Shortly after this video was published, my dad was admitted to the ICU for complications relating to cancer and chemo. I was pregnant with my first child and was planning to tell him on his birthday 2 weeks later. Unable to sleep, I lay in bed crying and it was during this time that I discovered ASMR. This is the first or second video I ever saw and I was hooked. My dad passed away the day before his birthday and I never got to tell him about the baby. It took me 3-4 years to fully recover from his death. Maria, you are a godsend to me and opened my eyes to a new world that 5.5 years later I still listen to almost daily as does my almost 5 year old daughter. I do not get tingles, but it helps calm my anxiety that existed long before my dad's health issues. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!

7 years after starting to watch Maria, I consistently come back to her old videos. Quite honestly, I don't even watch the new ones. I start them, and just find myself pining for the old ones. Unrehearsed, spontaneous, lesser quality mics etc. Its all so charming. It's like watching your favorite old shows that comfort you, before they became too Hollywood and over produced. Don't get me wrong, I'm so proud of her success and progress, it's just not for me.

    • @vampiraJ

Ida Adam i love how she speaks in these. Some of the newer ones there is a wetter mouth sound which I find unappealing. A few of my other favorite asmr people have taken to the excess mouth sounds and it’s not relaxing at all. All this to say, I agree with you on the less perfect videos. They are more relaxing.

I'm an "asmr" all my life - just didn't call it that. I know the "itchy" brain feeling and the asmr "trance" that I would go into as a young lad, often from just the "vibes" of certain people. I was never quite sure what it was about them. But you are certainly one of those people Maria. I hope you keep making the videos - I'm pretty sure you will :) This is perhaps my favorite of yours. Nobody counts like you do . . .

I love creativity related ASMR, this seriously gives me full-body ASMR reactions. Thank you Maria for all of your hard work. Taking time out of your personal life to do something so selfless and kind-hearted, you are genuinely a beautiful person.

When Fred Rogers was inducted into the TV Hall of Fame, he said, "But how do we make goodness attractive? By doing whatever we can to bring courage to those whose lives move near our own. By treating our neighbor at least as well as we treat ourselves; and allowing that to inform everything that we produce." Mr. Rogers is proud of you, Maria!

2020 needs a dose of 2012. I wish someone told me about ASMR in 2012, but I’m glad i discovered the queen of ASMR in 2016.

    Hopefully you'll read this...
I just want to say that you are bringing so much happiness to people; whether it's someone looking to relax a little, or someone who really just needs to be reminded that there are good people out there like yourself.
I hope that this makes whatever you're going through that 'little' bit easier, and I really wish you the very best.
    Thanks Maria.x

I have the most oddly specific triggers... I've had a touch of immunity for a while but the beginning when you're flipping through the colored paper gives me more tingles than I've ever had.

The new videos just dont work for me. These are perfect and Maria was so gentle and unintentionally soothing. Shes still wonderful and I'm so glad to see how confident and happy she is! But these videos just relax me so much more than the perfect ones now x

Will always return to her older videos!

When this video came out I was working an awful job that made me so anxious. Since I had limited data, I downloaded this video and a bunch of others to listen to while working. It was the only thing that kept me sane.

Maria, I was in a bad mood after work because a customer was mean to me, but then I watched this and my mood was lifted because you're so nice and calm, even though you've had to deal with way more mean people than I have! And now I feel so much better because there are some infinitely nice people in the world! Thank you!

Hi Maria - I love this video but it makes me feel sad when you referred to your 'creation inspiration folder' as 'tacky'. I am a visual artist & always have a journal where I draw & write my ideas - it is important to record your creative moments for the development of your creative expression & your own enjoyment. I saw the folder when you shared it in another video & there some beautiful drawings & other playful things which made me feel happy when I saw them. You are a beautiful person & I thank you for being so generous, caring & talented. ☺💖👍

Hi Jasmine - I can't remember - I saw it quite a few times though - she had drawings of eyes in that folder that were quite beautiful & other drawings as well...
