When I lived in a hostel in japan all the guys I knew there at my hostel were like don't be one of the those people that only screws with western people in asia because a lot of the guys there were hooking up with or dating Russian or some other western girls in japan. Lol.

Hi Amy, have been following your blog.
This Cantonese food is interesting, BTW I'm a Malaysia born Chinese.
We have a high population of Chinese in Malaysia and many if all are locally born second, third, fourth or more.
We are proud of our Chinese heritage. We Chinese born in Malaysia are full blooded Chinese.
The Char Siew you are eating we also have and also the Cantonese style and another one which we called Glass Char Siew and basically made from the fat and is so succulent and melts into the mouth.
You friend Peter is so typical Cantonese like my many Cantonese friends here. His actions is so similar to our Malaysian born Cantonese.
In our capital Kuala Lumpur Chinese people communicate in Cantonese and we also speak English and many Chinese dialects here and many would understand. We are multi dialects and languages here in Malaysia.

All these sweet desserts bring back fond memories of my childhood. We used to eat them at about 9 o'clock at night, not after dinner. Grandma used to make them from scratch by grinding the sesame seeds in a large mortar. It was quite a bit of work. Of course, nowadays people just go to a dessert place. There is another version similar to the one made with almond. It is made with walnuts, very aromatic. BTW, I think the lamb dish is actually goat, not like the fleshy Australian lamb, not much meat, mostly bones and skin. Thank you for showing us the good food.

OMG the last time I went back to Guangzhou my friends said they were going to take me to Bing Sheng (the restaurant) but we couldn’t find a time for everyone to go. I did manage to try out a lot of street foods though they were SO GOOD!! Love the different varieties of Tang Shui!! I’ll definitely try Bing Sheng next time!! Love your videos!!

Omg Amy! what a surprise to see this video!! You finally back in Guangzhou! Making me cry since I just left my family in GZ to the UK. You guys literally stay in the most center and one of the best hotels there, bringing me so much memories. And the food!! I am commenting while watching since every second excites my Cantonese gene. Which restaurant peter brought you to? I have to go there next time back hom or ask my fam to go for me. Love your video Amy. And wish you and Derk, your family, friends, a very nice Chinese new year!

The lamb stew would go very well with white rice, what’s worth mentioning too is the radish that has been stewed in lamb sauce.

I’m glad COVID-19 didn’t impair you sense of smell/taste. I’ve seen other food /travel bloggers experience this and they looked so depressed for weeks! Your Sydney videos inspire me to venture out in Sydney as a local. Love your videos and stay safe and warm!

Blondiein, I'm very glad to see you at Bingsheng Restaurant in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, where you can taste authentic Guangzhou cuisine. Charcoal BBQ is my must order. I was born and lived there for 40 years, and I will continue to order that dish in the middle of this year

炳胜 was a HAWKER (大排档)like style back in the old days, They were famous for river fish sashimi and roasted pork. You must try Guangzhou's breakfast chiang fun, dim sum, wonton noodles. And late like supper Guangzhou stlye BBQ is totaly different from Northern China.

ngl when u first started including derk in ur videos or making "boyfriend content" i wasn't interested bc lots of women youtubers fall into that trap, but as i actually watched i really like derk! he's chill and i find that he doesn't detract from the experience and u guys seem well matched.

I remembered my first stay in GZ 10+years ago, my friend brought me to 炳胜 for the fatty BBQ pork, it was amazing. Since then it becomes one of my favorite restaurants in GZ, though its price is a bit expensive.
