I know this is an old video, and I've watched it a half a dozen times. In my opinion this may be Danny's most important and best instructional video and right up there with the best of UA-cam golf lessons by any instructor. It's not complicated, but it's sound.

This is the only golf video on UA-cam that makes sense... until you understand this concept, you cannot really work on anything else in your golf swing. This is everything and is something I had to find on my own a few weeks ago and changed my entire game. I wish I had seen a video like this when I first started a few years ago. Great video bud. This will help a lot of people. Cheers.

Breathe in breathe out. That's brilliant. When I make a bad shot, it feels like I am rushing. With being conscious of breathing, I have a rhythm that works. Thank you as always.

    Update from my previous post.
    At the age of 64 I’ve just won a club major with a consistent 72, 68, 68 off a 21 handicap now 19.
Many thanks for the great tips Danny, also our club professional. I never in my wildest dreams thought I could do this.

Boy do I need this video. My golfing buddies tell me it’s all about tempo. No matter how often I remind myself while addressing the ball, I have difficulty not rushing my downswing. I have had a hard time hitting my driver consistently with power, most of the time I could hit my 5-iron just as far and more accurate, rendering the driver a useless club for me. This video has really helped me push the driver much further and accurate, understanding the principles behind it. It's just so well explained, the breathing exercise if you wanna call it that worked so damn well for me. It stops my drives from outside-in hits to inside-out with power to get that beautiful natural draw consistently. Thank you Danny, really thank you.

You are the first instructor that I’ve ever spoken to that mentions breathing in on up and out on down. This makes total sense! Everything we do is breath related, workouts you press the air out as you push or pull the weight. Since I’ve started this, not only do I have better control of my backswing transition to my downswing, but my core is MORE activated through my ball strike. Of the THOUSANDS of tips that I’ve been given or sought out on UA-cam, or was provided in a lesson, the “Danny Maude Control Breath” is without question the best single golf technique ever provided to me!
All of your videos are absolutely smashing! I watch a lot of the, perhaps, more well known instructors in UA-cam land and every one of your videos provides helpful information. I am no longer “getting stuck in” or watching the “Manchester guy” or any of the others. Your videos are, hands down, the best. Keep doing what you are doing, and THANK YOU!!!

Have made my own analysis of this move and figured out how to make it work for me. I set up a practice station with two alignment rods representing the plane on both left and right side. The gool is to make the shaft move just about touching the left alignment stitch in the follow through. This made me feel the DIRECTION/PLANE off the PULL. THIS made the exercise even more valuable. Made a few practice swings in the station and the went up to the ball near the station and made a real pull-hit with a golf ball. Thanks a lot for this video Danny.

Danny, I think this is me. I’ve watched too many videos about “throwing the clubhead through impact” which for me has ingrained too much right arm in the swing instead of pulling the club using the much bigger and stronger muscles. I bought an Orange Whip a couple of months ago. I will use it at home this evening as you point out here, but cant wait to get back to practice facility tomorrow. Another great video!

The focus on pulling the club through really helps me create lag better than any other tip I have tried. I had been told to pull the handle down toward the ball but that put too much emphasis on hitting at the ball instead of through it. Your description keeps my swing flowing through the ball better focusing on pulling with my left srm while keeping me from casting the right hand (I'm R handed) over the top. Great description Danny!

What I like most about this training video is that the training aid is not new. Most people I've seen use it only use it to warm up before playing. Funny how you can see something that's been around for a long time, being used as it was meant to be used, and change your view of it. I have been looking to buy one for a couple of years now. I guess it's time to pull the trigger. You also explained the "pull" better than I've heard before. Now I know why the old, "Act like your pulling the strings on a widow blind," never worked for me.

This swing tip is really helping me with casting from the top, hitting it better and the sequencing in my swing. Rushing or accelerating from the top with the arms and hands are a death blow to a golf swing. I need to start from the ground up with a separation in the hip and shoulder turn. Just watch Rory in slow motion.

Danny I been struggling bad with driver. I hit my irons really well. I had friends tell me my iron swing is so much more smoother and timing is so much better. I have watched two of you videos on the 101 step in the swing and the takeaway. I have a bad habit of whipping down on the driver and coming over the top. I am gonna try these two steps and really work on the takeaway info.

Hi Danny, I like the pull versus pull power description as it’s a simple reminder of the sequence we should have. My problem is my getting too far in

I played today after watching this and focused on the pull. Things went really well. You're absolutely correct that it is critical to complete the backswing so that you feel the tension in your torso which then helps to naturally produce the reverse pulling. Excellent. I'm sure this will keep working for me for another day or two. (Lol).

My training aid arrived yesterday. I could feel the difference from just a few swings right out of the box. Looking forward to putting it to use not only as a training aid but as a warm up aid.
Thanks again for suggesting the training aid.

Danny Maude as long as I can use it to wake up my shoulders and keep my swing in a grove that’s all that matters for me.

Training update- Using the training aid and hitting balls in the front yard using your pull through technique has things going straighter. Now on to a issue that has been caused by this training video. I have to figure out my distance with each club all over again. Much better issue compared to what I was going through before.
      Thanks again Danny.

      Can you take another update?
I have figured out how to pull through my shots without having to think about it. (tee ball down to 8 iron. Still trying to work it with my short irons) Solid contract drives are now traveling 20+ yards longer. Now if I only lived near by I could take lessons in person.
Thanks again for your video lessons.

Hi again Danny. I have a problem with a rushed downswing which results in a multitude of bad shots. I can relate to your breathing in and out to slow down my swing and make it more co-ordinated. I also have the swing aide but am sure now that I have been using it incorrectly after seeing your video. Cant wait to put it all together!!

Great stuff Danny! I was doing this on every shot today - not the good stuff, but the bad stuff. My driver was shooting the ball skywards - not because I was teeing too high as my buddy kept telling me, but because there was no room to sweep through. And I now realise the reason I'm struggling at golf (well, one of 'em) is similar to why I struggle to swim. I don't actually breath at all whilst doing either of them! I'll give it a go at the range soon.

Danny you are brilliant. I watched this video and your Best Swing For Seniors Video yesterday and played nine holes this morning. It was so much fun. I liked it all but the breathing technique coupled with the downward pull did the trick for me. I guess the initiation of the downward pull after breathing in through the nose must have taken care of the transition from the backswing to downswing because I did not even think about the transition and I did not seem to need to. I was already moving my right foot back and flaring my toes. I will be watching all of your videos and I can’t wait to play again. You have given me a sense of more power and control and !!!WOW!!! What a great feeling that is. Oh and also I am keeping my balance after the swing. These are the best two golf videos that I have ever seen.

Great video Danny thank you! Our golf courses are closing here in the BC Rockies and my last game did not go well. I found I was pushing the club instead of pulling it and so ran out to the range today before it closed for the Winter and did your drill with my orange whip. I have the long one and the short one for my carry bag. Anyway, withing a few dusters and maybe 5 balls I was really smacking the ball (straighter and higher) and I found that my left hip was leading the power sequence and I didn't have to really pull the grip down in the end - it just sort of fell down. I knew this from a few years ago but somehow the brain cells re arranged and this has been a re discovery. The breathing thing is brilliant too. Can't go to Arizona so just had to end the year with a gigantic fix - like they say "you are da man!" Thank you, I shall search for more tips........cheers Patrick
