A perfect day in my life. In 1989 I visited Hangzhou. I will never forget the day I got up, left my hotel very early and walked along the shores of West Lake. Then after breakfast, I and 3 other Americans took a long bus trip to Huangshan (Yellow Mountain). We spent the night in a hotel at the top of this mountain. Just before dusk we took a walk, there was a beautiful sunset. I took a photograph of Huangshan with a sunset and a ray of sunlight shinning on a mountain peak. I entered this photograph in a contest and it won Amateur Photographer of the Year. Any day you can start your day in Hangzhou along the shores of West Lake and end your day on top of Huangshan is a Perfect Day.

Hangzhou is so chill,so laid back. I remember the last time I visited Hangzhou, those well built restaurants were always fully packed with people. One Hz local told me that Hz people always eat out, they have a lotta tasty, instagrammable restaurants with affordable rates. Some Hz’s hostels are the next level, compare to those in other cities.
Most Chinese would have very deep knowledge of the food and custom of where they live or grow up in, but Amy would have much more knowledge about food, drink and custom of many different Chinese regions than any average Chinese.

I visited Hangzhou a few years ago and it’s indeed a charming and beautiful city. I miss eating one of its delicacy: 东坡肉。 It’s really nice to see Jasmine again. A beauty to match the charm of the city 😄 I didn’t expect to have my wish fulfilled so I quickly 😄
I also found it pretty awesome as well. I love my teas too (ginger, peppermint [lol], and others). I've been slowly learning about teas and was amazed that Amy could name 10 different ones. It was very much a moment where I really wanted to find and try them all.

ITS MAKE ME LOL! by the way, when i stay at Australia, My friend and I tried the peppermint tea, we concluded that Peppermint tea is “liquid chewing gum”. by the way again, its not just the building around west lake can't tooooo high, based on the policy i know, all building around west lake can not higher than 25m!
And the color of the building should not stand out from the mountain.There is only one exception, the Shangri-La Hotel. , has been criticized for many years. It was said that the building would be demolished or demoted at the end of its lease. But it has not changed, maybe because the 60-year-old building has alrealdy become a new landmarks😂😂
The cafe must be really confident in their menu to allow a Starbucks latte to slip past their entrance, lol. Would be akin to sneaking your own food into the movie theatre.
Personnaly I don't drink starbucks. I live in a country which grows it's own coffee beans and it tastes much better than those. I can simply buy roasted coffee beans from the plantations and grind my own coffee. Starbucks do appeal to younger generations though so the outlets here still have plenty of customers. But, not me. Heck even McCafe doesn't get my attention. In fact any coffee like nescafe and stuff don't get my support.🤣🤣 Sorry, that's how it is for me. My moka pot is the best.

For four days at the start of every November for the past seven years, a small water canal town two hours southwest of Shanghai- there is Hanfu festival - is there a connection between Hanfu and food at those traditional Chinese culture festivals?

I visited Hangzhou many years ago before Alibaba n WeChat was a thing. It was the most chill city of all I have been to date. I think the best description I can put a finger on is it has the most genteel classical Chinese charm. Hopefully despite growth of big corporations n modernity Hangzhou can retain that atmosphere. Looking back It's IMHO the most instagramable city in China.

Hangzhou has changed so much, the last time I was there was probably a decade ago, & there were definitely still ssome filthy areas. It's still one of my favourite places ON EARTH.
