Picked up my new BMW Motorrad F 900 GS today, and we did a first impression of the 900GS vs the 850GS

Feels light because is actually lighter, but the shorter inter axes distance might promotes that feeling too. The point is it seens this model is more off road designed. long trips with rump and case might be not tue best option
We had a discussion about whether they had changed the fork angle. As it responded quickly when steering.
The exhaust seems a bit too exposed no?
Other than that as a current f800gs owner I cant wait to try this bike!

I had a 850 for a loaner - good bike, but had the weirdest low speed handling. Had to muscle it
The weight point is totally different on the 900. I could feel it right away.
I've seen you run over bigger obstacles than that tree before. :)

I have a 850gs and test a 900gs yesterday and I love it. The onlybthing I dont like I That isnt a Topcase.
The BMW dealer said that it will come some luggage system to it.
That cat won’t take long to get damaged if it’s not protected, do you think it’s a bit of a bad design for it’s position and the wind shield is none existent you must get a lot of buffering
I’m waiting for Touratech to release their protection. The engine protector plate have saved me many time 😂😂😂

This 900 model is much much more like the 800gs then 850gs. And that is good!

My opinion has always been that the 800 & 850 are a product of BMW marketing. They are touted to be more “dirt capable” but the reality is, the 1200/1250 (and I assume the 1300) will ride circles around them.
Was hoping for better with the 900.

I can agree that the 1200/1250/1300 is easier to ride.
But if you manage to handle the 850/900 you can really ride it well.
It’s all about the rider.
@@elmbystrafikskolaadventure7344yessir, it is definitely all about the rider for sure! All of them are as capable as 95% of those who ride them.
But the weight difference between the 850/1250 is really insignificant and the power to weight ratio makes the 1250 more capable in most situations.
But I’m really interested in how well the 900 does. Might pick one up for Motorcycle Relief Project and give it a go.

The 850 will always have a special place in my heart, it’s the bike we ride in New Zealand.
But nothing last forever so it’s time to sell my 850 now.
I can Not believe that you Turned Around when you found a Falken tree! Why did you buy an adventure model , and turn around? Why did you NOT ride over the small tree? 20 thousand dollars u.s. and you were scared to use it.
