- Sine Wave guitar specs: Strings: Martin M170 80/20 Bronze - Extra Light .010/.047 Five piece, carbon fiber reinforced maple/ebony neck. 23.5” scale length. 19” wide carved sitka spruce top. Ebony bridge and fretboard. The beam through the center of the body is made from a very stiff piece of quarter sawn wood, with two square 10mm carbon rods in the center and multiple layers of carbon fiber laminated to both sides in a press for added rigidity and light weight. The 10mm rods that support the outside rim are solid carbon fiber - for rigidity and a high internal resonant frequency to protect against overtones or damping that might take string energy away from the top. The outside rim is a molded carbon fiber reinforced composite - designed for density and rigidity. The rim and the edge of the top form a total side depth of 1”. The guitar weighs 1/2 oz under 6 lbs/2.72kg. The top braces are made from tightly grained Sitka spruce, and are transformed into compression trusses with the addition of carbon fiber strips. The carbon strips allow you to carve the X braces slimmer - removing mass that the strings must vibrate to make sound, while at the same time putting the braces into compression. This transfers some of the down pressure created by the string break angle over the bridge directly to the carbon strips - putting them under tension. During carefully controlled decibel meter testing (each part repeated ten times and an average result computed) at different frequencies on a custom test rig, the compression truss brace outperformed a standard shaped brace by a considerable margin. The Sine Wave is capable of producing 95db of volume with hard strums on a first position Emaj chord, measured with my db meter 12-16” from the top. I feel that this is a surprising level of volume coming from a short 23.5” scale with extra light gauge strings. A big “Thank You!” to Jason Flores at Krivo pickups for his kind and knowledgable assistance, and for his “Universal Acoustic Mini-Humbucker” pickup. It is designed to work with bronze wound acoustic strings and make great acoustic tones come out of an amp, and Jason is great to work with when you’re dealing with an out-of-the-ordinary instrument that will need a little special attention. He sent me two different pickups to test - and in full disclosure, I happily paid for the one I kept. A link to this pickup on the Krivo website is below, as well as a link to video part two - a more in-depth look into the overall design of the guitar.

Wonderful on many levels. Great demo & beautiful guitar. Also, great playing. Even I don't have your skill as a guitar player the fact that you were finger picking and not using a plastic pick was a huge help in choosing a pickup. Thank you!
You're welcome! I'm glad the video helped you make a decision about the Krivo pickup. I haven't played with a pick in so long that it's awkward when I try it, but I'm far from being a proficient player. I lack the dedication necessary to become a good guitar player because I have too many other interests.
Great work, sounds great and covers quite a bit. I love how darn loud it is, nice inlay work too
Thank you! That inlay work is getting a lot harder to do with 60 year old eyes. When I was young I didn't need glasses to do it - now it takes +3.25 readers to see what I'm doing. Getting old is not for sissies.
@WhitakerGuitarsandMusic I hear you on that mate, I feel 20 still but my 40 year old eyes are getting that way lol.
Would be awesome to see some inlay work too!
Really enjoyed your videos, also trying to be a hobby luthier. So its good to see another no BS channel, instantly subscribed.
Very talented content, cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
I also really enjoy your outside thinking, i can tell its nothing new to you.
Love your doghouse guitar with the paint lids, extremely clever and unique 👌 😀
@@emdae921 Thank you for the kind words. I've been thinking about what to put on video that people might really like to see, and inlay work should definitely be on the list. With prices on everything so high, I'm having to reign in my "experiments in luthiery" to more economical endeavors. I'm actually starting a new build/video today. I ran across what I think is a real find in an antique booth at a craft fair. I'm going to put a few other projects on hold and jump on this project - and like I tend to do, I'm going to take something simple and make it complicated. I just can't help myself...
interesting
WOW, the volume on that when even the back is off?!! Msn, can you imagine this man building a 24 fret stainless steel humbucking archtop, ala G & L ASAT style... Man, this guy could be dangerous, I'd take someone out for that 😂😂
I like hearing what others visualize as their dream guitar. Back in the 1990's, up into the 2000's, I made my living building those one-off dream guitars for people. It was great fun, but not profitable. If you like metal being used for guitar construction, check out the AlumiJet guitar on my channel. I actually have plans to build an "archtop style" guitar with an aluminum top and a carbon fiber back - the neck is already made for it. One day I'll get back to working on it. If you're into the mixup of telecasters and archtops, check out this guitar on reverb. reverb.com/item/5700600-timothy-bram-tribute-archtop-telecaster-inspired-2016-blonde-butterscotch
How to you get that kinda volume out of a guitar thats literally just a top panel?
I noticed the pickup under the neck so I'm guessing you can plug it in as well. But acoustically: How.
How in the world. All my blueprints and schematics for my triple string guitars involve all these different resophonic devices to give off a unique sound and a whole lotta volume. You've achieved a unique sound and UNBELIEVABLE volume with just a top panel. You're on a whole other level, brother
Thank you! Watch the second video and you'll see how it's done. 😀
another superb guitar love he big body sound
Thank you!
