ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On UA-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

So important to stress. Thanks Danny for covering something that seems simple but is the foundation of a good swing.
TN Tate thank you, it really does set the foundation for a great golf swing
Another BRILLIANT Gem, Thanks Danny. Firstly, managed to vastly improve my driving by adopting your 'walking' technique video. Then I soon developed 'falling off the ball' when hitting my driver and couldn't figure out what was wrong. It tuns out that, while I adopted the 'walking' technique described in your video, I was standing too close to the ball at drives, consequently, I ended up with 'chicken wing' fever!!! This video has resolved the issue ... so many thanks again for providing us with expert advice ... greatly appreciated!
You are very welcome Richard keep up the good work
Thanks Danny, I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of months now and implementing all of them and seeing great improvements. I’m 65 and played for years never struck the ball well and never ever got close to hitting 100 for 18. I can now see hitting that goal and even better in a very short time because of your lessons. Awesome, thanks
This is a basic and yet, so very crucial part of golf swing which Danny presents in such great, friendly way, not to mention, super constructive! I've been watching his golf instructions for quite a while now and my game seems to be improving immensely! Many thanks Danny... and if you ever are visiting Phoenix / Scottsdale, Arizona area, (load of great GC's) let me know. You could even stay at my house for a lessen or two... :-)
This guy is the real deal. Great and simple instruction👍
swisstrader very kind of you to say, hope it helps
Hi Danny. This was an amazing video. I watched it three times last night and then hit 100 balls today. HUGE difference. I've been golfing for 20 years and your videos are making me a lot better quickly. THANK YOU.
Thats brilliant, such an important one this. Great to hear you found it helpful
Brilliant advice Danny, thank you. I have a brief mantra I repeat in my head before each shot now thanks to your videos - "GPS". Check Grip, check grip Pressure, and check Set up. Working much better in achieving a more consistent strike rate. I hope to be down to 18 handicap soon with your help 👍
Love it
Such an easy demonstration great tips well explained and so much simpler and better than most other u tubers golf pros.
Worked really well for me.
I'm an average golfer, play about once a week... I average in the low 90's, high 80's if it's a good day. I watched this video 3 times in a row, really took the lesson to heart, because my swing felt it was lacking POWER. The first time I played after watching I scored an 85, the second time I played I scored an 81. I don't believe there is one magic thing that makes you good at golf, but this basic lesson on position and (more importantly) balance in your swing is very effective! I think Danny is on to something here, and it definitely is working for me!
wonderful to hear Berzin, thanks for taking the time to share your progress
Hi Danny! I have been playing golf for 10 mos. and was finding it problematic to get the right distance from the ball for my mid irons and hybrids. I thought it could have been due to my clubs not being long enough (I am a 6'4" woman hitting men's clubs, senior shafts.) But I watched this last night and practiced my stance in the mirror. Today I went out on the course and hit all my hybrids and mid-irons solidly (I hit my 6 iron twice on different holes from about 155 yds from the light rough over trees onto the green!) This is exactly what I needed and I had my best round score of 90 today! Combined with the chipping/pitching videos from you I have taken over 10 shots off my average score in the last month. Thank you!
Thats amazing progress Maria, thanks so much for sharing
I’ve been playing bad golf infrequently for over 30 years. Now with the opportunity to play 2-3 times weekly I am looking to seriously learn how to play. This video, above all instruction I’ve received thus far has made more difference in my game. Without knowing how to properly address the ball I was barely making contact. Following this video I’ve been hitting the ‘sweet spot’ on my clubs A LOT more! While my accuracy is still quite lousy it is so much more fun to properly hit the ball rather than what I was doing before! Thanks Danny!
My pleasure Chad, thanks for taking the time to share
Great video. I've gotten coached many times and have seen hundreds of these videos but I still had problems hitting the ball solidly and on-line. After watching, I went out to the range and hit almost every ball perfectly. Even the mis-hits were better than before. I must have been doing the thing you showed where I adjust my club position after address. Thanks!
I realize this video is 3 years old, but I just did a simulation and found that my normal setup is almost a club length off from where I should be. I setup to the ball as I normally would, marked my foot location, then I did the steps you showed above. The amount of correction I would need to make is the obvious cause of my inside out shots where my mind knows where the club head "should be". Mid blown and thanks again!!!
Happy to help jason
So good!!! Very helpful, can't believe I was missing some these fundamentals!
Danny, Always has been a problem for me so I plan to work on this technique and cannot wait to practice with my driver. Your video instruction has dropped my handicap down “four” strokes over the past two months so I cannot thank you enough. ! I am now an 11 trying to go single digit and with your guidance, I feel like I can get there. Thank you for the direction and your time.
Magic, just yesterday I was thinking about how far away do you stand from the ball. And went to you tube this morning and here’s Danny with advise. Thank you for these great videos.
This changed my game! Right away I felt I was connected and in control! Thanks for posting! Hello from Dallas, TX.
Jose manuel Lopez great to have you here Jose, thanks for the feedback
back to fundamentals always help ty Danny ..... I'm very new to your site but loving it ... esp the Pete Cowen butterfly grio and set up in the bunkers .. the way you showed the set up with the camera looking down has changed my bunker play completely I now aim for the bunker on a really hard approach instead of aiming.ing away , because it's easier to get on the green with the next shot then chipping from 15 yards .. ty so much ....
single handicapper, my pleasure...bunker shots are very satisfying shots to play
I really like all of your videos. After watching and working on those from many other instructors I believe yours have helped the most. I'll be 85 in January but have not given up hope of recovering some lost distance. And believe me when I say I have worked at them all, Moe Norman, set up for impact, etc.etc. and nothing helped this old body like your recent video on the drill to correct the chicken wing. Thanks again.
David Zoller that’s absolutely fantastic, I hope you don’t mind me saying that you are an inspiration. At 85 and a hunger to learn is just brilliant
I Watch again and again this lesson and i find that it's really Great, Useful, Concrete and pratical.
So important Marco, great to hear you are focusing on it
The piece about keeping the biceps close to the body coupled with another video that you say to have the club face the same angle as the spine when parallel to the ground helped me make better contact with a stable and powerful swing than ever before! So excited about what this did for me! You are the man, Danny!
great video's Danny, my wife just viewed this, it's something she needs to work on, she's hitting the ball very well but has a very extended arm and stands far to far from the ball ... the video simply highlights what I've been trying to explain and now she's going to give it a try ... superb, she'll be all the better a golfer for it.... Cheers !
Hi Danny - many many thanks for this clear and concise lesson. I am fairly new to golf and have struggled with my distance from the ball which in turn has impacted on my ability to strike my irons cleanly. Using your method has made the world of difference and hopefully will add more to my distinctly average game with more practice!
That's wonderful to hear, well done...appreciate you taking the time to let me know
You're a great communicator Danny......thanks and keep 'em coming!
Steve Kaye very kind Steve, keep me updated on your progress
Danny you are a great instructor I’m a8 handicap player and you have improved my ball striking and the new chipping method is great thanks +++++
William Keet that’s brilliant William, well done
Right on Danny!! Good one! this has been a real puzzle for me, at times. how close to stand to the ball is a key question I've had, and you answered it smashingly!! Well Done!! thanks a bunch!!!
Ross Duff my pleasure Ross, so important to get the basics right before you wind up the swing
Thanks Danny this is something I've been working on this year great tip
Perfect teaching skills,Just what i needed Thanks danny
Rob Van Kuijk you are very welcome Rob, let me know how it goes
It's funny, I was just working on this very issue this week at the range and on the course. Perfect tips. Thanks!
Ed Boswell hope your practice went well Ed
So helpful review and check points. I've been standing too far away and rigid at times. Looking forward to working on this and see what happens. Thanks!
You can do it!
Another Brilliant Video. Watching your videos Danny I have learned so much and I have improved my Golf, Many thanks to you.
Gary Meadows that’s great, I really appreciate you taking the time to let me know
The greatest 8:09 clip I’ve watched to date in regards to golfing 🏌️♂️👌🏾
Thank you Charles, I hope it helps you improve how you address the golf ball
Danny Maude I’ve gone from leaps to bounds thanks very much mate. Got a solid foundation to work from now😊
back to basics...... nice reminder 👍
Hope it helps Peter
Great video Danny! As a beginner I hardly even think about his part of the setup. I'm excited to try it!
Let me know how you get on!
1:21 The tip on keeping the arms and shoulders closer to the body is fantastic! I have always reached to far. Thankyou. At a range session today, I am a believer. And all the other setup tips were great. Wish I had know this decades ago.
Thanks John happy to help 😁
I agree the set up is the primary foundation of the golf swing.....everyone should be able to do it...from there your swing take care of itself. You can not think you way from one swing position to another as the swing takes less than 2 seconds...the downswing part .25 second. Appreciate your sound advice. One key item personally to my set up, I concentrate on having my ears level to the ground, therefore, your eyes. Thx. Tom
Thanks Danny this is great, I really need to work on my positioning for my longer irons. I've found that your tips work beautifully for my wedges, however as my head gets further from the ball I can feel all the bad habits creeping back in. I think this should help, I'll let you know!
Look forward to hearing how you get on
Thanks for the great info. Keep it coming. Some of us are in need of any help we can get.
Love your explanations and starting to see signs of improvement. 👌🏽
Well done Ryan, keep it going
Another good lesson Danny. It reminds me to review the basic that sometimes I miss out attention 😼 Untill next Sunday ! Merci
Thank you. I have looked for this information from others and finally found it.
Hi hats great Ralph, really happy to help
Great basics drill Danny mate. We should all go back and check the fundamental. ❤️ Love it.
Another great video, makes the set up so much easier and feels great as well
Thats great James
Great video Danny keep up the great work.
Danny, you rock! Will do this exercise. Subscribed!
Thanks for the feedback Jan, look forward to hearing how it goes
Thank you Danny.👍
Peter Burdon my pleasure, hope it helps
Another great video Danny 👍
David Purves, thanks David, much appreciated
I need this for me and my son, explanation was excellent
thanks Danny, I needed to see that.
Danny great video as usual
Ian FLORENCE thanks Ian, hope things are good with you and your golf is on the up...woolly hat weather around the corner
Took me years to get this right. This advice is spot on
Brilliant, thanks Pat
Hi Danny; Great video! Is it the same with Wedges?
Hi danny, great content , can you please do a video on how close your iron's and driver head should be to the golf ball at address before hitting the ball. 👍
Danny,
How about a video showing the ball position for all irons and woods. Basics are key to good golf.
Denny Hasson good idea 💡
Hi Danny as usual really clear video, today I was told by someone that my alignment was way off and what they showed me felt like I was aiming way left but it worked so can you please do a video on good alignment. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Tony Gordon will do Tony
@@DanielMaude Thanks Danny, appreciate it. Cheers.
Thank you!
Great video Danny. I am 6’7” and when I do the drill I find that I am much more bent over than before. Will have to get shorter clubs. I want to be among the first in line when you decide to do online lessons. Buddy
Buddy Vance I may open up a few slots in the new year so watch this space
Hi Danny. Best videos I have seen.....in particular I found the lag video and the draw video excellent....this may be a silly question but I believe the lag drill is critical for solid ball striking and I am determined to solidify my draw....can you make a video putting those together or is it not necessary and just watch the two? Thanks
peter mies thanks for he feedback, I would just watch the too and merge them
Simple fundamental but very good video Danny!
Frank chiew, important and often overlooked element this one Frank
@@DanielMaude Danny you are absolutely right.
Ya. Your best video! I agree to next comments aim should be part of this video. You know, align your feet on railroad rails. Thanks.
Eric Fraser I’ve actually got a video on this already.
Hi and thanks Danny, another great video. I have been looking for answers for my power loss, especially with my irons, i get what your saying regarding posture, however i have been working on keeping my left arm straight at address, not locked but in a strong position? as i feel if i get the grip to close to my leg in the set up it feels too weak and i start getting to many moving parts in the takeaway? And then i start flipping and thinning etc.etc.
Graham Smith that’s fine Graham, you stick with what’s working
Excellent!
Many thanks! 👍
Love the title! Is this before or after you swing the club? Enjoy your trip to Inverness, We are going the same day and unlike down here, the weather looks awful. Still it’s worth it, just to get away from it all for a few days 😀
Thanks!
All the best James
Thanks Danny! Just what the doctor ordered!
Johnny Kong my pleasure Johnny, hope it goes well
Hi Danny, great tip as usual. Does the bent angle of the irons make any difference to the set up position? ie should the complete sole of the club sit on the ground at set up?
Jim Fairweather the tie of the club should sit slightly off the ground but to use this as a reference your clubs must have been custom fitted by a PGA pro in the first instance.
Hope this makes sense
Thank you Danny, the clubs were fitted by a PGA Pro and the toe does sit slightly up when I do your set up exercise. That answers my question
.I went for lessons and my teacher told me it is not important for connection in the backswing. She said I need width in the golf swing.I struggle with my golf swing .Your video suggest otherwise but makes a lot of sense.I used to connect my biceps to my chest and hit straighter and longer shots.I will follow your instruction and see how I go,will keep you updated.
Gerald Petersen pleasure do Gerald, if you struggle with width it’s likely you just aren’t turning your body enough while keeping your arms extended out in front of you.
Danny Maude ,thanks Danny for the tip. Will try it and let you know.
Yep you right Danny didn't turn my body enough and keep my arms extended in front of me.I now hit it straight and has distance. Thanks Danny need to practse more. Thanks for your. Contribution to the game of golf and helping struggling golfers like myself.
What irons are you using in this video Danny ? Great vid btw
Im using the callaway apex pros
Good points
Hope they help Wayne
Funky i worked with my pga pro at this this week. Do you pro’s have a Similar agenda?
Raja Dat! Thanks Braddha Dan.
What about the particular height of the player and mainly the length of the club compared to the height of the player?
Danny, can you make a video on how to aim correctly? Thank you.
Ethan & I will do Ethan
I agree with Etan...aim n alignment is often overlooked too Danny.
Love Danny, but I like the George Gankas back position at address.
Yes, I like his style of teaching too
Great
Thank you
Wow, that club house is really tilted! ;) Nice video :)
fyttirackarn funny, it does look like it’s tilted doesn’t it
I was just working on this. I was standing too far with arms stretched especially with driver. As soon as I got closer hit long irons and driver 100% better
Fantastic, it can often feel cramped but stick with it
Danny Maude when I did this with my driver I started having like a 30 degree launch angle. Any ideas?
what does sockets mean in the shoulders
Why would anybody give a thumbs down to some one who is trying to help improve our game .
Geoff Gelder thanks for the support Geoff, I’m just happy to see so many likes and having feedback from golfers like yourself
Hi Danny, I keep pulling and hooking my driver , pls help.
Great video. Where should the left elbow be pointed? Hogan said both elbows should be close together, but should the left elbow be pointed down or at the target?
Leif Andresen both elbows are angled slightly downwards so they can easily rotate
I wish this game was as easy as he makes it look.
I dont always make it look easy Jeremy
Danny, which one of your swing videos would you recommend to ensure that after I get comfortable with this stance, I will make the correct swing. Early on, this stance does seem more compact and restrictive for me. Still not making good ball contact (fat shots, behind ball, big divots, etc.). But once in awhile it all clicks, and it all then makes sense. Got the stance, need the swing! Thanks.
Hi Jack, any video with easy or effortless in the title would be a good start
👌🏼
Danny, how bout a swing lesson for BIG players,
sraper74 good idea, watch this space
Why you hold iron in the air?
just my own personal habit
My problem is that Im still stood too close to the ball after Ive hit it ?
Must be some other jealous UA-cam Pro’s giving it the thumbs down. Bizarre!
I usually stand with my shoulders out of my sockets. Man that hurts!
Oh yes
Bad habits become very comfortable even with poor ball striking and bad shots. In my efforts to improve my swing/game I noticed I was standing to close to the ball, I caught myself raising up (coming up on my toes) so that I could clear the left side. I moved away from the ball about 2" and stopped topping and hitting it fat. As you said many times, the body is smart and will compensate to accommodate. The frustrating and hard part to understand was that I could pull off a decent shot about 50% of the time but couldn't figure out why I wasn't consistent. It was all due to my timing, some days I had it some days I didn't. So far with this small adjustment I am more consistent with my irons. Even my bad shots aren't terrible and I can live with that... Thanks for the lesson Danny!...
Golf driver tips !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have many on there channel
@@DanielMaude As far as I can see that's AN IRON
Who ? Ooooops, so it is 🙈
The answer..is the clubs determined how close you are to the ball
Pro tip: You should always stand farther from the ball after you swing.
That’s is true
As far away as possible....after you hit it
I'm from New Zealand, home of the Mighty All *BLACK'S* 💪🇳🇿
I gotta say there's too much emphasis on the bloody golf swing! Every idiot has a video about how to do this n do that.
I just say *Happy Gilmore* the F**Ka! At least you'll have a bloody good laugh! Lol 😂👍
Meeean Azz I think we beat you last time we played you 😁💪
@@DanielMaude we'll be hunting you guys down come November 👌🇳🇿
FAT... just happens the next vid is How to stop hitting the ground behind the golf ball 😄👍
Marianna Wang funny, hope it helps
usual common sense instruction.
Thank you Neil, hope you are enjoying being back out on the golf course
Not at all helpful. You talk about swing power but never gives tips as to how far should we stand from the ball!
thanks for the feedback, will look to improve it next time
