You just barely scratched the surface. I was a fortunate child growing up in New Mexico, where every summer I got to travel the back roads and trails of that magical state with my father. It's one of America's best kept secrets. Nice vid!
I've visited NM and love it but the population there is aging and not many young people around. Without major companies and lack of youth means the future of NM is grim...unfortunately.
I was born in Carlsbad, NM and lived there until I turned 13. My family then packed up and we moved to Albuquerque, NM. I remained here until I got married. Then we moved to Gallup, NM where our 3 children were raised for the majority of their kid lives into my oldest graduating from the high school there. I now am back in Albuquerque and never grow tired of its unique beauty and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. I enjoyed watching your video. 😊
When I was moving back to California from Texas last year, I enjoyed my drive in New Mexico, I also liked the architecture of some of the buildings there.
I am from Tennessee but both my parents are from New Mexico. I remember in the mid 2000s as a little kid how we would visit my grandparents there. The nostalgia comes flowing back when I think about it. The memory that gives me the most nostalgia was my bedroom in that house. The yellow walls. The old photos of when my dad was a kid. The bedsheets and pillows that were draped with wild west and Native America styled patterns and the blanket on the floor where my grandparent's dog Duke used to sleep. Man this brings a tear to my eye.
When my wife and I arrived in Albuquerque for graduate school we thought the town looked like a slum, with all the low-slung adobe houses. When we left three years later, we were crying because we were leaving a place we had come to love and cherish. New Mexico is, by far, my favorite state. The northern segment is unparalleled for beauty.
I hail from Texas. But New Mexico is in my heart. Since I was a child of three I was fishing the river by our cabin. I have been through most of the state and recognize many places that you shot. My great-grandfather was a doctor Cimarron in the early 1900’s. Then later in Nara Visa where he had a drug store with a fountain and got more money than livestock for his services. I met him once but I cannot remember it. My roots run deep and my experiences roll through my mind. Loved the vintage signs. Thanks for the adventure.
We also were at Madrid. A former ghost town that became inhabited by hippies. Now it's an artist community, great cafe, friendly people, absolutely a treasure.
Adam used to be my morning routine for years. Back when he was doing his daily vlog he would upload at 8:00 a.m. (my time) every single day. You could count on it. I couldn't wait to get my coffee and sit down with Adam. The man has some serious work ethic. 🧡🧡
UK - I have visited NM several times for long periods , I was based more south in Alamogordo. I loved the state, I visited one of those old town run down stores, there was a large tray of Indian arrow heads " Indian War Surplus " ( still makes me smile ) . thanks for the memories.
@@maryfeitz4295 I’d love to live out that way when I retire. I love that whole area and especially the Raton Pass and Trinidad area. I fell in love with the area when I was stationed in Albuquerque. Going back and forth to Colorado Springs was always a joy to me.

growing up in New Mexico, my dad was very into hunting out the lost ghost towns all over the state, the area around Magdelena, Chimayo, Carizozo, Tucumcari, Jemez, all real places to be discovered, take your time in New Mexico, there's a lot to see, Algodones, Pena Blanca, Vaughn
Same! My dad was quite a bit older when I was born, so he'd lived here in the 60s before he met my mom, and we moved here in '85, when I was seven. Grew up exploring ghost towns with my dad, fishing, and YMCA summer camp in the Jemez (VERY rustic!) I love NM, and I like to visit elsewhere, this isy home💕
Great video. My wife and I spent a number of years in New Mexico. At the time, I admit that I didn't appreciate it. But I do now. We just got back from NM a few months ago as we did a little week-long vacation back to the Land of Enchantment. New Mexico is a very unique place. It's impossible to really describe it. You just have to experience it.
I'm sure since your last visit it has changed a lot..I live in the East Mountains, & if I have to go into the City I do what I have to do & get out of dodge..It's gotten so dangerous, there's been a couple of mall shootings so much hate . One crazy lady trying to run over a couple, then she jumped out of her car, telling them to go back to their Country 'Mexico" .... '''That'' is mostly what's it'a about..people see ''skin'' color & it sets them off..This is what it is mostly about with these rude nasty people. To Them GROW UP!! children live what they learn..Is this what your teaching them?
While you’re in New Mexico, I recommend visiting Cloudcroft in the Lincoln National Forest, elevation 8,668 feet. The town centre hasn’t changed much since the 1880s.
Thank you Adam for this video. It's a very special one for me as I drove most of the roads you were on in this video. I lived in New Mexico 40 years ago and even though I found it exciting to revisit my favorite state, and you presented the content with respect and did not trash the hamlets and rundown towns you featured. Time has not been kind to my rural New Mexico but it's still beautiful. I still love it.
Wow, gorgeous land of enchantment.!!! Clayton, my husband n I were born there. U almost showed our nephews, Art's barber shop, next to Luna theatre. Where u stopped and saw that rolled wire, that's ours, there was a store n gas station, called Penington, wow. Gladstone, my address was Gladstone for 18 years. My parents for 72 years. Springer, my dad n sibs played at cactus bar many times. We still go out 6-7 x's a year, check on things. Our old stumping grounds. Wagon Mound, our nephew was mayor there. We have property in various areas.
I clicked on your video because I recognized the street in the town the movie Young Guns was filmed. My girlfriend, at the time, me & family members went to see that movie when it came out at the theatre. Wow, long time ago! I've driven through New Mexico as I'm a professional truck driver & it's a beautiful relaxing drive! Thanks for the video!
My favourite episode so far. Scenery was beautiful, town looked like it was right out of an old western movie. That train at the end was perfection. Well done!
Thanks from this New Mexican. VERY interesting spots. I work for a professional land surveyor/engineer and I’ve seen this before. So damn interesting. The Chappell Spade Ranch survey in San Miguel county was both an sob and the damned coolest thing I’ve ever experienced. It was wilderness before the crew got there (never surveyed). Nothing like wild cattle chasing you, rattlesnakes everywhere and flies flying up your nose because it was cooler there. And I realized why western shirts were long sleeved. Protect you from the scorching sun in those higher elevations. New Mexican is truly the Land of Enchantment. My part of the state (eastern plains) is a little flat. But the landscape is beautiful. And those sunsets! And of course...Hatch Green Chile. Hmmm...Hatch. The Chile Capitol of The World
I liked the shot @ 13:00 with the chair in the foreground and the mountain in the background. When train came into view it gave the viewer a concept of the scale of the land.
Adam, thank you for taking me along with you on your journey across the states! Really have enjoyed your backroads trip! Looking forward to your next one.
I love the way you treat each place with respect and don't say negative things. For whatever reason, there are people who have to live in all of these places. The nostalgia, the beautiful old buildings, the landscape are all very interesting. I'm old enough to remember some of that nostalgia, even though I've always lived in the north. Good job. I enjoy your videos.
I am from Socorro, New Mexico. Actually I lived in Luis Lopez which is right outside. Luis Lopez doesn’t even have a post office or a store, it’s just an amazing little village.

Man! I’m a sucker for pictures of the old. It’s a window into what was, good bad? No difference. Makes you wonder, don’t it? Where are those who forged a presence there, and one day turned around and left it behind for the rest of us to see. Where are they now? There was happiness and laughter there, I’m sure, but also sorrow, ambition, dreams and expectation. I’ve been through such places before and they take the air our of you lungs, leaving you to chew the last bit of oxygen in your mouth. Photos of what was. Thanks. Keep them coming.
Loving your videos. I like that you pulse for a minute so we can actually see what you are showing us. Some videos out there are so dynamic you can't see anything. Thank you for slowing down and letting us enjoy it with you.
My Papa’s family is from White Oaks and Carizozo, the Leslies and the Lacies, I remember all of our family reunions were held at a little school house where they old timers all attended. I love how my family documented everything that happened to them when they first settled there, my great grandpa and his brothers ran cattle for a time with Billy the Kid. My families stories are now in the Library of Congress, and I have the honor of listening to my 94 year old Papa’s family stories told by him.
Very nice video. After capturing Albuquerque and Taos the Confederate Army was defeated near Las Vegas, NM by Union Forces from Colorado. The most North Western battle of the Second American Revolution aka The American Civil War. Las Vegas NM was also the reunion site of the Rough Riders including Teddy Roosevelt post Spanish American War. One of my ancestor uncles from Southern Arizona was one of them.
You skirted around the South side of the Sangde de Christos mountains. The high road between Taos and Santa Fe is a stunning trip of beauty and small villages. Vaya con Dios!
I'd like to travel NM this summer in my RV pulling an enclosed trailer with one motorcycle and one ATV. But I've heard NM can be a dangerous place to travel. Did you ever feel unsafe or threatened on your trip?
You came through my home town! 😁 Springer NM, tons of historical stuff in our area, especially 20 miles west in Cimarron! Have enjoyed the series sad to see it coming to an end! Safe travels!
New Mexico is a wonderful state. It is beautiful everywhere. The people have amazing diversity and are extremely friendly. They are genuine and not faking it for tourists. New Mexico True is s way of life. I have lived in and visited many states and this is my absolute favorite. The food is great and addictive. Red or green? Christmas for me! Those out of the way places are very interesting and definitely should be on your list to visit.
Kudos for not including Santa Fe and ABQ. You went right through them (I’m assuming), but focused on the quiet, lesser known areas. Those cities usually get all the press. Thanks!
New Mexico is truly the land of enchantment! first time there i felt this beautiful aura come over me. if i was moving it would be to New Mexico, near Santa Fe in between there and Taos🥰
The animals you saw grazing on the horizon near Wagon Mound were pronghorn (aka antelope). We love spotting them when we’re driving in Colorado and New Mexico.
Must be great being a locomotive engineer. Peace and quiet, no phone calls, no emails, no crises, as you haul your load through some of the most stunning scenery on Earth.
This is my first viewing and it really got my attention, I was raised in Las Vegas, NM. Now live in Portland OR and yearn for the wide open spaces of New Mexico. You're very correct. You could have spent two or three weeks in Vegas and still not have seen all the history. Thanks for this brief trip back in time.
I love Las Vegas! Great historical town! I love to go there and live the history, but since I live in Roswell I don't get there very often. I do spend a week or more when I go.
I was watching on my TV but had to jump onto my phone to leave a comment. I love the scene with the train passing by and the old rusted folding chair. Very classic New Mexico vibe. Super artistic. Well done.
@Patrick Gragg You don't want to hear anything yet you post you're BS on a public UA-cam Forum lol where ANYONE can chime in soo like i said man obviously Bosque Farms didn't know you even existed anyways because it's still thriving...well. Stay gone.
Interesting comments. No shortage of negativity. Lame people and attitudes. I was made and grew up partly in southern New Mexico. The scenery is beautiful there. I frequently visit my family in ABQ & Cruces. Love the food, especially "Christmas" chicken enchiladas, rice and refried beans. Yum yum!!
Good eye and nice job capturing the landscape and architectural gems between Clayton and Grants in the state I've lived in most of my life. All in one very short winter's day, no less--you were busy!
Really enjoyed watching this 9 days roadtrip while in lock down over here in the Netherlands. Thanks for taking us along with you for 7 years already and especially for that eye candy in this vlog 12:51 ... really beautiful shot!
Hello I live in Minnesota now I've been here for 35 years was raised in Albuquerque New Mexico not been back in a long time thanks for the pics I enjoyed them all reminds me of home thanks again someone who cares in the Great Lakes area home of the meanest people on the planet
I’m from NYC and I love NM with all my heart. Each time I’ve been there, I liked it even more. It’s the perfect place to unwind and meet some lovely people
@Derrick Bridges Think its a lot cheaper out here, where I live there's a lot of horse barns and I think it's more affordable for them to board out here . Soon they start wearing all the cowboy stuff its funny to see
I was waiting to hear, "there goes the monorail" while the train cut through the horizon, but quickly remembered no theme parks in this series. I'm loving it all! Safe travels.
I was so glad I explored New Mexico last year, discovering beautiful landscapes(Bisti Badlands) and abandoned places. I drove the circle of enchantment in Carson National Forest....
Lots of empty space up north. Further south it's more condensed, hilly and even mountainous to the west. Silver City is glorious! As is Cloudcroft. We live in Truth or Consequences. South central New Mexico. Deming is a quaint little town of much color and charm. Las Cruses is fast becoming a virtual suburb of El Paso, Texas.
If you do take such a road trip make sure you have a good car or van that is very new or have it worked on by a mechanic you can trust. You don't want to have it break down in the middle of nowhere.
So glad you went to Las Vegas! I saw the Rawlins building in the video and was pleased it has been restored. They try to restore historical buildings whenever possible. It was about to fall down when I was there 3 years ago. They were trying to raise money for it, so happy they were successful! Thanks so much for your video!

There was happiness and laughter there, I’m sure, but also sorrow, ambition, dreams and expectation. I’ve been through such places before and they take the air our of you lungs, leaving you to chew the last bit of oxygen in your mouth. Photos of what was. Thanks. Keep them coming.
I live in Roswell NM this is a beautiful state, especially the scenic routes.
it is beautiful but smells like 🐄💩
hey i live right by u i live in artesia nm
@@dorothynajar237 Artesia smells like 💩 too😂
I'm from Anthony New Mexico right next to El Paso Tx...it smells like 🐄💩 there too😂
NMMI, you can never escape...
Love that “Welcome to New Mexico “ sign!
Very interesting landscape with the train going past & great tree over the road.
The chair and the train best shot so far. Thanks for sharing.
Honesty I will never have a chance to leave my home state but i do appreciate you doing the traveling for me.. Thumbs up
When you visit New Mexico stop by Cerritos in Roswell! They have amazing authentic New Mexican food!
I've been there already.👍
This is one of the few locations out west where the sun and land look super beautiful.
@@timmarks5314 I never have. Been traveling there for years.
Fantastic to see this side of America. Thanks Adam!
Kudos for not including Santa Fe and ABQ. You went right through them (I’m assuming), but focused on the quiet, lesser known areas. Those cities usually get all the press. Thanks!
Best places to live
Those cuties grazing out there are antelope. Oh fair New Mexico, my home sweet home.
Incidentally, they don't taste very good
New Mexico is truly the land of enchantment! first time there i felt this beautiful aura come over me. if i was moving it would be to New Mexico, near Santa Fe in between there and Taos🥰
I turn 65 tomorrow and I was born/early years raised in north eastern New Mexico. Thanks for bringing it all back - Wow
Great train shots! Captured the essence of rural NM.
The animals you saw grazing on the horizon near Wagon Mound were pronghorn (aka antelope). We love spotting them when we’re driving in Colorado and New Mexico.
Very cool !
Those are the second fastest animals on 4 legs in the world and the fastest in the Americas. They are rivaled only by Cheetahs and Gazelles of Africa.
@@TheDailyWoo hey I'm downunder..just asking how do u afford to travel about..I want to do that in the future..is it possible..thnx
I went to Robertson high school
Missed him driving to Hermits Peak!
Cool video. Kept waiting for children of the corn to jump out. Glad you’re safe.
December 4, 2020...and the lockdown has brought me here... Beautiful America! Hello from the Philippines!
Getting those closing shots of the train? Epic.
Been loving this series. Continued safe travels, Adam!
I was watching on my TV but had to jump onto my phone to leave a comment.
I love the scene with the train passing by and the old rusted folding chair. Very classic New Mexico vibe. Super artistic. Well done.
What a Great video. I love New Mexico. Traveled thru some of the state some years back. I can't get enough of old Americana!!!!!
I think this was my favorite state yet! Very scenic!
Continuing to be amazed, awed and mesmerized by the continuing saga. This one reflects my state..NM. Many historic and folky towns in NM!!!
Turquoise Trail is one of our favorite drives in New Mexico. Madrid has turned into quite the artist enclave.
Made that trip in December 2008 with snow on the ground. Awesome. Thanks
Every sunset is unique never the same
I grew up in New Mexico since I was a kid and this brings me so much memories, but now I live in another state in the city.
Good old New Mexico! That is where I once learned what snipe hunting was.
🤣 Yes snipe hunting!!! I'm a born and raised NM girl.
I think thats where I first heard about the snipe hunting...lol. Albuquerque guy here
What the heck is snipe hunting?
How many did you catch in your tow sack? You catch more with a white bag than a black one!
We hunt snipes in Texas, too!
NM is cold in January... I’d move back in heartbeat. I love that state - it’s called the Land of Enchantment for good reason.
I love new Mexico! I'll never leave it! Enchanted indeed!
@Patrick Gragg Meh i'm sure they don't miss you either good riddance.
@Patrick Gragg You don't want to hear anything yet you post you're BS on a public UA-cam Forum lol where ANYONE can chime in soo like i said man obviously Bosque Farms didn't know you even existed anyways because it's still thriving...well. Stay gone.
New Mexico SUCKS !
I sure miss my Homeland of Encouragement, thank you for letting remind me how much I still love it.
LB HOPRSNFD *enchantment. Wow.
I love Adams epic Americana road trips across the beautiful USA I'm inspired to see my country this way also.🇺🇸
Hello I live in Minnesota now I've been here for 35 years was raised in Albuquerque New Mexico not been back in a long time thanks for the pics I enjoyed them all reminds me of home thanks again someone who cares in the Great Lakes area home of the meanest people on the planet
Adam you are 1 of a kind amigo. Safe Travels my friend.
I’m from NYC and I love NM with all my heart. Each time I’ve been there, I liked it even more. It’s the perfect place to unwind and meet some lovely people
I live here in N.M. met a lot nice people from New York here this summer.
@Derrick Bridges Think its a lot cheaper out here, where I live there's a lot of horse barns and I think it's more affordable for them to board out here . Soon they start wearing all the cowboy stuff its funny to see
Maureen Gonzalez I’m from NY, born and raised all my life up until last year, I’ll take you to NYC!
Impressed that you were standing on the sidewalk wearing a T-shirt, I froze my ass off in New Mexico at this time of year once.
I was waiting to hear, "there goes the monorail" while the train cut through the horizon, but quickly remembered no theme parks in this series. I'm loving it all! Safe travels.
I love this channel......I love Nostalgia & forgotten places....
Brilliant cinematography 😲 you had a great back drop 👍
Adam has become absolutely brilliant at filming his vlogs. He’s a master.
Thank you
I was so glad I explored New Mexico last year, discovering beautiful landscapes(Bisti Badlands) and abandoned places. I drove the circle of enchantment in Carson National Forest....
It’s a miles of emptiness here. But this make me feel I need this kind of road trip.
The emptiness as you call it ,has a beauty of its own. Don't you think?
Lots of empty space up north. Further south it's more condensed, hilly and even mountainous to the west. Silver City is glorious! As is Cloudcroft. We live in Truth or Consequences. South central New Mexico. Deming is a quaint little town of much color and charm. Las Cruses is fast becoming a virtual suburb of El Paso, Texas.
If you do take such a road trip make sure you have a good car or van that is very new or have it worked on by a mechanic you can trust. You don't want to have it break down in the middle of nowhere.
Simply Loved your visit to New Mexico,Video.
Hope to see more in the future.
Take care!
Loved the long shot of the train. Very nice!
