From France, a big 'thank you" for all your efforts and your fantastic work to save this automobile monument. Don't forget that, if you are missing parts, DS enthusiasts have them in stock here.
Nice one Pascal, that is so good to know, I had a friend in Puy La Vec, half an hour north of Cahors, who owned a beautiful DS, amazing les vuature, so far ahead of their time.
Chapeau!
Uhuu the DS 19 or Pallas as many refer to it. I had a neighbor well he still have it on Galicia, far far away. I remember watching it on the road wath a car, is in dark green and nearly mint condition.
My father owned one of these for years. Great cars and fast cruisers for their time. Like being on a magic carpet. Everything hydraulic. Funnily enough ours had a fibreglass front bonnet as opposed to the aluminium one found here. They must have realised it was cheaper to make. I remember well because some dude with road rage (nothing new here) tried leaning in on the front bonnet to damage it and it just sprang right back into shape 🙂 Only slight damage was a crack in the paint but it kind of polished out. I'd love to have one today. So comfortable and in advance on their time. I never realised how well situated the engine was. So low and behind the front axle ! No wonder the handling was good too.

Over 20 years my father had three to five of them; the latest being the all leather hupolstery Pini Farina convertible; that was class.
I LOVE the no talking/no music! Beautifully filmed, too. Thank you SO much for bringing an old beauty back to life. It feels like a very noble thing to do. It makes me sad to see any car thrown out. Thanks for some great entertainment.

44:10 the DS is alive. You all make me cry of joy with all the little details hands-on on the job. I am 73 and on September 7/2024, I will be in Paris for a family reunion. I love all the old French cars Citroen Traction 15, Renault Dauphine, Peugeot 203, Simca, Deux Chevaux. I enjoyed your video hands-on job and the wonderful camera lady, you are the pro, as a mechanic helper for 49 years from Oregon. God bless your families.
I'm French and my grandmother had one who was spotless, the main problems was the lack of power steering and that lovely Citroën suspension who cost an harm and a leg when it break down. I remember her struggling to do maneuvers with this big car as a very small woman and I will never forget the laugh been on the backseat with a suspension who needed to be repaired. It's an amazing car who could be incredible with discreet comfort and safety updates mod.
I've seen pictures of these, but I have never actually seen anyone work on one of these. This is a heckuva project to take on, considering that it was partially disassembled. Everything for this car is probably unobtainium in the States. I'm glad you guys gave her a shot though. What an unusual, but really cool old car.
Did you notice the adjustable wrench almost falling?... Lol... Great video!, as a car guy noticed it, nothing to worry about, it is just something that happens when you're excited about a project...
Absolutely loved it!! After seeing so many restoration videos, most of which are full of throw this out and throw that out and replace with new, you guys worked so hard and diligently to wash and clean almost the entire engine to make it run again so smoothly, purring almost! Lovely, old-school know-how and elbow grease. Was totally floored by the scorpion in the cylinder!!
Hydraulic brake lines can be substituted for suspension lines. Remember, those lines and that reservoir are responsible for the power steering, the brakes, the suspension and if it was a citromatic semi automatic, the transmission as well. In other words, when red fluid is leaking, you can lose your brakes and steering so that your suddenly bouncy suspension will be the least of your worries! When the suspension is correct, you will feel almost nothing in the way of bumps. Don't lose anything. A lot of bolts, neoprene rubber and other parts are unique. Amazing work for someone not familiar with Citroen.
hi guys i'm french and this is a tremendous car who sit at 4100 miles away from france !! thanks a lot for sharing with us this old lady's recovery . god damn it's so satisfying to listen to mecanic without free right music
I worked on these for a while in the early '70's, and had a '59 ID19. Awesome cars. I recognize you all's skills and the camerawork is great. Watch out for rust. I once had one up on stands like you and they punched right through with no warning. There's a place to bleed the air out of the hydraulics on a regulator on the intake side of the engine. It has a sphere on it. There's an 8mm stub on the side.. With the engine running, crack it open for a minute, then close it. You have to reach down in there. Barring leaks, the car should rise. It takes a special hydraulic fluid. I want to say castor oil based, but I'm not sure. Nice work.
Very much enjoyed this. My Grandfather used to have one of these in the 60s and 70s and he’d regularly take it completely apart. I’d help some and I’ve always wished I had one of these. The ride was superb. I like the silent format, but some reaction to the scorpion find in the cylinder was probably muted out.😂
I used to own a successor to the DS, an XM 3 litre V6. Where that car came into its own realm was at high speed, so quiet and smooth. The comfortable interior of the XM was outstanding with its large seats and legroom. I had a few Visas aswell. Citroen were different and worthy cars.
This brought back so many memories. I learned to drive stick on a ‘63 ID19. My older brother had one. He was in the merchant marine,so his sat for long periods. Had to go through something similar each time he got off a ship.
amazing how alive a silent version is with the everyday sounds :) brilliant production as usual i prefer the silent versions... a bit of a topic i see, the captions explained things well
A pleasure to watch! No bullshit acting, music, over editing or drama. Just letting the images do the talking with a few short explanatory textboxes. My hat's off to you gentlemen 🎩
I watched with great pleasure & satisfaction, your film on the total restoration, of a classic French 1960's car. Thank you so much for the silence, as the visuals said it all. What a joy to see the process of the moment by moment transformation of this beauty. Thank you for sharing!
For me, it's more satisfying to hear father and son talking throughout the video about the car they're working on, the problems they're having and so on. The silent stuff is kind of creepy.
My friends parents had one of these Citroen DS many times I sat in there and had a comfortable luxurious ride with them, as a 10ager. Always loved them and found them futuristic looking.
Truly love your channel and your personalities and miss your personalities in this video. Love your comments and explanation of what's going on. Not a fan of the silence but still enjoyed watching.

Unbelieable rust buckets. I have had one in the '60th. The suspension- and hydrolic brake ppipes rusted out in a few years... But very confortable cars. This is an ID from the first generation. The DS was more luxurious. Unblieable that she survived....
A friend of mine had one of these back in the 70's. It had hydraulic lifts front and rear. 4-speed auto clutch. Very state -of-the-art back then. Must have been a newer model, maybe 73-74. Nice car. Those Frenchies did things a little different. lol. Great video. No BS just work.
This - and the BMW Isetta - is my all-time favourite car. I've never seen one in person, I've (obviously) never even sat in one, but this car is my dream. I watch every video I can about them, and this one is perfect. Once it's running, you don't even need a jack to change the tire - just use the pneumatic suspension. It's like the car of the future - still. Love it , and I love this video. Thank you :)
I love to watch what y’all do, but mostly y’all talking with each other. I can’t imagine this is easy for you to do trying to keep your mouth shut all the time. I don’t like the nonverbal shows. I only watch it to support you because MamaCard does Love you.
So surreal to see a DS in this environment. Appreciation to have the balls to even have a look at it for restoration. It's a very brand typical car. Loved the welding job. I've been working in a pilot foundry for 18 years and it's nice to see there are people that know what they're doing with cast iron. Time to throw an egg in that radiator XD.

Too big to be mouse, definitely a rat.
I've seen some crazy things in life, but here the guys resurrected a DS ID zombie is beyond grandiose, hats off!
I LOVE the no talking/no music! Beautifully filmed, too. Thank you SO much for bringing an old beauty back to life. It feels like a very noble thing to do. It makes me sad to see any car thrown out. Thanks for some great entertainment.
Thank you very much for your interest in this French heritage! good luck with the restoration ! 👍👍
I love your channel and will always support your work. I really enjoy hearing ya'll explain yalls thoughts and ideas while reviving theses vehicle's. I'm not sure why ya'll chosen to do the silent film episodes, but I am just happy to see a new episode after so long. I've really missed you guys!
I also prefer to hear them interact and I found it more educative.
Nothing wrong with trying something different...!!!!
Yes, I rather hear y'all explain what is going on...
I kind of like this style as long as it's once in a while and not every video forward...!!!!
Because you can't please everyone and people complained that they were talking too much.
@@dougcrysdale2045 Such people should just skip 10 sec
I also am a fan but not the silence
Thank you for this restoration! when I think of all these wonderful DS Citroëns rusting in France, I say bravo
I've had several IDs and DSs...beautiful cars. The video editing work here is also amazing.
it's a beautiful car, it deserves a full restoration
I have seen everything now. Scorpions in cylinders was all I needed. 😂
😂😂😂🦂🦂🦂
Luckily, there were not any scorpions found during my colonoscopy last week. 👍😆
@@guzziwheeler maybe the medics were too polite to mention them.
@@jonka1 The medics are working with the scorpions, theyre the ones that usually put them up there.
I can imagine how hard this was to not say a word ...
Imagine how many takes it took to stay quiet...!!!!
Considering the renovation would have taken days/weeks, I'm sure it would be hard to edit an hour of video with parts where they aren't talking.
58 years old, and watching a deaf and silent film for the first time, but in color, and in HD.
the good old days!
good job boys !
But it is not safe 😭
@@earlparsons9653BINGO! These guys are jackasses. (Note they neglected to show pouring “stop leak” in the radiator) Just my two cents.....
Hope you rebuild this wonderful car . I’ve loved the ID/DS since I was six or seven, I’m now in my seventies.😊😊😊😊😊😊
so many good projects in that yard. Love seeing this lil French thing get a new lease on life
hi guys i'm french and this is a tremendous car who sit at 4100 miles away from france !! thanks a lot for sharing with us this old lady's recovery . god damn it's so satisfying to listen to mecanic without free right music
I like the silent format, but some reaction to the scorpion find in the cylinder was probably muted out.😂
I really like your banter and thoughts while working on these old cars.
Had to go through something similar each time he got off a ship.
amazing how alive a silent version is with the everyday sounds :)
brilliant production as usual
i prefer the silent versions... a bit of a topic i see, the captions explained things well
Its drive me Crazy, to see these cars being restored, congratulation Team. I see your vídeos here in BRAZIL, THANKS YOU.
Glad you found those parts. Liked the "silent treatment." Insane, but impressive. Good Job ! pb
Just sound of job!!!!!!!
A pleasure to watch! No bullshit acting, music, over editing or drama. Just letting the images do the talking with a few short explanatory textboxes. My hat's off to you gentlemen 🎩
As a '66 model myself, it's nice to see this old car come back to life!
As `62 model myself, i concur!
Ca se regarde comme un film. Je suis français, ça me touche vraiment ❤❤❤
Thanks guys 😅🎉, will you take us through the entire restoration of this magnificent car? I'm sure, followers round the world would love to see it! Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺🦘🤠
You cannot imagine the joy I feel when someone rescues what was considered waste! Thank you.
My father has had DS19. I was a small girl when we had driven it. Best memories every ..
My friends parents had one of these Citroen DS many times I sat in there and had a comfortable luxurious ride with them, as a 10ager. Always loved them and found them futuristic looking.
This is amazing. Two men working and doing rather than talking. So great! God bless you.
At 25:08 when the transmission fluid shot out of the cylinders… never seen you guys move so fast! That tickled me for sure😂. Love the Citroen DS!
I'm surprised that they're surprised, WTF did they think was gonna happen!
Truly love your channel and your personalities and miss your personalities in this video. Love your comments and explanation of what's going on. Not a fan of the silence but still enjoyed watching.
J’adore !
Kada rade veliki majstori, onda svaki posao izgleda lak. Bravo majstori.
Unbelieable rust buckets. I have had one in the '60th. The suspension- and hydrolic brake ppipes rusted out in a few years... But very confortable cars. This is an ID from the first generation. The DS was more luxurious. Unblieable that she survived....
Great video. Thanks! I was amazed that it runs as well as it does. It looked pretty rough when you started on it.
Like the content. I have a CX in my garage. I'm with the others though, I prefer the conversation.
Prayers for you and family and your business.❤❤❤
I like these videos there good for relaxing
The best part was the red geyser, because there was unsuppressed laughter. God gave us voices to communicate.
that was funny you and your dad run of when that lot come out of the top 🤣🤣🤣 keep up the good work
It is incredible how the mechanic was sophisticated alredy that time. And the Peter's citation headed my heart.
just pure workmanship, no annoying music or exaggerated talks, loving it ! subscribed !!
I love to watch what y’all do, but mostly y’all talking with each other. I can’t imagine this is easy for you to do trying to keep your mouth shut all the time. I don’t like the nonverbal shows. I only watch it to support you because MamaCard does Love you.
I'm sorry but I don't like it like this but God bless and maybe on the next one 🙏
I talked to my dad more than that when we lived in different states......
Genius. No words. Just noises. And doing the job. Loved it.
