    James James, Upon hearing this news, literally cried. You've been a welcome member in my household way back since the Privittricker days. So much time in fact, I feel as though I know you ! (How many hours/days/years?) I read another subscribers comment that your PSA will save a life and I absolutely agree. You're opening up about this very personal crisis, It must have taken a lot of courage and speaks volumes of your character. I put mine off for 3 years after age 50, and after my wife's surgery (which a colonoscopy revealed diverticulum that resulted in removal of 8 inches of her colon) fortunately for me, my results were normal. So many hours watching your videos, I know you're a great guy. Thanks for teaching me all those songs I love well !! I'm sure many here agree with me vehemently. Thank God your making it through, wishing you a speedy recovery. You are in our thoughts and our prayers always. God Bless You

    I’m 14 and I’m keeping this music alive. Your channel and a few others have helped me so much. I’m telling you, I’ve learned more Stones songs here than anywhere else, without a doubt. Your a great guy because most people here if they were in your shoes would have quit after the PT channel. Thank you so much for everything, and by the way, you have the best T shirt collection I’ve ever seen (lol). Thanks!

    Your channel is such a tremendous act of generosity and kindness. I’m terribly sorry to hear about your illness. I study medical errors for a living, and I’m doubly sorry you suffered this complication. And I’m thrilled to see that you’ve recovered and are playing again. All the best to you, and endless thanks for what you’ve done.

    James, God bless you and thanks for all your kindness. May I share something with you. Not too long ago, I was diagnosed with kidney cancer, had surgery to remove a kidney, and underwent chemo. While I was fighting this cancer, I sought refuge in your channel and learned to play numerous songs on the guitar because of your wonderful lessons. I do not exaggerate that you soothed my anxious soul and helped me heal. I am now in remission and I can't thank you enough. Stay strong...the world needs you!!

      Scared shitless might be the perfect term, given the fluids you'll be forced to ingest and the "end" result of drinking them.

      @mariek130 5 років тому +4

      Once that numbing needle goes in, you remember nothing. You wake up not believing it's already over with. Never felt a thing. The worst part is the liquids you have to drink the day before, but it's over quick enough. Good luck! Better going through that than the alternative.

    First of all, BEHAVE. Dont rush anything. You mean an awful lot to a lot of people. You are absolutely right about getting a colonoscopy. I have taken care of many people who got one in time and many people who didnt. And... you got that versed business right. Best part of any proceedure😎 On a personal note, I was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2016. I went through surgery and a complicated recovery, but I looked for your videos everyday. They helped me get through some dark moments. I always took encouragement from you saying,” If I can do it, anyone can”. So.... do what they tell you. Now you have a reprieve. Just so you know, we’re not ready for you to go anywhere either.

    James: Thanks so much for the PSA, and HEY, EVERYONE, PAY ATTENTION TO THIS! One of the many "gifts" I received from the Marine Corps (during Vietnam) was a form of leukemia (blood cancer), which in turn, caused me to get the beginning stages of colon cancer. I get a colonoscopy every 5 years now and they always find something, but I would certainly be dead if I had not started getting colonoscopies when I turned 50. Better to have a pain in the ass now (literally) then go through chemo (which I did for six years, twice-a-week). And what really helped me get through everything??? Your videos, James, so please keep up the great work (you are my favorite guitarist) and we will get more videos from you when we get them. You have given us such a treasure trove of material that it would take a very long time to go through it all. Get better! We are rooting for you. Thanks for all you have done for us, your loving audience. Cheers!!!

    Excellent advice. My father was a tough old world war II veteran of German heritage. As you might suspect stubborn beyond reason. Refused to see a doctor. By the time he did it was to late. After exploratory surgery they closed him up and sent him home to die. He died two months later from the effects of colon cancer. Because of that I have a colonoscopy every five years. First one at 50 years old (68 now) three polyps were found and removed. If I hadn't gotten that colonoscopy colon cancer would have long ago been my end as well. Thank you James for spreading the word of the need to have a colonoscopy. Sincerely wish you full recovery and long life.

    James, I have been playing guitar for over 50 years. Amigo, I am infinitely proud of you for using your voice and this forum to get this message out. My wife passed Apr 22nd 2017 after a little over 2 years battling the disease. She was only 51 when we got the bad news of stage 4 colon cancer. Ironically I've been an early investor in Exact Sciences, the company that makes the Cologuard product but most guidelines at the time suggested 50 as the earliest one should get a screening. The American Cancer Society has recently revised this recommendation to 45 years of age due to the increased number of cases seen in recent years. If you're over 50, I suggest a full-on colonoscopy so that any polyps found can be removed. In case you didn't know, polyps are what mutate into cancer on a seemingly random basis. Cologuard can only detect DNA markers of cancer (not polyps) which is great for those with no history of colon cancer in the family or are

    JJ, I share with you what my dear late wife said to me everyday "Jesus protect you". You are a strong man for sharing this and I can hear the stress in your voice. You are in my prayers.

    I too am in that age group and have been getting a colonoscopy ever since my brother died of colon cancer 20 years ago. You're absolutely right when you say "'grow up" and have the procedure. of the 6 remaining members of my family only two of us have these on a regular basis. Many thanks for this PSA, and for all your tutorials, looking forward to your next posting with the Dove.

    LOVED the Keith reference, and the Colon Blow isn't THAT bad... some people pay good money for that kind of a cleanse. I was hoping that by your absence you were playin' tunes for your wife on a beach somewhere, but what you were actually doing is infinitely more valuable. I haven't had cancer, but I had the heart thing, so from that perspective, take your time, heal, and remain vigilant. On the bright side, the sky will seem bluer, the stars brighter, children's laughter more musical, and a good cup of coffee will be really, really good. So glad you caught it in time.
    Be well, and enjoy every sandwich.
    For your next video, tho, I always wanted to learn 'Gloria'...

    Hey brother. You rock as a guitarist, a music teacher, and as a grownup. CSF leakage is no joke. Very glad you are on the mend. Got the colonoscopy - felt much better checking off that grownup task. You probably saved a guitarist's life from this channel. You got that Versed swoon too it seems. Dangerous stuff!

    Thank you so much for putting yourself out there. I have lost two friends to colon cancer because they didn't know they had it until it was too late. If you are 40 or older please have it done. Your channel is the best, thank you for what you do.
