I daily drive a Porsche 997S and wanted to add something more exciting for the track/weekend. Picked up a 2016 GT350 Track Pack last January, over 9,000 miles already. Immense machine, highly capable, beautiful lines, and incredible performance. The Flat Plane Crank engine is the icing on the cake. The Shelby GT350 is among the greatest sport coupes made in the last 25 years. If you have the means I highly suggest it.
I've been asked this before and it's very difficult for me to decide as I've had the Porsche for 7 years and driven across the United States and back in it. The GT350 gets my pick for the track and excitement, the Porsche gets my pick for a sporty daily driver. Entirely different driving dynamics, they make a great pair, would suck to lose either.
@Gearz70 that's incorrect. They share the exact same engine, transmission, widebody etc. The R has no backseats, different wheels (carbon fiber), larger wing and R compound tires.
One of the finest “mini documentaries” about the GT 350 I have ever watched. One becomes so used to a standard car review on You Tube that it’s such a pleasure to watch the talent you bring to this product. You covered every aspect of this car from front to back top to bottom the good and the not so good along with what could have been. Your track experience compared to daily street drive was an interesting comparison including the tire ware segment. Truly enjoyed your work and was well educated on the GT 350.
Great video! I bought a 2019 GT350R partly because I consider it a last hurrah for me for V8, manual transmission pony cars. It never fails to put a smile on my face.
By far THE best car review channel on UA-cam. I do guns, you do cars. I love both. Thanks for all the time you put into your videos, I know what it takes.

This is hands down the best review I've seen on this amazing car. Just an absolutely fantastic job. When the big boys come knocking on your door, resist the temptation to change your format to something they suggest. You've nailed it. In Canada, the GT350R is just under 90g's CAN MSRP, but it's the same up here with dealer mark ups and they typically go for 120 grand or so. I love it but I guess I'll be waiting several years before I can afford even a nicely used one.

I played with one out on the local freeway and couple years back My bike by no means is a rocket. The new 1 liter super bikes have to lift and wait for me to catch up. Mine is 132hp @ the wheel, and the GT 500 was in my way as we jumped on it and I was planing on following him through traffic. I lifted, paused, and then drilled 3rd gear from about a 90mph roll and that was the last I saw of him. So those for the most part are a car that did its job. I believe this is a 2016 R model? The base 2016 GT350 didnt even come with MagneRide but or the added coolers. The 2017+ GT350 has all the R parts (MagneRide, coolers etc) minus the carbon fiber wheels, rear spoiler, and Cup 2's. It's one of the reasons why 2017+ models are sought after vs base 2016's. There's not a lot of cars left that prioritize the joy of driving over the amenities of the interior. That's the niche this car fills, and Ford gets that.
Rattles or cheap looking are an issue though. The interiour in my 99 s2000 is simple but purposeful and no rattles after 20yrs ownership. Some of these issues aren't related to budget/price but to paying attention during design. Geese is right, there is room for improvement. But I agree with the strategy of keeping certain things at cost like not installing too many expensive parts from factor like CF drive shaft.
@@TheChannel1978 that's because it costs much more to build the factory that makes the vehicle fit precise than it does to design the car to be precise fitting.
After purchasing my own GT350HE, I watched your video in 2024. The quality was so high that I was completely thrown off by the ending message, which said that the raffle ended in 2016. It was only then that I realized the video is 8 years old. Great job, as always!
Actually those alum hubs are that way because they do not want the same problem they had with the Cobra R at the track. The hub assembly would flex, then a bump during a corner while on the brakes(?) - BOOM! Blown brake rotors yet everyone wanted to blame Brembo. Yeah steering feel is the generic answer but that lack of rigidity meant the new track focused Mustang needed to be much better. The flexing hub was a huge problem that Brembo identified and Ford had a big problem taking responsibility for - lesson learned . Good walkaround on the car.

OMG, YOU ARE KILLING THEM WITH THESE SUPERD WELL PUT TOGETHER REVIEWS MY FRIEND AND YOUR TEAM, YOU GUYS REALLY DESERVED MORE VIEWS ON THIS CRAZY GOOD INFORMATIVE REVIEWS, IT FEELS LIKE IM WATCHING A MOVIE ABOUT THE Ford GT350, awesome awesome awesome stuff guys
I will buy one before I die. What an awesome overview of the GT350R. Really appreciate your video, this car from people whom actually bought one including Jay Leno, I have not heard anything bad except for the plastic and the small imperfections with the gaps it's a bad ass car...
Wow, I feel like I have been missing out on great reviews. You are truly a driver of substance who can voice your ideas accurately. I loved your review, and the honesty of the information. I am biased and a Mustang guy, who has drag raced and done some track work, but by no means consider myself a car expert. I will definitely follow your channel and enjoy your no nonsense reviews. Please keep it up and can't wait for your next review!
You have a new subscriber. Excellent review and very well done. I actually enjoy your sidekick with his monotone dry humor. Very very funny. Actually couldn't wait to see what he would say next. You guys work well together especially in your Hellcat video which everyone should see. I look forward to watching many more. Thank you!
It is so refreshing to hear your comments, descriptions, and detailed review of the car. I'm a fan now. I own an R, and you nailed it when you describe the pros and the cons of this beast. I love the fact that you've studied the machine - then tested it driving hard, and on the track, which is where the true enjoyment comes. Cheers!
How do clowns like Doug de Mouro and Motortrend have more viewers and subs than you? Your videos and production quality are genius. It makes “professional” car shows look shit. The car community needs to support you to grow.
Alex Fragoyannis All 76 people who have given your comment a thumbs up can share this video on their FB or whatever social media company they use. That would help out. I’ll do it!
I think it's pretty pretentious to say that one style is the right and the others are clowns. I love both Doug and Savagegeese for their respective styles. They have more viewers and subs because they are entertaining and accessible in their own ways.
I have been searching and looking around for some GT350s and the rear differential cooler came up soon after, advices to be careful about it (I got a GT that I track and I have issues with it at times). I’m not a car mechanics literate but it was hard just to find how a rear diff cooler looks. This was it, this was the video that no algorithm picked up, no searches picked up, no suggestions, nothing… not even by being subscribed already… but glad to have bumped into it because this is the ultimate GT350R review, even so many years later.
I love this video. A rarity to find a refreshingly honest automotive review. No agenda, no sponsor bias, no ford fanboys, just an educated display of an auto makers product.
Just found your channel. Such fantastic and in-depth reviews offered no where else on UA-cam that I've seen. Videography was soo good! The underbody and technical knowledge was top notch as well as totally unique in car reviews. Keep up the fantastic work and look forward to watching more!!!!!
Haha that's what I was thinking. Most means, at the very least, more than half. I don't see cars of this price point sitting in half the driveways in America.
@@dchawk81 He means you could afford it if you wanted to. If you think you can't, it's because you either don't want to afford it, or you are a lazy shit that doesn't work very hard for the things you want in life.
He said middle to high middle class income. So hey get a 70k a year job no kids and you might be able to squeeze by with the payments and insurance and maintenance.
I like how you say it's an affordable sports car. But over here in Australia 2 yrs later they are trying to sell the 2016 etc for $220k. The price of a small apartment. They do sit on the car sales sites forever mind you. There are some dreamers out there. If I bought one of these I would buy another set of wheels for road use. Of Course, if I owned one of these I would have a garage full of cars I could use as daily drivers.
I don't know why you get shafted so badly in Oz for cars. I live in NZ and markup for US cars is ridiculous also but somehow in Australia it is always worse. You'd think a large country would depend on affordable import cars but I guess not
Jeez, this intro is legendary and the video appropriately titled. With Ford potentially needing to be bailed out following Coronavirus or years after and the new Mach e. This is a beautiful tribute to the end of the internal combustion muscle car era. Thank you, Mark. This is up there with the V12 Vantage top gear clip and I hope to own this car some day because of the visceral feeling you took from the car and so perfectly put into video.
I really like that you actually put the car up on the lift and go into detail about the mechanical features of each car... Doesn't seem to be many channels for actual car enthusiasts, the majority just seem to be light on details.. Aimed at a general audience who couldn't tell you how many cylinders their car has. I'm subscribing with hopes you never tone down the technical details in your videos
This just became my go-to car review channel. 99% of car review videos cant get past how the car makes them "feel." Pretty sure most gear heads don't give a shit how a car makes somebody else feel, we want to know if that car is viable for our next project car. Which brings me to how much I appreciate how you guys put the car on a lift and take a look at what's going on mechanically with the car. Kudos for that, really. It's hard to get solid facts on what's legit or not with factory upgraded cars. With that said, could you guys add detail about what parts of the car need upgrading? Factoring in needed upgrades is essential when buying a new car. Thanks!
Wow. I used to live where you filmed this. I roamp on lilly pond road all the time (such great corners). Man i wish I could take my 350 there now. Great review!!!
As a Mustang owner for the last 25 years (several along the way), I’ve probably bought my last one. After being offered a GT350 for $25,000 over sticker, I decided that the Mustang has moved up market and now I shall hold it to a higher standard. I have had as much fun if not more with the Jaguar F Type R. As a side effect of moving up market myself, I have discovered the benefit of much better fit and finish. With the F Type, the exhaust is just as obnoxious, or not, with the flick of a switch. Plus it looks amazing. I get that Ford was trying to build an awesome track car, but for the price the Cayman GT4 is within reach.
"If you are not a muscle car person, this [car] may actually convert you" spot on where I sit with this car. I consider it much more than just a "muscle car"
I'm glad you touched on all the quality issues and didn't just focus on the amazing performance/engine/sweet Tremec/that exhaust note and the killer looks as so many reviewers do. It's no secret the formula Ford used to bring a world class performer to market at this price, they cut corners/cost everywhere that does not affect performance. While the interior materials are very poor I do think the ergonomics are excellent as is the Sync 3 although I'm surprised you didn't mention the blasphemy of having "Sync" stamped into the bezel of the shiftier instead of "Tremec".
Great video Savage! I love all your in depth coverage. For me this is my aspirational car and is out of my league as far as what I can afford. I love the high reving natural aspiration and sound of this truly beautiful incredible car. This would be my choice over even the gt500! Thanks again for the great video.
Love this car but it’s WAY out of my snack bracket!! I just ordered a 2020 Ecoboost high Performance Pack convertible and hope you can do a review as soon as you can get your hands on one ! You do a tremendous job on your reviews keep up the good job
I just picked up a 17 GT350 on Sunday - just an absolutely amazing car! I can completely empathize when you expressed what I'd only use to describe this car so viscerally: "fucking insane." Yup, that about sums it up. And I've maybe had her to maybe 4,500 RPM. Great video, amongst one of the best I've seen in a while - even if I'm bias towards the car.
I love your review dude!. You specifically contrast the specifics between a normal mustang and the gt350. Most reviewers talk about the "feel" of the car and only give a vague description of the specifics.
I had a set of Michelin Cup 2 tires on my Boxster - rear ones went to shreds after ~2,400 miles.... This is a ~320bhp car. Did just one track day + 6 Auto-X events. Rest were street miles.
For anyone considering an R, I've got 6000 miles on my 2016 R. I drive the shit out of it every day, track the snot out of it and it's every bit as good as he says it is. I track it regularly and now I can die happy. I'd like to say that the reason the presenter was getting so much tram lining is the alignment settings are notoriously off from the factory. I got mine aligned and it tracks straight as an arrow at the expense of slightly diminished turn in. Too much tow out from the factory and no camber.. so CC plates/alignment are an essential first modification. I'm on my original cup 2 tires from ford w 6000 miles, 3 track days and they're still good in the rear, they even a few light burnouts in them.(I know.. not driving fast enough) Fronts needed replaced at 1000 miles because of the FUBAR factory alignment settings. The tires are sticky and kick up rocks so paint pro film is essential. The seats are tight at first but the bolsters relax and become very comfortable (now I know why Recaros cost so much). Even with the ADMs that the dealerships are asking I think the car is worth it, I paid 92, cash, out the door for mine and I don't regret it one fuckin' bit. "This car is fucking insane."
+GunfightersINC Thats really good to hear you love it. Special car for sure. I really wished manufacturer had adjustable camber from factory it is so annoying to have to go and modify a car just to get a good alignment. Keep me updated on your ownership.
I agree completely, it's absurd that a car this track focused doesn't have alignment adjustments from the factory ..*coughMIATAcough*. But, once you get it sorted this car is an animal. Thank you for such great content as this is, hands down, the best GT350R review online. Drive safe.
Really good video. You went into more detail then any other review I have ever seen. Love the section where you go under the car. There is so much to be learned from being under a car. Thanks for this video!
Truly outstanding review, you sir are showing how it should be done; thorough, thoughtful, detailed, well paced, sober, a calming tone, imaginative integration of music, a deft touch; love how you put the car on the lift. Best of luck to you. Subscribed with notifications.
Great videography, love the way you film and edit all these videos. Shooting angles, opening music selection, the use of natural lights, and the ways you pan are awesome.
First GT350 review I've seen that goes beyond excitement and nostalgia and helps a person like me to appreciate the engineering that Ford can deliver but also discuss & weigh the rough value proposition when compared to Euro sports models when one considers fit and finish and addresses stuff like the wheels with those ridiculous lug nuts. Just an objective review and caused me to subscribe immediately afterward.
I think one of the biggest problems is most people are going to short shift it around 6 k , take a while to get used to a 8 grand rev limit and keep it over 6500 .
Great review on the Shelby GT 350R, awesome awesome car... FORD nailed another one, Raptor, FORD GT, Focus RS and now the Shelby GT 350R, Ford is killing it. FYI, looking closely at the "fit n finish" at a local dealer, they are both fine. If you want perfect panel gap, buy a 100K Bently. Besides when I'm rifling into a hair pin, panel gap is the last thing on my mind? As Brandon noted, Scott is wearing a Ford hater T shirt, see you at the finish line chump. Lol. Keep up the great reviews guys, I think it's time you talked your way into a GT!

24:50 Where other reviewers use a GoPro or other action camera we have a full blown mirrorless setup with external audio. Gotta respect the amount of work and investment this man puts into his craft. 👍🏼
+GSHeverything _27 Thank you!! This car was amazing.
savagegeese you guys very welcomed
They really did too. Have watched all the GT350R reviews that I can find and this one is far and away the best in my opinion
I will buy one before I die. What an awesome overview of the GT350R. Really appreciate your video, this car from people whom actually bought one including Jay Leno, I have not heard anything bad except for the plastic and the small imperfections with the gaps it's a bad ass car...
+Manny Tenorio Yeah this is attainable dream car for sure.
I just lived vicariously through you, and got to experience a car that I can never own. Thank you!
You have a new subscriber. Excellent review and very well done. I actually enjoy your sidekick with his monotone dry humor. Very very funny. Actually couldn't wait to see what he would say next. You guys work well together especially in your Hellcat video which everyone should see. I look forward to watching many more. Thank you!
+Joe Bee thanks, glad you get the humor, many dont pick up on it. Hopefully we can continue to entertain.
Those rev match downshifts are crispy as hell and the review was spot on! Subscribed
I’ll do it!
you jus called daddy doug a clown, unexceptable!
Because Doug knows most people don’t care about the technical aspects as much as quirks
I think it's pretty pretentious to say that one style is the right and the others are clowns. I love both Doug and Savagegeese for their respective styles. They have more viewers and subs because they are entertaining and accessible in their own ways.
I predict this guy’s channel get’s huge.
I miss Turbowski. His charisma was magnetic
GT350R in the heartland! What a beautiful intro...
Hope you keep doing reviews in the future, They are seriously in depth unlike a lot of car reviewers on UA-cam.
Hopefully we can keep it up.
I love this video. A rarity to find a refreshingly honest automotive review. No agenda, no sponsor bias, no ford fanboys, just an educated display of an auto makers product.
This is an amazing review. Thanks for all your workon this. Well done !
Just found your channel. Such fantastic and in-depth reviews offered no where else on UA-cam that I've seen. Videography was soo good! The underbody and technical knowledge was top notch as well as totally unique in car reviews. Keep up the fantastic work and look forward to watching more!!!!!
"Most people" can afford that car? Wow. I'm more financially challenged than I originally thought. Good review.
Haha that's what I was thinking. Most means, at the very least, more than half. I don't see cars of this price point sitting in half the driveways in America.
he sort of means that you could own it if you NEEDED to make it happen.
@@jonnyspace50 No that isn't what he means, considering it's a toy.
One of the absolute best reviewers on UA-cam, way more style and substance than some " pros" . Respect. Now, please review us a 2017 Raptor.
Your videos and editing skills are simply brilliant. You should have way more subscribers.
Thanks eventually growth will take hold.
After watching this video, I went straight to the Ford dealer and bought a new GT350.
The sound is so brutal
The review was absolutely phenomenal. One of the best in-depth I have seen. Fantastic Job! These GT350s are truly amazing! Subbed+1
What foundation does Turbowski use? His skin always looks so natural in the garage segments. Just asking for a friend.
hahaha
+scottieray Probably grape flavoured GM gear lube.
yes yes for a friend ...
Someone should tell him the 'just for men' color in his beard doesn't match... just sayin'
Great review.. FYI, I have two GT86's and have just ordered a Mustang here in the UK.. I watch all your stuff and really enjoyed your FRS days!!
I love the blurred out speedometer. Good call. I wish I could have a turn. Lucky Dog. Thanks for the info.
Congratutations to Savagegeese, its a great review!
Great video Savage! I love all your in depth coverage. For me this is my aspirational car and is out of my league as far as what I can afford. I love the high reving natural aspiration and sound of this truly beautiful incredible car. This would be my choice over even the gt500! Thanks again for the great video.
Best mustang ever made
I have to say you make the best, most cinematic, inspiring, emotionally moving videos about cars, I've ever seen.
I love that mechanic character.
+James Kerr I still content this is one of the best cars to come out in a long time, enjoy it and post back updates.
Great video! I'm watching and just smiling because I still can't believe I own one.
+Croc yeah thats just crazy.
~0.5$ a mile just for tires indeed was too much for me :-(
10k on 350hp Boxster Pzeros. Expecting 20k miles
Unequivocally the best review I've seen of the GT350R! Love it!
Drive safe.
This is by far the best review of the Mustang GT350R that I've ever seen. I hope this video gets a ton of views, it deserves way more.
Ford made The Perfect Car.
Becoming my favorite review channel on UA-cam. The video quality is 10/10
I have owned 997 Turbo and 911S. I drove this car on a track. More Fun and more comfortable.
Really good video. You went into more detail then any other review I have ever seen. Love the section where you go under the car. There is so much to be learned from being under a car. Thanks for this video!
When Turbowski wears a "Piss on Ford" shirt during your GT350R review...
Scott is an idiot. He ruins the feel of the show
@Mike Gee doesn't change the fact that the guy is just there for the negative vibe.
Truly outstanding review, you sir are showing how it should be done; thorough, thoughtful, detailed, well paced, sober, a calming tone, imaginative integration of music, a deft touch; love how you put the car on the lift. Best of luck to you. Subscribed with notifications.
That first minute of this video was beautiful like oml
yes, THE MUSIC, OH MY FUCKING GOD!!! 10/10
Great videography, love the way you film and edit all these videos. Shooting angles, opening music selection, the use of natural lights, and the ways you pan are awesome.
Damn I just noticed this is taken in my town in Illinois 😂😂
very good review, hard to hear the criticism when you own one, but I agree on all points! Excellent job dude!!
I subscribed just because of this review. Best one so far!!
I would probably keep the wheels and tires for track days (or sell them), and buy some cheap, forged 18" wheels and tires.
What Bentley have you seen for 100k?
But $10k/year in tires??
Videos like this is why I'm subscribed to you. Very detailed, nice shots and great driving. Nice job!
+WRX Ben Thank you!!
I appreciate that your supporting a company that supports vets. Great vid.
Great job as always bro. My dream car
What a great reviewer! So knowledgable with great insight on the overall picture of what is presented and how/why it is what it is, very rare in car reviews.
I think your speedometer is fogged up. Wink wink.
