- Having used many other brands of diagnostic tools, 'Launch' contacted me to review their latest Launch X431 Pro Elite diagnostic that can diagnose 100+car brands and 1000+ car types with 2 year updates and full bi-directional control.
I put it through its paces and test what it can do comparing it to my Autel Maxicom MK808! There are some amazing functions that are advertised with this Launch and for the money it seems a great choice !
I go deep into the tools, clear lots of codes and checking out the bi-directional capabilities, I then give my overall opinion.

It is quite simple. The reason you have the choice of scanning individual ECAs is, because if you know that you have a fault with the IBS, you just scan the ABS system or a fault with the gearbox you just scan the fault with the gearbox if you put in the health report, then it will take longer for it to scan the whole system just to save time really, and the Autel should have health report feature on it as well to scan the whole system
i just got a autel i had one before a older one i find that autel you can do more programming wise never really got into the others :)

Good scanner for porsche as well fuel priming brakes adjust etc etc but has taken me a while to navigate. Some more intruction videos are needed IMO. Had to buy the I-tpms tool to do sensors another $140. took me a while to figure out. my first scanner. so far its been worth it. buy direct from launch its cheaper an they ship fast.
The thing I hate about all the types of scanners, is all the different years and models. The only reason I haven’t bought one is because I don’t want to buy last years version

It would be interesting to see what the launch can do with the BCM electrical as I have BCM problem with my Range Rover.

GOOD VIDEO THANKS FOR SHARING THAT INFORMATION VERY WELL EXPLAINED I HAD A BRAN NEW AUTELL DIAGNOSTIC MAXI SCAN OFF EBAY AND IT WOULD NOT CONNECT TO MY FORD FOCUS MK3 DOES THIS HAVE TOPOLOGY MAPPING 😊
The 3 different scan types are not the same...for example system scan will scan and tell you what modules are ur car equipped...scan health report diagnostic
Hi there, I'm looking to fix throttle delay for my mercedes w204. Read in forums all I have to do is to Increase the Pedal Curve from KLD1 to KLD 4. Do you think the x431 can do it? Or will I have to take the xentry route?

Good day mate. I'm looking to buy a used car in Europe. The problem is that most cars there have fake mileage. I don't know which car yet. If you can tell me which scanner ( which can I buy In Australia ) , can read the right mileage from the largest number of the cars. Thanks.
the Maxicom is a little cheaper and importantly allows you to connect to multiple cars.
Im not big into Lauch, but I did what I though was a brake reset, now have no hand brake and dash says in Brake test rig mode, can't seem to find away out of it, can you help please?
hi there, what car do you have? on Mercedes you can try this:
1. Vehicle stationary, steering centered, foot off brake, engine running, flat ground, open area about 100' or more across.
2. Press ESP Off; ESP warning light will begin flashing. When it goes solid, proceed.
3. Press brake pedal
4. Shift into D
5. Release brake
6. Begin driving 10-15 mph, steering > 90 deg, < 180 deg. You have to execute about a half turn.
7. When ESP light begins flashing, brake to a stop.
8. Shift to N
9. Release brake
@@GrooveOn A Mercedes V Class, The parking brake pull switch is not working at all, I'm getting a orange brake light on in the dash constant, and then in the centre its say Brake test Rig to Brake !

Whilst functional comparison is great, the comparison nevertheless should be all encompassing and include the initial capital cost as well as recurring licence renewal costs. Surely, only then can you judge what you should buy and can afford long term!
thats a fair point , the unit will still work without the subscription, but it will not be up to date.

I've got one, finding it's not great. Have of the features are not compatible when you come to use them. I've had basic obd2 scanners with more functionality

hi there, I use Garmin Dash cams, they are excellent, very reliable and small. It has speed camera alert, wi-fi to send video to your phone etc., voice control too. The model is Garmin 65W

Does your SL350 have Active Body Control? not sure. My Sl500 does, and I'm looking to see if the wheel lift cylinders(Ride height) can be manually set. Also if the 'Rodeo' function can be engaged. Many thanks . great vid
