      Thanks so much for being here with us! We totally agree! There are lots of advanced English videos that focus on long and difficult words on very precise academic subjects, but we think it's much more impressive when students can talk about ordinary things in greater detail! We've focused on normal, everyday topics in every episode for this exact reason :)

    Review
    when I wake up, I will hit the snooze and thank for my loyal alarm. Then I will lay in my bed for several minutes and scroll my phone. Later I will get up and brush my tooth and wash my face. Then I whip up some toasts and make myself a cup of milk. This is my pretty standard/ fairly ordinary morning. I love these expression.
    Make myself a cup of a tea: means just make a cup for myself. The amount is very small and just can serve for myself.
    whip up some toasts: means just cook easy food without following the recipe due to lacking time.
    head off/head out: go out
    Thank you for your teaching😊

    Superb! ESL teacher here. Well structured. Well explained. I especially like the way you have focused on a just few vocab items and repeated them to make them hopefully memorable without being boring. This is quite challenging to listen to, but not impossibly so. Also like the juxtapositioning of Brit and American, again without being stuffy and overly analytical. Very much looking forward to finding more from you.

    We were taught that in the word "often" T is silent.. But Mark spelled T... I mean T sounded very apparently!!!

    • @highlevellistening
      @highlevellistening  4 місяці тому

      It really depends on the word *and* the accent of the speaker.
      The more you listen to our episodes, the more you'll realise that Kat (USA) pronounces "T" more like a "D". Whereas I (Mark - UK) pronounce the T more often, *or* I skip it at the end of words especially. On top of that, some stronger British accents skip the T more often, but I have a neutral accent, so most of the time you can hear mine - I hope that makes sense!

    Greetings!
    May God bless you all for your altruistic initiative to produce this instructive audio-visual material in order to contribute with the improvement of the levels (Intermediate and Advanced) in English language. Congratulations! I quite appreciated it. I have already concluded five important English Language courses here in Brasília - DF (Brazil) and I continue dedicating part of my time to the studies of it. Indeed, I have been studying the English language for a long time.
