    To characterize from a participative perspective the local cultural practices related with mental health in the Montes de Maria communities under the context of the armed conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic.
    To participatively design, implement and evaluate the pilot version of a psychosocial attention model for mental health, which accounts the needs and cultural practices of Montes de María communities under the context of the sanitary emergency of COVID-19.
    Key Strategies for the Psychosocial Attention Model:
    Objective 4: Pilot Version of a Psychosocial Mental Health Attention Model, Co-constructed with the Montes de María Communities
    We suggest a deliberative model to consolidate policies and mental health attention programs. The planning of these must involve a conversation and continuous co-construction with the communities.
    Cooperate and train the social leaders as first responders in mental health related cases
    Coordinate efforts between the health and education systems for the identification and referral of the cases
    Prioritization and access strategies for the health services for people in rural areas
    Clarity and education about attention routes, especially in substance use and family violence.
