Alright Alton: hindsight is 2020 and I should have emailed this to you a million years ago. But I had a big life-changing event recently and it’s made me reevaluate myself and I gotta let you know you’ve always been a big inspiration for me. The fact that you’ve never been too proud to go back and correct yourself in public has always made me believe in you. You never pull the wool over anyone’s eyes and it gives me so much hope for humanity. You’re a shining inspiration for all of your fans and on top of it: you’re one of the only sane consistent voices of reason in this whole jacked up modern television age we live in today. This video is the coolest friggen food trick I’ve ever seen and Rice Krispies have always been my favorite! Thank you thank you and thank you again for always being courageous and always being true to your own form. This might sound a little weird coming from a total stranger, but I love you man. All of your fans love you. And you give everyone who watches your show hope and belief in themselves. Every time they make one of your recipes and it comes out better than every time they’ve attempted it by themselves they get a little more proof. Keep on keeping on. We all need you just as much as you need us.

I love the idea of re-using the cereal bag and box. I do this every time I make Chex Mix -- because I don't make the tiny batches listed in the recipes -- I usually make 6 boxes worth of Chex Mix (1 corn chex, 1 wheat chex, 2 rice chex, 1 Crispix, 1 Cheerios, plus all the other goodies like pretzels and mixed nuts and raisins) and then I don't have enough storage containers for it -- so after it cools, I pour it back into the cereal boxes for storage.
The liners from cereal boxes have dozens of uses, so by saving then, you can reduce usage of zip top bags, waxed paper, and even parchment paper in times when no heat is involved (since the cereal box liners are plastic which could melt).

My wife is a rice krispy purist. She hates treats loaded with M&Ms, or chocolate chips or any adulteration of the basic recipe. So, when I offered to make a "different" recipe she was immediately skeptical. In fact, she didn't even want me to attempt it because she was sure she'd hate it. Cut to the chase: she LOVED this recipe. The hint of salt with the browned butter had a rich caramel flavor. Just the toasting of the rice elevated the treats tremendously. You made me a hero to my wife, Mr. Brown!

there was a Good Eats episode that discussed how the more expensive brands differ, and whether it's worth bothering to get them. like european butter (we see Irish butter a lot where I shop) has a different crystal structure because it's churned longer, or something like that? so if you're going to use it for something like pie crust or scones, it's worth getting, because it melts more slowly I think... maybe I have that backwards, but it's damn tasty.
