I just lost my wife of 30yrs to cancer recently. this is what I needed to hear.
a little rough on the wording but...ya...a million tow trucks could never repossess what we did and had over that 30 yrs.
thanx, doug.
Hope you ok, man. Doug is the truth, that's why we can watch him during dark times
Damn right. In January I was told I am losing my wife, we met 30 years ago. Love at first sight, we were 19. She was diagnosed with a glioblastoma and it is incurable

So, how would you feel if someone talked that way about your wife?! You think this is funny with such disrespect?!!!! This is disrespect to your wife as NO woman should be disrespected this way!! What if this was your daughter - funny now?!
This bit is beautiful.
Thank you for not welching on the bet, Bobbi Barnett.
LEGEND.
Best living stand up. End of.
Agreed! Honorable mention: Dave Attell.
I've not heard of him but I will check him out now - thanks
FreethinkingSecularist was he the guy from that show "Insomniac"?
lookhowlongmyusernam Yes. Dave Attell was the Insomniac guy!
@@lookhowlongmyusernam That was a great fkn show. I hated to see it end.
If I ever needed to argue that comedy was art.... this is an example I would use to back up the premise.
Don’t you have a daughter? Funny now isn’t it….
The big closer he is still looking for is already here. A gorgeous bit.
I listen to this every month and feel some sort of nostalgic beauty,a longing for something that i never quite got hold of,something that i know does not exist anymore,
You apparently friends with the devil! This man his dark & not on the good side - as I’ve said on other posts - do you have a daughter/sister/mother? Thinks it’s funny now - he degrades woman & this is something to celebrate?! Hate your mom much?!
At his core, Stanhope was always and simply a poet...
I listen to this bit 4 or 5 times a year. It is an amazing talent to be such a good story teller, I hear something different every time.
laughing from sadness. man how i can relate. love this one. best ripe comedy period.
Really?! A sister/mother in your family? Imagine this was being said about your family member?!
Funny now?! Ass hole!
first heard this on JRE when you all took a break and let this play. So great!
Actually inspirational in a doug stanhope kinda way.
Intre showuri
Recomand Bare si Alcoholocaust de la Jim Jefferies.
best show
da la noi la tv se da mireasa pentru fiul meu si te cunosc de undeva
In ce episod il recomanda... ai vreo idee? Eu am dat acum de el din "This is not fame"
He is a true master of his craft.
Sometimes you hear somethin that makes your heart drop a couple notches in an uplifting way. This is one of those times.
This is pure art
Always brings a tear to my eye :)
Best bit in the history of stand-up.
This is a touching love story.
This story and Jim Jeffries' "taking a cripple to a brothel" story are my favorite stand-up bits.
I first heard this in like 2011 when Rogan brought it up on his podcast. What an amazing bit
This goes beyond stand up. It’s just really great storytelling.
You’re one of the best. Keep it up. We need people like you.
Thanks for the post!
I had forgotten all about this album
smiles
Gorgeous work, Doug.
Love this set . . . Doug's most poetic bit ever
great stuff
The disliker is Bobbie
Love this bit. The response on Doug's website is amazing. "1000 repo men with 1000 tow trucks..."
Great story!
their is a poetry to the way he tells this story
This is fucking beautiful.

this is pure poetry

brilliant
He tells it in such a moving way, he is very good.
he did this bit tonight in Denver. fucking brilliant
amazing :)
Saw him in KCMO last Friday. Man can pull stories from anywhere, great thinker and of course fucking hilarious
The greatest mind in comedy, better than Louis CK, better than Carlin, better than Pryor. Doug might not have the fame and fortune, but that's the way I like him, broke, pissed off, and bitter, just like me. If he made the money that Leno makes, he'd be just another part of corporate America plastic shit comedy. Doug, don't ever change.

I'm an ageing aspiring comic, and Doug is my inspiration.
He's never sold out and played the corporate showbiz game - he does things on his own terms. That, combined with the fact that he's leaps and bounds ahead of the shiny, labelled and packaged, TV friendly acts (in the UK and the US) that make ridiculous amounts of money are what make him a true comedy hero!
Wow.
I love all Doug's specials, but this particular closer bit is by far the most emotional piece of stand-up to me. This is even better than a killer whale eating its trainer alive.
God damn. What a fucking beautiful story.
Really?! Beautiful in what matter?!
Do you have a sister/mother/friend that is a woman?! This is SOO disrespectful in sooo many ways I couldn’t imagine finding this funny in the utmost! Again - do you have any female in your life that you thinks ok to degrade them this way?!!!! Show some decency of respect as a human being!!! Dip shit!
This one has an awesome Tom Waits vibe to it, 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
BRILLIANT
"You laugh........she didn't"
Powerful jre
The charity line is fucking priceless.
Doug's reply is on dougstanhope. com go check it out!
Nice jacket on the pic
One of my favourite routines.....

5:30 to the end is the best
What's she so steamed about, it's a beautiful story.
this is the funniest piece of comedy ive ever heard
Fan-Fucking-Tastic
His response is the Creme de la Creme of humour and sarcasm. read it!!!!!! it is awesome!!!!
hey doug, didn't bobbie write you not too long ago? what was it about? did you reply? please tell me!
probably the best track off all of his albums. definitely the best closer. unless you count 'rubber fuck my face' off of the wiseacres boot. but this sums up his philosophy that he espouses through so much of his material so well.
@ RollTehSuidice - Email
LOL!! sue doug over a little event that happened many years ago? under what grounds and where did he break any law? will i be able to sue my friend if he were to quickly pull my pants down and everyone laughs at me? i think i made my point...

This is almost a country song.
