Hi there, wondering if you have any info or advice on a place to rent. I’d like to be there seasonally. I’m a single older woman who doesn’t need fancy, just clean. Looking for a one or two bdrm apartment or such, fairly close to the beach and markets/town. Foot transportation only. Any ideas? I’d be there 6 months a year, looking to pay 7000 pesos or less. Possible?

Thats what happened in El Salvador, tourists came and people sold them food at double the price as they did to locals, vendors saw it worked , so they kept prices now for everyone else. Thats only one example. Same as home values.
@@denisenoles3159 try to reasearch how much it costs for a local and negotiate around that. Do not try to overpay for the area. That way landlords will know even if you are a foreigner you are not willing to pay more for what is fair for the area.

Well, the older, retired people are bringing in money to the community, not getting into their politics, not taking their resources, not trying to water down their culture, nor taking jobs or business opportunities from the locals, etc.
When you speak the language of your guest country you're showing appreciation and respect. This lady fits in really well because she speaks Spanish and so is able to blend in with the locals.
This is so wonderful to see that older people can retire very comfortably on their pension and social security. I would buy a small house so I wouldn't have to pay rent every month. This couple has found their niche and seems to be very happy in Mexico. Good luck to them.
Foreigners can't own in Mexico but they can "own" with a legal trust. My parents had a horrendous experience in Mexico getting screwed by the officials (notarios) who were supposed to set up the "trust". Plus everything was a rip off like when something needed fixing, etc. Rental is THE way to do it for the best experience.
Too bad you can't do it in your own country. Why don't Americans vote better so you have representatives that fight for improvement? Not all the MAGA trash.
It’s very sad, I used to work going home to home and it’s so sad the way most retired normal people live in California. Some didn’t even have enough for food! A couple getting $2000 a month in social security, they lived in poverty, almost all of them. It was so sad. I’d rather live in Mexico or Philippines than struggle for $2000.
You can do the same thing anywhere just grow your own food. As humans we are inherently lazy and sometimes we have to force ourselves to do things by moving too far away places where the things we used to go for are not available anymore. Sometimes we have to outsmart ourselves. ❤
@@FacesintheStone Not really. Lot of the US HOA rules blocks people from growing their own food. I saw a old article online of a family being arrested for growing food in their front yard in Florida.
I love this lady....very positive and no ego at all!!! This is the reason she looks healthy and smart....she is advising not go there to presum... just get there and relax and live a healthy and simple life as we all are here for!!!

I’m an American and have been to Huatulco. It is absolutely beautiful and the people are so nice and respectful of everyone. We really enjoyed our stay. I have been to many places in Mexico (absolutely love it). Huatulco…..l could definitely live there! If you haven’t been, please go. Enjoy your stay and be respectful.
I’m Nicaraguan & Irish. How fortunate I was to be able stay with my grandparents for summer breaks and learn Spanish. I agree with the Latin lifestyle. No one should ever be judged. The food? Don’t get me started!
I've been there twice. It's an incredible place. There are beautiful waterfalls with Caribbean blue water not far from there. You can get a 2 hour spa with 1 hour massage for $30.

I love huatulco! It's one of the best places I've visited. It's a hidden gem. Not a lot of tourists. Great, delicious food and the waterfalls are amazing!
@@demandante55 That is false. You can buy land or a home in Mexico it just gets a little trickier to purchase either near the coast or border. In a nutshell, in those areas you need to put it in a bank trust called a Fideicomiso de Zona Restringida or Real Estate Trust of a Restrcted Zone. Google it...
I am happy for you because you managed to get residency years ago. As Fred noted, now it is not possible to get a resident visa on a small fixed income (mine is USD$1500) because Mexico recently raised the monthly income requirement to over USD$2500. The best thing Fred did was to marry Cindy! ¡Felicitaciones!
Yes, I don't understand why the amount has increased so much. I picked the right time for residency (permanent residency Feb 2022). I live comfortably on my $1600 Social Security in Hermosillo.

I turned 60 this past November and when I think about retirement I think of how unattainable it seems. I don't wan tot work until I am dead, so I have been looking at other alternatives and this would definitely be one for me.

As always, I really enjoy your videos and have learned alot. Cindy and Fred look like a fun and cool couple and I enjoy their vlogs as well. I flew into Huatulco last November and stayed in Zipolite for about a month. I also enjoyed Mazunte and Pachutla ( especially the weekly market ). I now know that I will return to Mexcico soon. Campeche is also definately on my radar, but there is something about Huatulco and the surrounding areas that just felt right for me. This is will hopefully be my future retirement destination. This is what I mean when I speak of "beautiful" Mexico... There's MANY MORE reasons to stay... live... love... than to "flee"... There are numerous towns like this through the country... 👍🏽
We can’t take the heat. We live in the mountains of Matagalpa, Nicaragua…great little city. Our budget, if you don’t include what we spend on our 3 dogs is easily under $1000/month. Our rental house is $200/month. Fresh fruits n veggies everywhere. $20 cell phone $50 internet 235 mgb /20 mgb- fast ! Electric$15-$20/month Gas- $5. stove Safe, inexpensive, wonderful people.

The temps stay roughly the same all year round…..varies but not that much. Happily we will be through the two hotter months in 5-6 weeks. If you have any questions please let me know.

Did you ever consider buying in Nicaragua? I have heard that it is much cheaper, but don't know how it works with property rights and how crime is in that country.

I retired in 2015 and have been going to Guatemala City every year minus the COVID season and I m paying less that $200 for my room per month I don’t cook because I can eat 3 meals per day for less than $10 ….per day, so why should I cook? I sold my Toyota truck, because it’s cheaper and safer to ride with Uber!
Why do you think I am watching this video? Life in the USA is not good. The earning of USD is great, but not much else. Retirement in the USA is getting further out of reach for most Americans. Also, the USA has no culture.

My monthly expenses in USD are as follows... $375 - rent, including electricity, water, gas, internet. $12 - cell phone $87 - health care (IMSS) $30 - all expenses to operate a moto scooter (transportation) $330 - food $ 6 - drinking water $100 - entertainment $60 - miscellaneous $1,000 TOTAL

The very first video I saw about Mexico was when I was researching tiny homes and Cindy and Fred had a video about a tiny home in Mexico! It was their prior studio apartment. This started me on a binge of watching Mexico videos and then in 2021 I got my temp residency and renewed it for 3 years in 2022. Still living in the USA but Olán to sell my house early next year and move to Mexico city( and may winter run Huatulco or Puerto Vallarta!) All thanks to “retire in Mexico” videos by Cindy!! ❤❤❤
Hola Lizz! I knew I would eventually move to Mexico after visiting hundreds of times since the 80's when I would come down to remote beach camp, surf and fish. During those years I fell in love with the warm welcoming people, family based culture and of course the food. I watched all of Cindy and Fred's videos when I finally started planning my move to Mexico and moved here in 2020. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself! BTW- They really did a great job on their old place and their new place. Buena suerte desde algun lugar de Mexico!
I definitely want to live here, I lived in Tulum and it was beautiful but too expensive. Huatulco looks beautiful and I’d like to work and live free in Mexico most definitely
The people of Oaxaca are super friendly and welcoming to strangers, pretty much everyone I met backpacking along the coast from Puerto Escondido down through Hualtulco was just so friendly. I was down a couple months ago after the hurricane Agatha had gone through and I was amazed to see how much everyone had pulled together to get things put back together again.
I have bronquitis and I am here in Huatulco for that and other old man issues. It is hot but my body loves it even though a fresh breeze is something to cherish here!!

Thank you for your informative videos on Mexico. I have been to Huatulco and Oaxaca many times. I am from the USA and have travelled to many many places in Mexico and I have nothing but praise for the Mexican people I have met. I have always been trested like family when I visit there. My thoughts are that many visitors bring their rudeness with them and that makes us all look bad. We can thank the news media for all of the negativity regarding Mexico

I love how she says “We Are” with so much pride, that’s what Mexico does to immigrants this why new immigrants and our ancestors regardless of which country they were able to adapt to the country and felt a sense of belonging, people from different backgrounds, cultures, race, are proud to call themselves Mexicans, because they are weather they were born there or they just been there for a few days 😊
A good point but I think she's Mexican-American which is why it was easier for her to do all the stuff she did and she's bilingual for sure Spanish English.

What a wonderful couple. They really know how to live well for less. 👍 So many memories are coming back from when we lived in Mexico. The funniest memory was when you were walking down the street and had to duck down as you walked under the trees and plants.😅😊
Another good benefit of living by the ocean is the body works better at sea level then in mountains specially when a person is Older - the higher you go your blood pressure gos up too - and the fresh food and the weather and less stressed all of that makes a big difference, iv been thinking about moving to Mexico but my biggest problem i have is choosing where in Mexico , i have some friends that moved to la paz 2 years ago and they love it, but i understand there's better places as you go more south.
@@FreyaRae1510 Exactly what I was thinking. After their lease is up and the owner sees the renovations, she can jack up the price or decide to move back in herself.
Always remember that only the bad news sales, I being in Mexico many times , even on not good at all zones and nothing happens, everyone was super nice to us. I can't wait to move down there. 7 more years and I see you there.
Wow, that sounds so wonderful. Just started to learn Spanish and am looking for an area to retire on SS. The residency qualifications may be a problem but I saw a video that said you can drastically reduce the financial requirement by getting temporary residency first and then go for permanent residency after 4 years much easier. I'll look into more once I'm closer to actually taking the plunge. I want to know decent Spanish and save for the next year or two.
You are so smart to have some Spanish and a willingness to learn more. I am learning on top of learning so don’t stop. Don’t fall for those who say “oh, you can get by without knowing Spanish.” The level you are treated is based largely on your level of Spanish. And you’re less likely to get ripped off which happens everywhere unfortunately. Buena suerte.

I lived in Playa Zipolite for 3 yrs. It was 2020 when I was unable to return to Guatemala as I had no legal residency. I was angry at first but soon saw the blessings of my situation. I returned to the States this past Jan and only expected to be here a few months. Well one visit to friends on another State has turned into another and I won´t be returning to Costa Oaxaca until Sept. I am seriously looking at moving to Hualtuco. I loved it everytime I had reason to go. I am challenged with mobility and will need a rolling walker sooner than later and this city will be very easy to navigate. I love the ability to shop daily if needed for fresh veggies and fruits so a local neighborhood is exactly where I want to settle
I really enjoyed this video and the lady was such a pleasure to watch and listen too. She really explained things in such a way as to set everyone’s mind at ease and make you feel comfortable. Both she and Fred (I think his name was -?) made you feel comfortable. I know that if I moved there that I would want to be friends with them. I have been wanting to relocate since before I started college. That was more than 30 years ago. It was amazing to see how inexpensive the rent is. Boy, I would love one of those houses. I’m glad that you two are enjoying your lives together.
I retired 7-8 yrs ago up in USA, im just a simple exfarmer exraodie stoner dude .... after retiring the first thing was to sell my properties, cars, furniture and absolutely everything and said goodbye to the USA, been down here in Mexico ever since , and i swear on my momma's ashes y'all will never see me set a foot in the usa anymore , i even have all my funeral expences paid and a lot in a local Southern México Cementary !! And i strongly recommend yall retirees to head down here , yall have no idea what a joy and dream it is to live down here among all these wonderful and beautiful places and people !! Sounds quite nice and overall reasonably priced. I understand that they only pay $250 because they rented out a "shack" many years ago and refurbished it. But the rental prices for modest quarters seem doable. What I was wondering about is medical care - both quality and expense? Most of us who are seniors have ongoing medical conditions and need good care. Beautiful place!
If you check out cheap RV living here on UA-cam, Bob Wells who has been a full time nomad for around 25 years, lives in the US but crosses the border for medical/ dental care as it is quite economical. Look him up you will enjoy his knowledgeable videos 😊

What i dont like is as appearing there too (Invasive want of your finances. Bank statements is personal) Ugly unsafe too much info digging as in the United states!

I would love to move there or oaxaca ! But it seems getting permanent residency is harder in most countries than I 1st thought, iv looked into greece, cyprus, Portugal etc for gaining permanent residency, but it's not as easy as I thought, however Mexico would be a dream come true, sell our home and move as we are both now retired.

I love the Mexican culture, I plan to expat in 5 years +/-. I currently live in a small town in Colorado, and the influx of new residents has affected our community negatively. I hope that as an American we will continue to be welcomed there.

Just be careful, you don't call yourself an ex Pat. The Mexicans want you to call yourself an immigrant. For some reason, some people get really uptight about it. It's just a word to me. I don't think it really matters, but some people have an issue with it. And I don't understand that!

I have been to Huatulco on my for vacation. Very beautiful. Beaches ⛱️ . I have been to the town of Crucita. Just around the corner from the hotel. Nice clean town . Nice beach to. Puerto Escondido is amazing. The beach is white. Big waves though.

As if all the Mexicans coming to the US are concerned that they're lowering wages for the locals
How can this issue be resolved? Can they charge the locals less rent and ignore the offer of more money from the foreigners?

This is so wonderful to see that older people can retire very comfortably on their pension and social security. I would buy a small house so I wouldn't have to pay rent every month. This couple has found their niche and seems to be very happy in Mexico. Good luck to them.
Foreigners can't own in Mexico but they can "own" with a legal trust. My parents had a horrendous experience in Mexico getting screwed by the officials (notarios) who were supposed to set up the "trust". Plus everything was a rip off like when something needed fixing, etc. Rental is THE way to do it for the best experience.

It’s very sad, I used to work going home to home and it’s so sad the way most retired normal people live in California. Some didn’t even have enough for food! A couple getting $2000 a month in social security, they lived in poverty, almost all of them. It was so sad. I’d rather live in Mexico or Philippines than struggle for $2000.

I’m an American and have been to Huatulco. It is absolutely beautiful and the people are so nice and respectful of everyone. We really enjoyed our stay. I have been to many places in Mexico (absolutely love it). Huatulco…..l could definitely live there! If you haven’t been, please go. Enjoy your stay and be respectful.

I've been there twice. It's an incredible place. There are beautiful waterfalls with Caribbean blue water not far from there. You can get a 2 hour spa with 1 hour massage for $30.

@@demandante55 That is false. You can buy land or a home in Mexico it just gets a little trickier to purchase either near the coast or border. In a nutshell, in those areas you need to put it in a bank trust called a Fideicomiso de Zona Restringida or Real Estate Trust of a Restrcted Zone. Google it...
I am happy for you because you managed to get residency years ago. As Fred noted, now it is not possible to get a resident visa on a small fixed income (mine is USD$1500) because Mexico recently raised the monthly income requirement to over USD$2500. The best thing Fred did was to marry Cindy! ¡Felicitaciones!
Yes, I don't understand why the amount has increased so much. I picked the right time for residency (permanent residency Feb 2022). I live comfortably on my $1600 Social Security in Hermosillo.

As always, I really enjoy your videos and have learned alot. Cindy and Fred look like a fun and cool couple and I enjoy their vlogs as well. I flew into Huatulco last November and stayed in Zipolite for about a month. I also enjoyed Mazunte and Pachutla ( especially the weekly market ). I now know that I will return to Mexcico soon. Campeche is also definately on my radar, but there is something about Huatulco and the surrounding areas that just felt right for me. This is will hopefully be my future retirement destination. I get the feeling there is not really a season here. There are very few expats here ( I understand approx 400 ). The temps stay roughly the same all year round…..varies but not that much. Happily we will be through the two hotter months in 5-6 weeks. If you have any questions please let me know.

I retired in 2015 and have been going to Guatemala City every year minus the COVID season and I m paying less that $200 for my room per month I don’t cook because I can eat 3 meals per day for less than $10 ….per day, so why should I cook? I sold my Toyota truck, because it’s cheaper and safer to ride with Uber!

The very first video I saw about Mexico was when I was researching tiny homes and Cindy and Fred had a video about a tiny home in Mexico! It was their prior studio apartment. This started me on a binge of watching Mexico videos and then in 2021 I got my temp residency and renewed it for 3 years in 2022. Still living in the USA but Olán to sell my house early next year and move to Mexico city( and may winter run Huatulco or Puerto Vallarta!) All thanks to “retire in Mexico” videos by Cindy!! ❤❤❤
Hola Lizz! I knew I would eventually move to Mexico after visiting hundreds of times since the 80's when I would come down to remote beach camp, surf and fish. During those years I fell in love with the warm welcoming people, family based culture and of course the food. I watched all of Cindy and Fred's videos when I finally started planning my move to Mexico and moved here in 2020. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself! The people of Oaxaca are super friendly and welcoming to strangers, pretty much everyone I met backpacking along the coast from Puerto Escondido down through Hualtulco was just so friendly. I was down a couple months ago after the hurricane Agatha had gone through and I was amazed to see how much everyone had pulled together to get things put back together again.
I am envious! Having respiratory issues limits me on everything...this video is hopeful. Especially the joint inflammation aspect. Bless you two!

I love how she says “We Are” with so much pride, that’s what Mexico does to immigrants this why new immigrants and our ancestors regardless of which country they were able to adapt to the country and felt a sense of belonging, people from different backgrounds, cultures, race, are proud to call themselves Mexicans, because they are weather they were born there or they just been there for a few days 😊

Another good benefit of living by the ocean is the body works better at sea level then in mountains specially when a person is Older - the higher you go your blood pressure gos up too - and the fresh food and the weather and less stressed all of that makes a big difference, iv been thinking about moving to Mexico but my biggest problem i have is choosing where in Mexico , i have some friends that moved to la paz 2 years ago and they love it, but i understand there's better places as you go more south.

Wow, that sounds so wonderful. Just started to learn Spanish and am looking for an area to retire on SS. The residency qualifications may be a problem but I saw a video that said you can drastically reduce the financial requirement by getting temporary residency first and then go for permanent residency after 4 years much easier. I'll look into more once I'm closer to actually taking the plunge. I want to know decent Spanish and save for the next year or two.
You are so smart to have some Spanish and a willingness to learn more. I am learning on top of learning so don’t stop. Don’t fall for those who say “oh, you can get by without knowing Spanish.” The level you are treated is based largely on your level of Spanish. And you’re less likely to get ripped off which happens everywhere unfortunately. Buena suerte.

I lived in Playa Zipolite for 3 yrs. It was 2020 when I was unable to return to Guatemala as I had no legal residency. I was angry at first but soon saw the blessings of my situation. I returned to the States this past Jan and only expected to be here a few months. Well one visit to friends on another State has turned into another and I won´t be returning to Costa Oaxaca until Sept. I am seriously looking at moving to Hualtuco. I loved it everytime I had reason to go. I am challenged with mobility and will need a rolling walker sooner than later and this city will be very easy to navigate. I love the ability to shop daily if needed for fresh veggies and fruits so a local neighborhood is exactly where I want to settle
I really enjoyed this video and the lady was such a pleasure to watch and listen too. She really explained things in such a way as to set everyone’s mind at ease and make you feel comfortable. Both she and Fred (I think his name was -?) made you feel comfortable. I know that if I moved there that I would want to be friends with them. I have been wanting to relocate since before I started college. That was more than 30 years ago. It was amazing to see how inexpensive the rent is. Boy, I would love one of those houses. I’m glad that you two are enjoying your lives together.

I retired 7-8 yrs ago up in USA, im just a simple exfarmer exraodie stoner dude .... after retiring the first thing was to sell my properties, cars, furniture and absolutely everything and said goodbye to the USA, been down here in Mexico ever since , and i swear on my momma's ashes y'all will never see me set a foot in the usa anymore , i even have all my funeral expences paid and a lot in a local Southern México Cementary !! Americans flooding Mexico is a good reason why I will not move there.
Sounds quite nice and overall reasonably priced. I understand that they only pay $250 because they rented out a "shack" many years ago and refurbished it. But the rental prices for modest quarters seem doable. What I was wondering about is medical care - both quality and expense? Most of us who are seniors have ongoing medical conditions and need good care. Beautiful place!
If you check out cheap RV living here on UA-cam, Bob Wells who has been a full time nomad for around 25 years, lives in the US but crosses the border for medical/ dental care as it is quite economical. Look him up you will enjoy his knowledgeable videos 😊

I would love to move there or oaxaca ! But it seems getting permanent residency is harder in most countries than I 1st thought, iv looked into greece, cyprus, Portugal etc for gaining permanent residency, but it's not as easy as I thought, however Mexico would be a dream come true, sell our home and move as we are both now retired.

I have been to Huatulco and loved spending a day at Playa Entrega where I had a guy wash our car for us while the teens swam at the beach. I'll definitely look you up when we go there, but we are more often in Puerto Vallarta. I also liked your video at Playa Entrega - nice memories!!

I love the Mexican culture, I plan to expat in 5 years +/-. I currently live in a small town in Colorado, and the influx of new residents has affected our community negatively. I hope that as an American we will continue to be welcomed there.

I have been to Huatulco on my for vacation. Very beautiful. Beaches ⛱️ . I have been to the town of Crucita. Just around the corner from the hotel. Nice clean town . Nice beach to. Puerto Escondido is amazing. The beach is white. Big waves though.
