I used mine on my 1st trip this weekend, pulling a 16ft, 3000 lb RV trailer from Kennesaw, GA to Belfast, TN and back with my 2021 4Runner Off Road. Noticed that one of the transmission temp sensors went up if i shifted to 5th gear. I was thinking that shifting up would lower my RPMs and save gas, but i think it's better to keep the transmission temp down (I just installed a secondary transmision cooler, so, I was extra curious). This tool, so far, has helped me monitor things in a bit more detail. I would like to add Oil Pressure, but I don't think this 4Runner has an oil pressure sensor. I plan on hooking it up to my wife's 2007 Ford Ranger.

Yes, it's an absolute beast of a tool! Auto scanning for X-gauges would have picked up oil pressure sensor if it has one. The sensor that gets higher temps is for the torque converter. That's where most of the heat is generated due to friction until TCL lockup (usually during highway speeds). Absolutely keep the temps down or change fluid more frequently. I tried both the Ultragauge and Torque Pro, none is even close in comparison

Bought mine in Canada when they first came out. Had the SG11 for many years. SG3 is a definite upgrade. Love it. Great video mate.

If only a company could make it beautiful, and color code each guage and gamify it. you could achieve your highest fuel mileage results easy. or if your goal is reliability or keeping your DPF empty and not stranding you.... what a great product that would be eh? eh. see you in vegas in 3 weeks!

Does this monitor air/fuel ratio as well?

    Why not use torque?

      Torque is nice but:
      1. You have to use your phone which is kind of annoying because I also want to use it for GPS navigation. Was planning on using one of my old android phones but then, I would have to set it up every time or leave it hooked which can lead to the car being broken into.
      2. The OBD2 module stays lit. It must draw a bit of power (might drain the battery when left connected for days). Connecting and disconnecting all the time may also induce wear on the OBD2 port of the car, while the ScanGauge can stay connected with no power draw.
      3. I was lucky to get the codes for the custom PID to display my transmission fluid temperature, but lots of people were not lucky as those codes are not available for a lot of cars. I even tested out the UltraGauge (no codes for trans temp readout for my car). Then just like magic the Scangauge 3 scans the car for those codes.
      4. The torque pro app can be finicky sometimes (bugs), lots of functions are not working and it seems like most issues aren't being addressed. In the other hand, the ScanGauge 3 is touch screen, no lags, no need to google codes and setup extended PIDs (even though you can still do that), displays current gear, TCL lockup, ...

@@YvonSmart I have torque pro and I agree with what you are saying. PowerDraw is one of the things I worry about. Also the annoyance of set up and finding PID codes. I hope they come out with clean mounts for the scan gauge 3, I don't want to suction cup it to the windshield as I have a tint on there, which people say might damage it.

@@LoveLikeaHurricane Yeah, It's a bit too heavy for the tint film. Thinking of designing and 3D printing a dashboard integration but it can't be compatible with all cars. It just feels like unfinished work. the enclosure could have been smaller and the cable thinner

Okay, right off the bat, who gives a shit about the box.

It's not about the box, it's about all the printed information that I may have not mentioned...
