This portrayal here is my daddy. He was a coal miner from a age of 14 years old to about 58. Died at 65. Back then the dead was brought home in their casket until the funeral. This song here brings memories back.

Billy, you'll probably appreciate this. My pawpaw was a veteran. When he passed, the VA's official vehicle took part in his funeral procession. There were people who saw that and realized he was a veteran. They got out of their cars and saluted him or took off their caps. It was awesome and we really appreciated it.

    Preach on!
Was traveling and heard an old African American Preacher on a radio show.he was hollering at the congregation saying yall been asking the Lord for a new Cadillac over and over ....
Then he said the Lord gave you a vehicle to get to work in but you didn't appreciate it so why would he give you another car. That has always stuck with me.

Love this song. It reminds me of my Uncle Doug. He was never a flashy guy. Blue collar, cigar smoking, beer drinking, salt-of-the-earth guy who worked for the city's Public Works. Had many talks with him at family events while growing up. Died a few short months after he retired.

THANK YOU! I've liked Confederate Railroad since I first heard them on the radio, and this is the first reaction to any of their songs, and they had a bunch of good ones. Did you catch that line there toward the end, talking about his kids, "the more I give them, the more they want."? That is so true these days with a lot of kids. Another song is "When you Leave That Way You Can Never Go Back".

I gotta tell you I am very much a southerner and a long time Confederate railroad fan and a firm believer in what the Confederate flag stands for these days (which sure as hell ain't racism.) I don't judge a man by his skin color or any other physical feature I judge him by his actions. That being said I was reluctant to click on your video because I figured you were going to slur them but you kept popping up in my feed so here I am. Let me just say I was pleasantly surprised. I applaud you for your efforts. You have got yourself a new subscriber. I wish all of us could be more like you the world would be a better place.

I love it when you say you have a 2011 car and you going to go until it can't go no more. I'm 54 and the same way. Drive it til the wheels fall out. Most young people just don't understand how to achieve happiness. It's not with material things that's for sure. Things of this world will rust and rot and fade away. Whether people believe in God or not, that is just the way things are. I'm putting my faith in things above

First time on your channel and I know this video is 3 years old, but you are 100% right on the settling down with kids of your own. It took me 35 years to get married...wound up marrying the first girl I ever had a dance with way back in middle school. She came with a 3 year old(who is now 6) that is my step-son. When I ask how much is in the Christmas fund...I always say don't worry about me...spend it on him. I saw Confederate Railroad last month and not only were they awesome live...they were humble. They told us to come around the side of the stage after the show to meet them for pictures and autographs. They even invited my boy and myself get on stage for pictures. We stood there and had a nice long conversation with them on top of it.

Tidbit. The lead singer, Danny Shirley was role playing in this video. He played the father.

My Father worked in a factory. One of his co-workers won 4.3 million dollars in the lottery. He said he always wanted a Porche. He went to the car lot, test drove his dream car and changed his mind. It was a dream. Once he could have it, it was not important. I laughed, and agreed, when he went and bought a Chevy Cavilier. A very pretty red one. He was so happy. I personally thought he made a GREAT choice.
