- The Shelby name always represented the highest performance when associated with the Mustang. There are now two Ford Performance Mustangs duking it out for Shelby supremacy. The GT350R is a track weapon like none other. This Voodoo powered Shelby is perfectly balanced when it comes to power & handling. Yeah it's funny when I got my mustang I had people ragging on me for getting a manual telling me how if I would have got the 10-speed I could be getting to 60 almost a second faster. And I'm just like when did getting to 60 a second faster become worth giving up the fun of having a manual transmission?

Also most people can't tell the difference between that short time you lose in the manual. I've never heard of anyone getting picked on for getting a manual before, wow that's crazy.

Liking the sound of the 500 better... Interior, the 350 takes it, and the 500 should offer a rear seat delete option.
Personally, I'd have to go with the 500, the 350 wouldn't survive a day on metro Detroit area streets!

Great honest review! I have a 350R and have been looking @ the new gt500. Most of the reviews I've seen of the two cars have been done by people who own both, and just like with kids they won't pick a favorite.

You already know I'm taking the gt500! Mine has already made 930 whp and about to be over 1000 to the tires! With bolt ons. Absolutely ridiculous!
The voodoo can make well over 1000 with turbos. Just recently watched a video on one with 1400hp!

DAMN IT R.R... that’s a loaded question!! The force is strong in this one!!! If I have to freaking choose between the GT350R and GT500 my money goes to the GT500. My personal choice however is the base GT350 as I’m not in the market for a track car. Honestly you honestly can’t go wrong with either. So the best is the one you love and can more importantly afford .. I’m gone 🤣🤣🤣

I was 100% going to buy this, but now I am going for a 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro 6Speed manual either in black or army green. Just went back and watched this. I'm loving that Iconic Silver in the sunlight! Brighter than my Magnetic Metallic 2018 PP1, but that color is being discontinued. Iconic Silver is what I'm thinking of for my 2021 Mach 1. It will have similar black and red accents, which I think will look great.
Nice vid Joe. I love my ‘19 GT350. Best driving car I’ve ever experienced and it’s my favorite of any I’ve ever owned. On the other hand, would I take a car over it that has 234 more horsepower and handles equally? Of course.

I'd go with the GT 500. It's imo the best daily driver of the two. My Mustang isn't a weekend car.

Hey Joe, I enjoy your channel. Quick question. Are there any updates on how the generation 2 Voodoo engine is holding up compared to the Generation 1? The generation 1 had some big oil consumption issues which led to engine failure. The dealers were replacing the gen. 1 at one point and sending off the broken engine to Ford. At one point there were some people that were on their second engine with very few miles.
I assume you know the 2019 and 2020 GT350's have a upgraded engine block that is the same spec as the one in the GT 500 except that there is no flat plane crankshaft in the GT 500. The 2019 and 2020 Gt 350's should give customer's added piece of mind toward stronger engine life. There have been many 2015 to 2018 GT 350 engine failures indicated here on UA-cam. I realize UA-cam is not a suitable sample size for significant data for Voodoo engine failure but the information here could scare off a buyer or two. Thanks Joe! Love this content!!!

I had a 1969 and 1970 Shelby GT500 they had the 427 high riser 780 haul of course headers and turbo mufflers I have the XL super coil wires and plugs and they were perfect

I agree with you the GT350 has more to offer for the true driving enthusiast, but your points about the day to day drivability of the GT500 is probably its strength. Both packages are powerful and well balanced but if you plan to drive your Shelby Mustang daily then the GT500 has room to be the stronger argument. For me, the GT350 was the way to go but maybe at some point a GT500 could be its stablemate.
because of your videos i ended up buying a 2019 GT 350R! no regrets, its even better than how most people can even describe in words!

@@RaitisRides I was out looking for the best deal possible around the country, so I was not too picky about color since these R models are hard to find without a mark up. I ended up finding a new one locally for a couple thousand below MSRP!!!! It ended up being the metallic grey with black/red stripes. It also came with the technology package and carbon fiber interior bits. I have been watching this car since 2015! but at that time my life style did not allow me to really enjoy one, since I was always traveling for work. But I kept up with always reading and watching videos about it. Honestly, this car is so unreal. There is nothing like this at all out there, what an incredible job they did putting this one together. IMO this will be a car that will go down in the history books, decades from now people will talk about this one and remember it, just like how they talk about the 65' GT350.

I fully agree, I just prefer the styling as well on the 350’s. I also think if you want the added power of the gt500 you could supercharge the 350 and still have a lighter, faster package

RV H - Ford went with a cross plane not flat plane, due to problems with excessive vibration.. when you use the supercharger you need to use the smoother 5.0 cross plane but larger 5.2l. I think Ford felt the DCT was best match for performance and efficiency. The flat plane is matched with manual for highest performance with sound. I guess ford felt that the DCT was better with the higher hp supercharged engine.

I've got an '18 GT350R in Lightning Blue, have to agree, the manual Tremec cranks up driver involvement.
I would take both! but if I had to drive one the regular gt350 would take it for me

I'm looking at buying a stock Mustang GT 2 years old but with Magneride, then adding a blower and some other upgrades so will get an end product quicker than both these vehicles and have savings in my pocket at the end too. It's a win-win for me :)

Great video, both beauties.. I have an off the wall question for anyone.. I always thought the challenger would be the safest car since it's the biggest and heaviest, but the camaro seemed to get the best scores out of all of them.. I know most people don't give a shit, but it's just a curiosity... Feels like the bigger heavier cars are at a disadvantage for those crash tests cause they are smashing into essentially a brick wall with no give.

I have a question for you. Are you using catch can(s) on your new 350R? I just added a JLT on the passenger side of my Voodoo. I am wondering if the drivers side needs one as well? Some UA-cam content say's no and some say's yes
