  • On the same whites load as the other videos, here's the overflow rinse. Since this is a later model the water usage is unfortunately not as superfluous as its predecessors, the solenoid valve shuts off one timer increment into the rinse and re-energizes one increment before the rinse cycle ends. Still, it delivers a very effective rinse. Also notice the constant movement of the load, even when I switch the speed to Gentle. They don't make 'em like they used to...

What an awesome machine. I think the reversing SQ's are quieter than the solenoid shifted machines. This one just purrs...

Yes they did have automatics. I was at the store when they came out and bought one. I also have the automatic they made in 1885. It was made with wooden carriers that were aligned with the basin. I bought one of those for my wife at Best Buy when they first came out.

Speed Queen had a wringer machine in 1936, but i didn't know they had an automatic. Wow.Most of the other automatics didn't come on the market untill the mid to late 1940's.

Love the overflow rinse. It would be to much like right if they brought these ways of washing back.

@tmmaston It's a model A36. The "A" stands for April, and the "36" stands for 1936. So this model was made in April of 1936.

well just because you don't care what I say doesn't make it untrue. This machine is from 1936 exactly. I bought the same exact one for my wife in 1936 for our 50th wedding anniversary. We were young and glorious then and we still use it today. It resides in our laundry room with our cats.

Is this over flow a tweak you did or is this a button on the machine? I saw some dude had to take the cover off and remove a bolt to make it fill to the top. Thanks.

In addition to the solid tubs, didn't the commercial Speed Queens of the '70's have an all-aluminum agitator?

on the reversing motor queens how does the pumping action work in the overflow, does it still have a solenoid for the pump? also if you do a small load does it fill on rinse to overflowing?

Purely mechanical machines no solenoids in the drive what so ever. However the agitation gear sounds a bit too clunky, has that been checked for wear?

Yes they're just wonderful aren't they? In 2036 mine will be 100 yrs old and still going! By then my wife and I intend on having more clothes to wash as we're still having children. Sears still guarantees it too! I love this washer, I bought it new in 1936 when I was only 26 and my wife was 24. It was like buying a new car it was so expensive LOL. We still love it!

What is FINAL is that you're a denier of reality. I bought one of these new in 1936 I say! Just like the model number denotes, this machine was made in April of 1936!!!
