I really enjoyed your video. We have been driving through this town for 50 years on the way to a family reunion in Mimbres. I've never learned so much about Silver City as I did in this video. Thank you! My Great Uncle, who passed recently, worked in the Copper mine when he was young.
Thank you so much for sharing this. We're so glad we were able to help you discover this little gem in the high desert.
Thank you for sharing this with us. God bless & keep you, we pray. Lots of memories from living in Silver City for so many years! Cherish them all. ❤️🥰
If you refer to my comment… you may feel differently…. It’s not what it entirely seems…. I live here. I decide to stay because I’m able to not need anyone around and can enjoy the mountains. …. This place is corrupted …. It’s bold… but extremely true.
You can dig for public records and confirm every single thing I said
Just bought a house in Silver City, can't wait to move in...
Awesome! Best wishes in your new home!
I wish I could move there for Deming New Mexico but I don't have the money so I'm stuck over here😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😮😊😊😊😊
We lived in Silver City for 23 yrs. We were pastors of the Glad Tidings AG Church.
It's a very cool little place surrounded by beautiful mountain canyons for sure.
And there were huge problems with that church….. among a lot of others
Just a little sarcastic there. LOL! By the way, if you ever go to Marfa, that's how they are too. Nothings open on Monday. That's a lot of silver. Those floods were awful. That girl was pretty resourceful to save her home. Old Log Cabins are so interesting. That was so nice of Ron Howard to give them that cabin. They have such a rich history.
Haha. Thanks. Marfa? We'd understand 1 day closed, but 3 and 4 days? Then only open 6 hours? But not all on the same days? Before we went we read about their economy suffering. Um... hello? But we loved it and will go back. Watching your episode now! 😊
Lived in Silver city for 2 years and it was nice! However yes nothing really to do unless your a outdoor person or want to wake up on weekends 8-2 for the boom of the business district!
I could see that. It's a little bit isolated, for sure. Thanks for your input. 😊
Hello I want to Thank you for doing this video. I was born in Silver City back in 1961. I have not been there for a few years now I hope I can go back soon I live in Kansas City MO now. again Thanks for posting this video Robert Williams
Our pleasure! We hope to go back now that covid closures have passed so we can see some of the art. Hope you get to return soon.
I just discovered your video and loved it! As a youngster growing up my family moved to Silver City in 1948 until 1957. We first lived in what was called the Phoenix Apartments. But I understand they have been sold and turned into office space. Then we moved to Kentucky St (funny, we moved to Silver from Kentucky) then after that we lived on N Alabama St for a few years. While I attended Western High School we lived on Corner of Louisiana and 12 th street. I understand the college bought that corner of property and torn it down and there’s a new building. I was hoping I would recognize some of the streets. My first job as a teenager was at the walk-in movie theatre down town. I just turned 16 yrs old. I would love to visit Silver City again but can’t. I’m 82 yrs old.
After all these years I do keep in touch with a friend that I went to school with! True friendship! Keep up the good work. God Bless,
Love reading your story so much. Thank you for taking the time to share it. I'm sorry you can't go back, but sometimes the memories are better than a place is now. We were blessed to grow up in sunny southern California near the ocean. Now It's nothing like our memories. We could play outside til way after dark. Treasure your memories and keep sharing them. 💕
Our town
It's a beautiful place. Thanks for watching! 😊
I was raised in New Mexico, it had a fabulous history.
We are falling in love with it! Safe Travels Dian!
Thanks for visiting our "quirky" little town. That's exactly what it is. Do come back like a Friday/Saturday, to find open restaurants, farmer's market and so much more.
Will do. Our home base is now Southern New Mexico.
There honestly only 4 extra places open on Friday and Saturdays 😂😂
And the farmers market will only consist of maybe a dozen small tents.
Wow what a colorful uninhabited place.. I had a little party days flashback with that trick photography.. Thanks
Haha! It was really fun figuring some of that out. And it's a fitting tribute to this colorful town! Thanks for watching!😊
So, one of the more recent families who owned and lived in the Warren House owned and ran The Hester House shop, a Silver City institution. My mother worked as a clerk in that store, and later as a caretaker for the aged mother of the family in the Warren House itself. Glad to see it in this video. Brings back memories for me. And yes. Lol, the local shops keep by God the hours and days they want to work and to hell with regular schedules. I love this town so damned much!
So glad you shared that story. And your connection thru your Mom. Do you still live in the area?
Nice tour of the town
Thank you GC!
Loved the art! There are some artists’ guilds there and the local artists are listed on their websites. One in particular, a quilt maker, does wonderful work. Thanks! G
We know we just saw a tiny bit. Next time we'll try to visit on a Saturday. Seems to be the only day everything is open for sure. So much talent there.
Thanks for being part of our conversation!
This video is really informative I am a Silver City native and enjoy new traction to this place, thank you!
Thank you! Looking forward to another visit.
Silver City, New Mexico looks like a lovely place to visit. The town has such a fascinating history. Enjoyed this tour very much. Subscribed to check out where you go next!
Thank you. Welcome to our channel. We love to dig into the stories of each place we visit.
I wonder if the rooms in the Murry Hotel have feather pillows on their beds?
New sub thanks for sharing
Thanks! Happy travels to ya!
Good details. Makes for better planning. Ty .
Thanks! Great little place to visit. 😊
Great job! Really enjoyed this recap of our mutual visit to Silver City!
Thank you! You were the reason we went there and discovered this cool place.
@@RoamingWithRosie we try to scour maps to find places that look interesting. Sometimes we score like Silver City, and other times we find ourselves lamenting, "Well, it looked good on paper."
Nice video on Silver City. Love the history and surrounding nature. Art deco isn't what it use to be.
Thank you! 😉
What a interesting history. Wow I didn't know about the floods. That was so cool that Ron Howard gave the town that cabin.
You're like us. We love to learn about the history of each place we visit. You never know what you'll find.
Looks like a cool place to visit!
Hey dude! It is ! Good to hear from you.
MY CITY FOR MANY YEARS
So much history and natural beauty. We loved it.
What crap hole huh??? Can’t wait til they actually start caring about the children in the community……
All you’ll find are over priced dollar store trinkets and all the fast food you want … unless it’s Burger King. For some reason they think the town needs 17 different Mexican restaurants
Thank you for your wonderful video. The music and the effects matched well with the vibe of the town. I'll plan a visit soon! Will have to do some research on the best way to travel there.
Cool! Thank you!
We've visited Silver City and loved it!
It's a special place for sure.
Great video guys. We will have to check the area out.
Hey thanks! Let us know if you do. Your gateguarding job seems not as hard as last time. Best of luck.
Oh what memories, I was there when the downtown was open for business 7 days a week, with real stores and lots of people on the street. They redid the old Gila theater in time for the Graduate to show. I left before the Copper Mines modernized and cut a few thousand jobs.
Wish we could have seen it then. It's still a neat little town. Thanks for watching.
I lived there from 1948 to 1957. As a teenager I worked at the Gila theatre downtown. Was a really nice town to live.
@Roaming With Rosie it wasn't a quaint little town, it was a Mining town, lots of bars, restaurants, people doing shift work 365 days a year. The Buffalo Bar opened at 7 AM, which was Graveyards shifts 5 PM. It was a little rough around the edges but it was fun.
Well you made the best of bad situation. Like walking through goats town.
Thanks. Gotta do that in life whenever you can.
some people want an escape…ghost town is fine when you live in a huge city.
This must have been made some time ago, and not in the busy tourist season, when shops are open more days of the week. Still, Mondays and Tuesdays are slower day.....but Wednesday through Sunday are good!
It was during covid. And shops were only open some days. But we fell hard for New Mexico. 😍
totally love seeing the neighborhoods, and architecture, music is not driving me crazy, don’t need to many repeat effects.. overall … excellent… lots of info.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Glad you liked the place, but you missed a real good thing. As you enter the Murry make an immediate Left, you will pass through the doors into what was "The Cattleman" It was the ranchers bar. Land and cattle deals worth millions were cobbled up there.
Now, if you turn around there is, or was a mural of the whole Gila country, in which all the ranches are mapped and their brand shown. I hope it's still there, we've begged them to keep it.
Cool! Everything was pretty shut down because of covid, so we didn't go beyond the lobby. Next time we'll look for that. Thanks!
Love this. It looks a little ghostly there. How do look at retirement there when you aren’t safe on the roads anymore?(should you have the privilege of a long life?)
I’ve read it’s one of the best places to retire. Walkable living areas etc
We were there during covid. That may have made it look more deserted. Shops weren't keeping regular hours. Some have commented they live there and love it.
Wow what a great job giving a lovely overview of Silver city New Mexico… now I can use your video to show my friends and family about one of my favorite places I will definitely follow your other videos if there is detailed is this it’s a no-brainer, congratulations!
Thanks! Our current series is of the Las Cruces & Alamogordo area. Hope you enjoy it too!
it was not a lovely overview.!
Why do you think Silver City (while being extremely isolated) is so vibrant, clean, and prosperous looking when so many other areas in New Mexico suffer from poverty and lack of jobs?
Silver City has a lot to offer. Artistry, mountains....
FORD WAS KILLED IN CREEDE COLORADO .
You mean Robert Ford? I didn't know that thanks for sharing and thanks for watching!
That's a whole movie right there. Creede was wicked.

I live there I think he exaggerated a little bit I don’t have a problem going out at night at all walking anywhere and I’m 60 years old
I don’t see your spelling improving either.
I went there once! I thought it looked scruffy. I didn't see any point.
That's the way we like it here.
