I just rescued one of these from the darkness of a big box store, and I knew Mr. Sheffield would have a video to help me care for it. It looked a little stressed because the soil was sopping wet, but it’s looking a bit better now that it’s dried out some and has some bright, indirect light.
I purchased a monstera adensonai on Amazon 1 month ago. There were 2 stems and I tried to convert them directly from soil to LECA. My results are fantastic. Rich healthy roots and new leaves each week and no risk of fungus gnats which have been a problem but mostly gone now. Love your videos!!
Oh perfect video, I just picked up this baby today, usually £10 but I found it for £5 in the half dead section, glad I found an easy one, it's gonna survive yeah, but only because of you :) Thanks a mill...
I have just divided and repotted my monstera adansonii. I needed some more info so I am back here watching your video. When my plant arrived, I was scared to divide it even though I have seen there are multiple plants in the pot. Over a month and many videos, cuttings, propagations, replantings etc later... today was the day... I have divided my adansonii and ended up with 5 plants 😍. Each of them is now relaxing in their own pot, enjoying all the space just for themselves. One of them got a trellis straight away. Two will need to wait a bit longer for theirs. Fourth one will get a moss pole soon and the last one is a tiny one that went straight into water-rooting-nutrient solution until it has stronger root system. I absolutely adore monstera adansonii. No idea why 😁 Don't have much space to grow it huge but I hope I can get one of them vine around my bathroom just below the ceiling, another one climbing up a moss pole and third one trailing down in the conservatory. All the others... I will probably just use for propagations and sell them so they won't be growing too far for too long 😊
I wasn't planning on getting one of these, but I did bring one home a couple days ago. It was only $10. What really sold me on it was the texture of the leaves. They're like satin and feel similar to a Philo micans.
I rescued one from Woolworths a few months ago, it was looking very brown and crispy but now it’s lush and green and pushing out multiple leaves a fortnight. It’s one of my favourites now
Just rescued one of these poor babies from the Walmart graveyard for a steal! Came straight to you to learn how to save him. (My 11 year old lovingly named him Fred.)
Im so glad in came across this video because im fairly new to plants and i have two of these but assumed they were the other monstera you mentioned 🤦 thank you
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you take us all to make sure we treat our plants well and healthy too. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤❤ could you show us all the type of compost that is best for this stunning plant. ❤❤❤❤
Mine just has one really looooooong vine growing and the leaves at the bottom are tiny, I repotted it into a larger one but it’s still just vining outward so far. My plant identification app said it was an obliqua but I knew there was no way that was correct after I did some research. I was worried I ended up with a hard to please plant, I love the way monsteras look! This video was very helpful.
Mine just arrived today. After unboxing, I gave the leaves shower and watered the soil. My next step was wrapping two of the stems into kitchen wrap with bit of wet soil to air propagate. Poor thing, after spending 2-3 days on the road it does not even get a bit of relax and is immediately expected to grow roots, ideally yesterday 😁
The best tip I got for this is, that the leave surface is very reduced so it looses less water over its leaves and needs less watering! And jes, it needs less water than an equally bis plan without holes.
Mine grows so fast and bushy. I have clippings on the surface of my aquariums as they grow long rots and absorb the nitrates in my tanks. No leaves in the tank, they can be poisonous if fish eat them.
I have had mine for about....well....I actually have no idea but it's been months I'm sure of that. I kept it alive all winter, now it's June 2023 and that plant is alive but NO new growth are seen anywhere. I have another one that might be a bit older and it's growing new shoots but not too fast. I think I'll try the fish liquid fertilizer. I hope I won't kill it. It's getting to the point where I need a log book on when I fertilize my plants. I do have too many.
Your plant is looking so great...I have 4 of these two wide form and 2 narrow form....they all struggle sadly....I do not baby them or have them in the perfect light but I hope I can make at least one of them shine....it sounds like it is all me why they are not doing so great....I did recently repotted one and put hanging next to a floor lamp with grow light that shines up....so I am looking forward to spring and it is next to a door that I keep open all summer so it will get even more north and some morning sun!! So thanks for the inspiration and we will see if I can help my four thrive!! Ok thanks for making all your videos!!!
Just had one delivered this minute! Looks ok but its not a bright green like yours it has very dark leaves and one new growing. So now too learn how to care for it. Thanks for the help again. I've come to rely on your advice.
A quick note on leaves that don't unfurl, which I see in the comments on this plant (and others.) I had this problem with a Diffenbachia recently. I tried giving the leaves a spray but didn't see much result. Then I moved it to a location with more light and that seems to have solved the problem. So maybe stubborn leaves is due to lack of light?
Thank you so much, I really really enjoyed watching you and listening to your sound advice on caring for my Monkey faced Monstera. I've subscribed and given you a like too. Please stay safe and well too
Hi Mr Sheffield! I love your channel ❤ how would you recommend cleaning this baby? I normally give my leafy vining plants a shower and then wipe their leaves dry, but I noticed some water damage for my monstera adansonii. Is it better to clean this one with a damp sponge because of its velvet-er leaves?
Thanks so much for the video. I always try to comment because your channel is great and UA-cam should definitely push your videos to all plant lovers. I've been admiring the adansonii for months. When my 12 year old went out with her grandfather and little sister to shop for mothers day, she stumbled upon one lonely adansonii at Walmart and recognized it! Suprise, surprise, she really DOES pay attention to what I say. Lol, I couldn't ask for more. I've been waiting to let it acclimate a bit before repotting and putting it on a pole. The past couple of days, I've noticed it getting a few water droplets on each of the leaves. Is this because it's taking in too much water? I think the soil it is in is a coir mixture and although I haven't been watering it, they may have over watered in the store....its still fairly wet. Should I mix some different potting soil in with the coir it came with to not give it too much of a shock? Or should I just start fresh with new soil all around? I've never had one before and don't want to get it wrong, I've become quite attached. Lol
Thank you for your fabulous channel. Bought a baby Monstera Adansonii today and leaves are yellowing unfortunately so assume propagator had it in too bright light. Hopefully it will green up again❤
My plant started to get root rot after I tried growing it on a moss pole. My fault for not putting it in a pot with better drainage and air flow. I cleaned the roots and pot and treated the roots and cut off the ones that looked bad about a week ago but the leaves are still yellowing. It was doing so well before. Should I just try to propagate it at this point or is there something else to try?
I can't find any tips on how to support this monstera. I've just got one and it doesn't have support unlike my other deliciousa who has a moss pole. Is there a right way to support this plant?
When you say to plant using compost, what do you mean by compost? What is your "compost" ingredients? I think the meaning of compost means something different in various countries.
Hi I'm really struggling with my monstera. The leaves vary from some that are yellow to dry brown bits and some with black leaves on new stems. Some videos have seen have suggested underwatering and overwatering at the same time!
My monstera adamsonni is getting new leaves but they are brown already before they open up..I have taken all steps to make it healthy even fertilize d it but it didn't work. Any suugestion please.I wamted to show you image but there is no option here
I’ve had this but I’m not sure what causes it. I cut them out and the next one is normally better. Try giving the leaves a spritz with water as they are unfurling
My plant is growing and appears Happy and healthy but I've noticed some shiny spots (sap) on some of the leaves. I checked for pests but didn't see any. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I own lots of of house plant in my place and they seem to thrive well however whenever I purchase monstera adansonii home, the leave getting folded and curly and eventually die and I dun know why. Getting pretty upset Lol coz it's one of my favorite Any tips please 🥺
My Adansonii that i bought like two months ago has some weird folding leaves at the bottom. They're curled up and i don't know why. The newer ones it has grown here don't have this problem and now I'm not sure anymore if those leaves looked that way when i bought it but I'm nearly sure. I don't know why they do that and whether that is permanent though
I bought one a month ago and all the leaves and the stem turned yellow I checked the roots and they were perfect, but the new leaves would come out brown and mushy as well I really don't know what did I do wrong

@@SheffieldMadePlants Yeah, i checked. Didn't see any pests. I bought it just a week ago. I thought it may be due to root rot, but the roots seem to be fine! Struggling to identify the reason.
