How To Make A Watercolour Paper Pendant Using Brush Pens (2022)

- How to make a watercolor pendant is a craft video showing you how I created my small rectangle DIY paper pendants step by step.
In this video I use watercolor brush pens to show how quick and easy it is to create small paintings to use to make watercolor paper pendants.
Many people use traditional wet watercolors on bigger pieces of paper - however, this can seem daunting to anyone who has never painted or feels they 'can't paint'.
Using watercolor brushes and a small pad of means you can work practically anywhere.
I sat in my car and painted the designs I used in some of these pendants.
There are more sophisticated ways of making watercolor paper pendants but if you are new to this, my way is a great way to start exploring how to make watercolor jewlery. It is also a relatively fast way to get results.
My aim in sharing what I do is to encourage people who long to create but feel they 'aren't any good at it'.
I'm not particularly brilliant at art and craft, I'm just dedicated to constantly learning how to use what creative skills I do have to their best advantage.
Maybe you feel hopelessly inferior to crafters who seem to produce 'perfect' work but you shouldn't.
There will always be people who are 'better or worse' than us - but we all start somewhere.
Unless you start, you will never develop and grow in confidence.
If you hold back from creating because you fear failure, have a go at making these pretty watercolor paper pendants.
I also show you how to hang them on a neck cord in a very quick and easy way.
You will soon be proudly giving your beautiful watercolor pendants away as gifts and making more.
Thanks for reading and watching.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. I really needed to read this . In the course of taking care of my husband who has lung disease, I’ve lost interest in doing my crafts and I’ve been mad at myself for it so thank you.
Oh goodness I am so sorry to hear this - it is SO hard caring for loved ones - it really does leave you with very little time or motivation to craft. I absolutely get where you are at with finding it hard to get interested. But please try🙏 you need some kind of relaxation to recharge yourself. Much love to you and your husband 🙏💕xxx
@@RainbowLane thank you so much
I love these! If you don't have tiny punches I guess tiny stencils may be a good substitute or even hand paint your own designs. TFS!❤
Yes, that’s a great idea. And they might even look better if they aren’t uniform punched shapes - maybe more abstract looking. Thanks so much for watching and reaching out. Much appreciated. 🙏❤️
I'm glad you're back posting a new video! These are like mini cavasas you can wear. I love them, especially the heart ones! 👍
Thank you Alina - I really appreciate your comments 🙏 You are right - they are like mini canvases you can wear! Like being a walking art exhibit 😍 Thanks so much for watching. 💕
I really appreciate how you share your jewelry techniques with your viewers. I am an Artist who saw many tips you display that will encourage others to venture out and "test the waters"!😊😊 Jewelry making with paper 😮😊
Hi Janice - thank you for your lovely comment. I must go and see if you have a channel too - is your work on UA-cam? I’d love to see it. Thank you again, I really appreciate you taking time to reach out. 🙏❤️
Thank you for such a detailed explanation of your gorgeous jewelry. I'm getting out my watercolors now and giving it a shot!
You are very welcome - I hope you were really pleased with your results - it’s such good fun just playing around with color, not painting anything in particular. Many thanks for watching. 🙏❤️
I love water color and this jewelry is beautiful.
Thank you Sally, I appreciate that. And thanks also for watching. 🙏❤️
Love them, they are so beautiful and as you said not hard even though it looks that way.
Agradeço o vídeo de apoio motivação e carinho demonstrado por mim. Gratidão Amém Aleluia. É para algo de novo para fazer, suponho que amigo do ambiente. Gratidão Amém Aleluia

Hi Yvonne, many thanks. Greetings to you from England. Thanks so much for watching. 🙏💕
Thank you for explaining your process so well. The pendants are lovely!
Hi Linda, Glad you like them and thanks so much for reaching out. Thanks also, for watching, much appreciated. 🙏
On the tiny paintings you don't care for, try using a white ink pen (Jellyroll) to create some squiggles or lines on the paintings. I enjoy doing that so I don't waste the paper.😃
Hi Jeanne, thanks for that - yes great idea - I am a huge fan of white pens and the way they can help pull a failed image round. My only issue is not all white pens are created equal and some I’ve tried aren’t as bright white as I would like. But I will Google Jelly Roll and see if I can get one to try. Thank you! 💕🙏
Your paper work is so impressive in how paper beads or pendants are created! I often make designs for beads to sew what will work and what will not. By the way, I did Major in Art. Keep up the good wor.k!
Welcome back, with these lovelies!
Thank you! And thanks for watching, it’s much appreciated. 🙏❤️
Thank You from Puerto Rico.
You are so welcome Angelina🙏 Warmest greeting to you from England and thanks so much for watching💖
Oh I’m so excited to see these! I actually may be able to do this! I love these! So adorable! Can’t wait to try it! Thank you so much! Need to find punches though- much love to you!💕👋🥰
Hi Patti, so glad you like this and are going to have a go. I got my punch from a Dutch company called Vassen Creative - you can find them online. But if you are stateside, I don’t think they ship there. But worth a try to see if they do. Thanks so much for watching and reaching out 🙏❤️
These are beautiful. Just what I was looking for.
Hi Dorothy, glad you like them. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 💕🙏
Oh I love this idea I have wanted to try water colouring this is a perfect start for me I hate waste and this is perfect for me to get started thankyou for this I’m so glad I found you ….at the moment I am having a break from polymer clay but like to keep busy doing crafts so I’m off to try ❤
Hi Vera, you are very welcome - I’m glad you found me too, I really appreciate you watching. Polymer clay is a lovely medium - I love watching videos of people who make some really beautiful jewellery. Looks easy but I know it isn’t! Thanks again. 🙏💕
So,so,happy you’re back, have always loved your work
Thank you Sharon - I really appreciate that. Means a lot🙏💕
Please do show how you did that pink one.
Hi Linda, I did them all the same way as I show in the video and they just come out in random designs. It’s practically impossible to repeat, wgich is the beauty of making abstract designs - there are no two alike. I’d day just keep playing around with paints or brush pens and see what you get. Thanks so much for watching🙏💕
Wonderful project Gilly!! You do inspire me to be more creative!!

Hi Terrie-Marie, thank you so much for your lovely comment 🙏 I’ve wanted to be here so much but sometimes life just gets in the way - hopefully now spring is here and we have longer days I’ll be back on track 🤞Thanks for watching 💕
I love it!! Did you made a video of the technique u used to make the bright pink spots/ drips ?? I hope so. Greetings from the Netherlands 🪻🌷
Hi Belinda - no I didn't film that one - sorry! But it is really easy to do. You just paint the basecolour in watercolour and then when it's dry, get the other colours you want to use on top to make the spots and load your paint brush with each colour in turn. Hold the brush over the area where you want to spatters/spots and gently tap you paint brush, near the head of it, with another paint brush. So you are tapping the second paintbrush righ on top of the first one to make the paint spatter. Let each colour dry before doing the next. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching.🙏💕
Welcome back.. thanks for a fabulous tutorial 🙏🏽
Hi Joyce, so sorry I took so long to acknowledge your comment! Ironic you said welcome back and then I disappeared again! It's been a very challenging 7 months but I'm trying to get back into the swing here. Another video is in the pipeline. Many thanks for watching and reaching out.🙏
Love the video thank you
Hi Lisa, many thanks for your comment and for watching - I appreciate both.🙏💕
What are the clips on top called? I wish you’d list the supplies in description, for us not too savy looking things up! 😜👋🥰
Hi Patti, they are called flat pad pendant bails. I think I have some in my Amazon shops but if you just Google that term, you’ll find lots of shops selling them. I love them as they avoid the need to drill holes and they finish a piece off nicely. Apologies for not having a list! I will think about that for future videos. I usually put links to my shops on my blog and you can usually find the things I’ve used there. Maybe I need to be clearer on how to get stuff. 🤪 Many thanks for watching🙏❤️
Awesome!
Thank you Jeanne 🙏💕
Lovely video. Thank you so much
You are welcome - thank you for watching 🙏💕
thanj you
Thank you Jerrie - much appreciated. Sorry I took so long to respond and thank you for watching.🙏

Molto belli ma nn trovo link x i ganci..grazie❤
Hi Yvonne, I do apologise? It’s because my shop is in holiday mode right now as I haven’t been around to do any orders - but as I said, I will be opening it again very soon. 🙏💕
How many pieces do u glue together behind front piece?
Hi Erin, usually 5 is perfect. But of course, if you use thinner card you might need six. Thanks for watching. 🙏💕
Thank you so much. I watch all your videos. Absolutely love them. Thank you for sharing your creative gift with us.
You are very welcome Erin. Thank you for watching my videos, I really appreciate that. 🙏💕
very pretty ❤
did you pour resin to secure it???
Are you stacking 4 layers plus picture?
Hi Robyn, apologies for delay in replying. Yes, 4 plus pic but, it does depend on the thickness of the paper you use as to what you think looks right. Thanks for your question and for watching🙏💕
I really do love these and hope to make some. I don't see an Amazon shop listed anywhere. What are those little hangers called so I can get some? Thanks!
They are called bails I think
Hi Claudia Rose, I'm so sorry to take so long to respond. But as Bianca said in her response, they are called bails and I did get mine on Amazon. I'm so sorry I can't put a link to my shop here but there are links on my website (website address is in the about section of my channel). They really are brilliant little things to use and I hope you found some by now. Let me know if you didn't. I'm UK based and I got mine on .co.uk as opposed to .com. Thanks for watching.🙏
90% of diy video are too long.. Too much talking
Many thanks for your kindness 🙏
Thank you for your kindness... Most people respond negative on konstruktive criticism....
I Dont know for the other, but for me are too long, too much talkung most of diy video s
I agree Aida, some are too long and wordy but some people do like that. And I really don't mind your constructive criticism - it is kind of you to take the time to tell me how it is for you. You didn't have to bother. My last few videos have been shorts for that very reason - very short and no talking at all. They might be more to your liking. Thanks again 🙏❤️
I forget that I have 20 years of expirience with diy... Some people work for the first time
Anywa,y, Im glad to sms with you❤
You too Aida - lovely to chat with you.🙏💕
