Haha. There is actually one video where JJ shows his face. Right before the music starts he reaches down to adjust the camera or something and you get a good look at his mug. In fact I think it's actually on his old channel. I won't give away the song though.
Thanks for sharing, I think most of us older folks like your style and friendliness. Feel like we could have fun jamming or having a beer. Down to earth and no preaching, just playing.
I'm not a great guitar player. But you have been an inspiration to learn and enjoy the magic that music brings to the soul. Oh yeah, one more thing, The Rolling Stones are greatest Rock n' Roll band in the world!!!
Something I wasn't expecting, I think I was most impressed with the paintings. Thank you James for all the years of advice and lessons. Also, something most people don't even think about is all the thanks we owe your wife too. I'm sure she has a lot to do with what you do so thank you both. you have taught me and thousands others to do what we love to do, play guitar. I used to be just be a guy that plays guitar and sings but thanks to you guys I feel like I'm actually becoming a musician. I am forever grateful and appreciative.
Thanks for the tour and insights. Love your videos. Straight forward no nonsense demos and lessons. I am a visual learner so they are great. I learned to play by watching bands play on TV in the '60s. I have been learning bass and recently ukulele and most lessons are ten times longer than they need to be, drives me crazy. Some don't even play the song through before they go into their complicated lesson. Thanks again and keep them coming.
Thanks for the tour of your jam room, yall be safe !!! Gotta get me a camera. Enjoy your vids and you've helped me a great deal. Best wishes to you and yours !!!
Thanks for the tour, James! Can you tell us a little more about your music background? You have a great ear. Did you play in bands at one time? Or now? 😊
I can’t thank you enough for all of your lessons the past several years. What may seem like a simple offering to you is something that inspires me to pick up my guitar to learn great tunes. I am truly grateful.
Outstanding! Thanks for the tour. What great wife you have. 20 guitars and 40 picks-lol. LOVE your work. I have been watching your vids since the PT days. I may one of a few thousand peeps that has actually seen your mug on your early videos.
Hi, I just watched few of your videos and they are amazing. I’ve been playing guitar for many years and I learned a lot in few hours just watching your videos. You also have a huge rock and blues culture, and I love it. Great work, thanks so much !
Thank you for sharing your life and guitar knowledge with us, you are a great teacher!!! I have learned more from you demystifying the guitar and making me realize I could do it!!!!
I have not picked up a guitar in 18 years I watched hundreds of UA-cam videos but watching yours you play everything the right way and I am now playing constantly I find myself somewhat board till your new videos come I love the 10 years gone one I hav eff it down pat and yo our right if yuh ou can nail that little tricking part you got it.....Don't ever think you dont inspire people and I and never putting my baby away again thank u James.
Great behind the scene and set up video. Thank you so much for sharing. I love all your videos. I have learned so many songs I would never have tried without watching your channel. Thank you.
Thanks for helping me out. Many a time I had to look up a song last minute before band rehearsal. You've always been my go-to instructor. Thankyou for furthering the "conversation"; I watch your hands, listen and just like reading lips (which I do subconsciously probably from hearing deficit) I capture the rhythm and pattern and Wah Laa!!!! "I'm Playing a song". Not just a song, an accurate version of the recording. Your channel, along with the PT channel is like "candy". What flavor do I want to enjoy. Possibly something that will take more time to enjoy or something that will melt quickly. I get to pick and choose because of all the variety. Even though I am 14 yrs senior you have provided me with tunings of songs I would have never found out "thats how you play it"! You sir are a genius. Its nice to find someone with enthusiasm and accuracy. Someone once said, if you want to learn play guitar its the "law of 10,000 hours"! Well this fellow must have 35,000 to 45,000 hrs and there were many times where I felt so inept, but I find that I can follow you, watch the hands (like reading lips, further the conversation). I hope you maintain your privacy. I too like red cars.
thank you and your wonderful wife for bringing all the covers, lessons, t shirts, guitars and this behind the scenes video !! happy trees bob ross wonderful !!
Thank you so very much for all the lessons over the years. Keep up the good work. I stopped into the HOG on my birthday in 1994 and had Andy accompany me to the vintage amp room. We jimmied the door lock with the secret key and started laughing when we looked inside. Now, as you know, the HOG represents the antithesis of organization but this room reached a new high even for them. Andy said, "The Aerosmith roadies were in here yesterday". February 19, 1994. Yikers! We tried to clear a path betwixt and between but gave up. I did buy a road worn Minimoog Model D that day but what sticks with me is the image of the Aerosmith road crew, looting Buccaneers and rapacious Privateers, ransacking yet another village. All the best from Webster, NY.
Thanks! Really cool to see the setup and hear a little bit of your history w/ the cool frames/pictures and such. Like the Abbey Road mat under your stool....✌️
Thanks for sharing, JJ. That room is smaller than I imagined and your gear used for shooting your videos proves what others have already said, pure talent brother. You could make a dime store guitar sound good! Thank you for all that you do for us with your videos! 👍🏽👍🏽
Nice set up, and of course nice lessons. Even ordered the Rolling Stones shirt you wore on the "Testing Knowledge" video, and got it shipped to here in Japan!
Very cool James! Thanks for sharing and for all your help with lessons. GREATLY appreciated. Next up, would like to see the tee shirt collectioin. You have some classics.
This is my first comment to your channel though I've been watching for several years. I don't know how to thank you for making me a better player. I love your style and variety of guitars. I have 11 currently. Most prized is my rosewood tele George Harrison copy bought from the HOG last November. This is a great vid. Thanks again and rock on!!!
This is the third year I have planned to come and stay with you😂😂 If you could do my bedroom on the next video that would be great. Best wishes to both of you from Scotland. Stay safe and keep those videos coming.👍👍👍You are the man!!
Been playing for quite some time now and rarely found any type of tutorials that fit my needs. Your channel fits my needs perfectly: quick, concise and to the point. Thank you sir.
Yes.... thank you so much for showing your whole set up. Been following you for years and will continue to do so you sure made my day. I can honestly say your channel is the only channel that I don’t mind seeing through the advertisements.
Been watching your stuff since like 2013, used to message you at times when UA-cam still had that. You basically taught me how too play. It’s cool too see more behind the scenes stuff. Somehow I’d love too meet you someday and have a beer and talk guitars and music, since we have a lot of the same tastes. Cheers ✌🏻
Man I just started playing guitar again, been years, and still follow your first channel. Saw the final video just earlier today and I was so stoked you still did your thing in a better setting!
Great tour and thanks for a great idea. I have the ticket stubs to most every show I've been to since 1974 and I've been trying to come up with a good idea for what to do with them for years. I'm going to steal your idea.
Thank you for all the good videos, especially during this lockdown (5 weeks now in France)... it's pretty cool to have something new every morning ... thank you for playing so great the songs that I love... I learn a lot from your videos ... thank you the beautiful guitars and above all - now we all know - thank you for the great rock'n'roll socks ... much better than the famous blue suede shoes ;-)
This was cool, thanks for the tour! Been following you since the Private Tricker days and your lesson on my favorite song, "Willin'" I appreciate and respect not showing your face and maintaining some privacy. Also like maintaining the positive vibe and encouraging community. Very cool. No idea where you are from, but that Genesee sign can mean only one thing... you are a former Upstater or Western NYer! ;) Thanks man, keep it up. We all appreciate it during these trying times.
Thank you for posting this. I've been following you since your old channel. I've wanted to start a channel of my own but I was afraid I didn't have enough equipment. Thank you for making me feel better.
Brilliant ,thanks so much for taking the time and interest to explain and show us all how you do what you do. Excellent! And especially your brilliant collection of memorabilia. Brilliant! 🌌💕🌠
That was so interesting. Thank you for giving a panoramic view of ‘Where the magic happens’ - to quote your good lady wife. I always wondered how you recorded your vids - I assumed it would be fairly simple set up wise - but also professional - which it is really with the ‘lights’, ‘camera’, ‘action’ thaing you’ve got going on. Pretty cool 😎 pretty cool, pretty neat, pretty neat.... ( thought I’d throw in a Jim quote - as I was him in a Doors Tribute in England 🏴 from 96 to 2008... Hard work but good fun).... Cheers 🥂
HA! I didn't wait til end. Bravo on the Bob Ross paintings! I used to work at QVC, my wife still does, and Bob Ross came in there in the early 90s [West Chester, PA]...we both worked backstage and dealt with him...super nice guy. Our friend Dave R ended up getting one of the few paintings he did on the air. He still has that sucker. Cheers!
Very cool and thank you Always good to keep is simple. What I like about your setup are the results, they sound very similar to what a normal person could would expect while practicing at home.
Awesome James, thanks to you and your wife for showing us your music room. Is your dog Corgi? We have a Corgi, Chocolate Lab and a Siberian Husky. Yes your camera Cannon does a great job. Love the artwork and memorabilia! Totally awesome guys thanks for sharing
Big River, yep, kind of one of my favorite songs too, not one you ever hear people talk about. I used to play and sing it in my old band, such a cool song and lyrics.
Thanks James and Mrs. for the peak behind the magic curtain! I noticed a mandolin case in the collection. Can you please do a few videos with it? Or maybe even a tutorial or two with it? Great memorabilia! I’ve been meaning to put my old tickets together in a frame or display them somehow. I have a neat story about Frampton and Aerosmith from the late 70’s. Frampton rules, and love Zeppelin times ten! Thanks again!
The inside scoop !! Wow, I'd never leave with all the great guitars... All's I know is your video quality is and has always been top knotch !! Your good at whatever the task may be !! Hey, when ya got it, you got it... lol Thx for the inside look 👍
Watched again and you already answered .. Have played out for years .. Many many weddings and bars. Probably watch your videos a couple times a week and have added several versions learned on this channel. Best ear on UA-cam
cool video. I had assumed you were from the Rochester area due to your very cool house of guitars shirt. Even if you hadn't said it in the video I would have figured it out from your Genesee beer sign. I'm originally from the finger lakes area but moved to Long Island as a teenager. thanks again for all the demos and lessons, much appreciated. I like your set 20 guitar rule. makes sense. I'm at 58 and it's fully out of control. I think I'll try rounding it down to 20 or 25 after the pandemic. enjoy the day.
Thanks for another great video full of information. Your style of teaching ( by ear) will definitely influence the next generation. This look at how you produce vids should be a great tool for the people who follow your lead.
Excellent. Thanks James. I looked at a few videos, most were horrible, people talking about how they listen to a song, learn a song blah blah...no information about their actual set up. I should have come straight here. Have a good one.
And here I thought the James Brown sign was the top of an LP cover and thought it must get continuously played as it never moves Nice video. Thanks. Edit: My Gibson acoustic Songbird is currently in the shop due to the top going slightly concave around the sound hole due to the lack of humidity. I was scolded by their tech for not storing it in its case with a humidifier.
Bro I've watched a GOOD number of your videos and whereas my opinion is one of literally BILLIONS, I just wanna say: Is saw the privatetricker "last video" and I felt EVERYTHING you said in that video. Being a person who hates competition, and having my message lost in the sauce myself I can personally relate to where your head's at. THAT BEING SAID, I'm a huge fan of your taste in music, your skill and ability on the guitar, and just your over all vibe. Keep on rockin brotha and don't let any haterz get you down.
Third most asked question: “Do you have a face?”
Have you seen the big reveal on his other channel.
Haha. There is actually one video where JJ shows his face. Right before the music starts he reaches down to adjust the camera or something and you get a good look at his mug. In fact I think it's actually on his old channel. I won't give away the song though.
Rod Ferro he did do a face reveal before
Yes he does.... Go to his old channel and search The Big Reveal
If you go back far enough, you will have seen a face. ;)
Thanks for the tour. You’ve been my main guitar teacher for many years. It’s very cool of you to share your talent and knowledge.
Thanks for sharing, I think most of us older folks like your style and friendliness. Feel like we could have fun jamming or having a beer. Down to earth and no preaching, just playing.
Darryl Birney I’ll second that notion!😉👍
Been subbed for a long time. This was just like coming over to your place for a visit. Thanks for sharing. That was way cool!
Cheers, Andrew
Definitely!
I’m pleasantly surprised by your sound setup you get such a great sound from relatively simple means. Nice little tour. I do like the paintings.
Thanks for years of unknowingly help me cope with my crippling depression
Be well!
Hang on, Mine took years but eventually ended 23 years ago. Don't give up.
HenGaoLaowai Thanks for reaching out of your darkness and letting us in - even just a little bit 😉 Rock On!!!
I'm not a great guitar player. But you have been an inspiration to learn and enjoy the magic that music brings to the soul. Oh yeah, one more thing, The Rolling Stones are greatest Rock n' Roll band in the world!!!
Man you are awesome! I would just like to say “thank you” for all the help and information that I have gained from your videos.
Thomas Newman jr ditto James!
Something I wasn't expecting, I think I was most impressed with the paintings. Thank you James for all the years of advice and lessons. Such a fun glimpse into your world, JJ. Thanks! This and the periodic story of your guitars has been a pleasant surprise.
I thought the most common question would be “How many T shirts do you have?”!!
There's already a video about his T shirts collection 😁
Gotta be more than 20!!
Very cool! Thank you for the 'tour'. Very interesting - and the paintings are beautiful. Stay well - both of you.
Thanks for the tour of your jam room, yall be safe !!! Gotta get me a camera. Enjoy your vids and you've helped me a great deal. Best wishes to you and yours !!!
Thanks for the tour. You're always the go-to video with no BS & a great simple how-to-play lesson. Thanks
This was awesome James! Love the BC Setlist. Nowhere Stairs!!! Thanks so much for sharing and thanks for the great vids!
You're one of the best guitar teachers I ever had. I learned quite a few Stones' songs in alt tunings from you. Thank you! Stay safe!

Great behind the scene and set up video. Thank you so much for sharing. I love all your videos. I have learned so many songs I would never have tried without watching your channel. Thank you.
So my question has been answered. It’s pure talent!!
God bless you man. I hope you are healthy and over it all.
Thanks for helping me out. Many a time I had to look up a song last minute before band rehearsal. You've always been my go-to instructor. You're so great at teaching us how to play these songs. Thank you!
James James deserves so many more subscribers. I struck gold when I found this channel.
Been playing for quite some time now and rarely found any type of tutorials that fit my needs. Your channel fits my needs perfectly: quick, concise and to the point. Thank you sir.
Hi James, thank you for sharing with us all. Love your videos, stay safe. Robert Frost from Arizona 🌵
Great video James thanx for sharing stay well
Awesome James, thanks for your passion for the classics. AKA. Johnny Kay 🎶🏁🎸

Hey buddy, just wanted to say thanks for all the lessons throughout the years. You've helped my playing for sure...
I love the simplicity you have. Nowadays everything is done automatically and through computer work. This is amazing 🔥Thanks!
Brilliant ,thanks so much for taking the time and interest to explain and show us all how you do what you do. Excellent! And especially your brilliant collection of memorabilia. Brilliant! 🌌💕🌠
Thanks again James I get so many songs from u and the chords r so right
Digital amps are so damn fun. I love my Marshall Code. I am saving for a Kemper. Nice to hear you use, and love one JJ. Thanks for this tour.
Wonderful, god blessed you and the Rolling Stones. From France
Nice set up. Always enjoy and appreciate the videos.
1. How many guitars do you own?
2. How do you record your videos?
3. How come you never show your face on camera?
4. Cool t-shirts.
Cheers 🥂
Thanks so much - nice to get an inside look! I love the comment about the "couch strummer."
Everybody needs one!
Cheers!
Dang, never thought you had so much equipment. Your videos always seem so simple. Interesting video.
Wow! James I didn’t know you used that peavey amp... I thought you got your tones out of a tube amp I’m really surprised!
Nice Video!
Thanks for your gracious hospitality, always enjoy visiting with you
It’s good to see your dog is still around. Haven’t seen her in as many videos as she (or he) was earlier in her career. Lol
Very cool and thank you
Always good to keep is simple.
What I like about your setup are the results, they sound very similar to what a normal person could would expect while practicing at home.
Great job JJ. Been wondering how you make the great vids. Thanks for all you do. I’ve learned a lot from you brother.
