From what I know, sometimes cable cars stop mid-air because of the weather. Maybe some part of the cable was going through strong wind and started to swing, they will stop the cable or even reverse it to stable it.
Not sure if that was the case there. But long cables do that quite often, sometimes because of the wind, sometimes to adjust tension, and sometimes because of the change of power source.

i guess it depends on how much you fear of heights. i m scared of height, too, but i visited zhangjiajie at 2021, absolutely amazing. i went to tianmenshan and wulingyuan, skiped the glass skywalk for obvious reason. climbing mountain with handrail was not very terrifying, and while i walked on the plank roads circling the mountain, i walked slowly against the mountain. that world longest cable car was reallly scary, i did not cry, but i did sit up straight like a wood stick. zhangjiajie is a little more friendly for people who are fear of height than Huashan Mountain which i would never go.

My familyis from Sicily....youre not going that far south so i thought I'd show my gratitude. I so enjoy your food vids.
Sicilian Pasta Summer Sauce or Red Pesto or as we say Pasta Cul'agia or pasta with garlic (whatever you call it, its yummy)
Roast a handful of pine nuts
Some tomatoes 1 per person at least
    Salt and peper
    Gsrlic
Olive oil best quality you have
    Basil
    Pasta water
Parmesan or pecorino ahich i prefer
Dip tomatoes in boiling water and peel
In a mortar take garlic a few cloves of to taste and grind them to a paste with a bit of salt
Dice tomatoes into a large bowl
Add garlic and salt mix to tomatoes and stir and salt and pepper if bland
Rip a handful of basil into tomatoe sauce
When pasta is ready add it to tomatoes as well as a bit of pasta water
Top with pine nuts and cheese
You can substitute pine nuts with walnuts, pistachios o r almond is nice too...but roasting them a must and give them a chop with bigger nuts.
Its a raw sauce we eat all summer as fresh tomatoes are available. So delicious, fast, cheap and easy. Hope you try it.

Zhangjiajie park is such a lovely place. The early spring is a great time to go. If you walk down the mountain, which takes 3 hours and will absolutely kill your legs, you can put your feet in the spring and chill at the bottom of the mountain. It is absolutely one of the best experiences in my life. Remember to stretch your body afterwards, otherwise you won’t be able to walk on the second day 😂

So sorry you had a hard time on the cable car to 天门山!That cable car ride is by FAR my favorite cable car experience ever! the view up there is gorgeous and the ride is steep. I loved it. Sadly for me, once i got to the top of the mountain, i could only see 3 feet in front of me because of the after-the-rain fog that rose up the mountains. i couldn't see anything except for white fog beyond the railings, so i'm really glad to see the gorgeous view you captured. Guess i'll have to go back again.

I'd suggest people to go in winter if they're scared of heights! And you also avoid the crowds! I went in January 2020 right before COVID and there was hardly anyone in both, Tianmen Shan and Zhang Jia Jie, probably because you can't see as much - but you get different kinda views with the frost on the leaves and snow covered mountain tops! Also good to walk in that weather, not too hot. I don't know why we did it but we walked up Tianzi Mountain in Zhangjiajie and you could just see the weather sort of gradually change and get colder as you walked up (only around a 3 hour walk). When I was in Tianmen Shan, i wanted to see how high up we were but all you could see was mist when you looked down! Thanks for showing us how far up it is!

Amy, your content is fantastic, and you deserve 10X more subs. And honestly, you'd get them if not for the rampant anti-China vibe in the English speaking world. If you were doing these videos for any other Asian country, you'd be in the millions of subs by now. So good on you for sticking to it and showing the English speaking world the real China.

Thanks to Amy I have completed my tour of Zhangjiajie! I don't plan to go there as I have very severe acrophobia. Even watching this video gives me all the nerves and jitters. Amy's courage in riding that small flimsy cable car deserves applause.. I would have passed out right away. However Amy has successfully made me very hungry with all the yummy food in Zhangjiajie.. and lunch is still 2 hours away. 😫
