Update battery problem solved kinda I guess. Since the battery would not work on any Craftsman 20 volt tools I got a wild idea in my head to stick this battery on my trolling motor. And to my surprise yes it does power a trolling motor that's meant for 12 volts with much greater power and speed. Afterwards I took the battery and put it on the Craftsman charger just for the heck of it. To my surprised it started charging and now works on the Craftsman tools. This tells me that the battery itself was overvolted causing the chargers not to recognize them or the tools. So if you do get this problem try using something to decrease the voltage in the battery before putting it back on the charger. This is still not a good thing since most people will not want to deal with this complication.
so just don't use their charger and use the Craftsman and all will be good? I just bought a new weedeater and blower and they only come with 1.5mah and I was looking into these. Glad you fixed it. Ill just make sure to only use the Craftsman charger.
@@juanuribe8925 don't know but their charger does not charge it but an actual smart RC charger can so yes don't use their charger but that's aggravating.
I know with smaller batteries, if a short or an over or undervol happens, the protection circuit won't let the battery do much until you put it back on the charger for a moment. Happens a lot with little lithium ion protected packs if you quick short them, it kinda shuts off until you plug it in again. The Craftsman tools may have been pulling too much current, or possibly there is a flakey connection inside maybe.
Sometimes the cheaper batteries have a higher fail safe circuitry when something is slightly out of whack to protect themselves from lawsuits. Also, it doesn't take much of anything to power an LED flashlight.
Got 3 6 amp hrs and 2 9 amp hrs as well as craftsman branded 2 4 and 6. They perform just as well as the branded batteries. about 6 months of daily use on the batteries and still holding up great.
Its Chinese company that sells to third party Chinese sellers to slap their own logo. Plain and simple. They are cheap for a reason. Lithium batteries are seriously expensive. If they sell lithium battery at less than 1/4 the price. They are defective rejects. Or they are produced poorly.
Can you take genuine craftsman 2.0 amp circuit board battery and swap circuit board with the cheap battery and make the cheap battery work again ? I have the cheap knock off 8.0 amp I just bought over a year now and it's failing the same way . I have a genuine craftsman 2.0 amp battery over close to 4 years now completely dead that I would not mind swapping out circuit board with the 8.0 amp . Do you think it will work ?
It's a possibility that it could work as long as the circuit board mounts in the same location exactly and the balancing charging wires would have been matched up exactly as the Craftsman battery was wired. I can't tell you 100% for sure unless I pull them apart and map the boards and connections to the battery.
I won't ever buy those replacement battery packs, instead I will just buy Samsung batteries and rebuild them myself, it's a lot cheaper. Cordless drills are like computer printers, the ink costs more than what an entire printer with new ink costs and everyone wonders why the landfills are full of printers and other plastic crap.
I don't know if this trick will work for the off brand battery but it did for a Craftsman. I have a Craftsman brand battery with the cells made in China that was showing charged when you pressed the test button and would show 20 volts using a meter. (I've had no problems with batteries indicating the cells were made in Malaysia.) I put the battery in a tool and the tool would not run. I tried it in several tools but not a light. The light coming on for a second then going off was happening with this battery. I "tickled" the battery with a 12 v car battery for just a few seconds and it worked. Thanks for sharing the fix
im gunna get the 9.0ah for my mitersaw
This is why I only buy name brand batteries. Sucks but I don't want to kill an $80 impact.

Dude thanks. I was looking at the same El cheapo on A and was impressed by price, skeptical on performance. Now I know
