My Daddy made it through the 4th grade. I remember many days when he worked 14 hours, at hard, back-breaking labor to see that his six children had everything we needed- and occasionally something we wanted. The greatest, wisest man I've ever known. He and Mama gave their lives to take care of us. There is no greater love!

Referring to one of your comments about this song, check out "Everything That Glitters Is Not Gold" by Dan Seals.
It's an excellent song about being a single father, and abandonment. Pretty much, three chords and the truth.
Dan Seals was one half of England Dan and John Ford Coley, but he went back to his country roots later.

Best concert I've ever been to was Confederate Railroad and Sawyer Brown together and I've been to many, many shows over the years. Saw them in Concord, NC at an arena with not many attendees for some reason. I don't think it was well publicized. Met the Railroad after the show, a great bunch of guys who signed for anyone. Awesome times, this was around 2006.

This group got started not far from where i live. They were managed by a head coach of the Atlanta Falcons back in the day. Haven't listened to them in a long time. I've met a lot of people that like to subtract IQ points when they hear a southern accent but there's a lot of wisdom in this bands lyrics. Check out When You leave that way you can never go back by the guys. You won't be disappointed. I guarantee.

My Daddy hated the Cadillac. He worked his whole life hoping to buy a Lincoln to show "he made it" daddy died in 1997 and I made the funeral home promise a Lincoln. They showed up with a Cadillac so my friends, uncles, and I carried him the 1 1/2 miles to the grave.

My vote is his daddy drove a classic Chevy square body, a Ford Highboy, or maybe even a rusty Dodge Warlock? I would say Confederate Railroad are Outlaw/Southern rock rather than Red Dirt....but they do get played on Red Dirt stations around here :-)
Love the direction your channel is going! Wouldn't be here if all you did was Nashville pop "country"....ain't one to stand in the way of a man making hay but hearing pretty boys singing someone else's song is not for me.

When I saw them in October this year, and I heard this song start and immediately told my wife "I'm getting up and going to the stage, can you please record this." I was like 4 feet from the stage, but this song strikes me so deep. Dad loved cars too...just not Cadillac's. He had 2 requests from me. "Cremate me, I don't wanna be in the ground," and "Have them play 'If Heaven Ain't a Lot Like Dixie' by Hank Jr." This song hits home for me hard.

@@RockN2Country "daughter." LOL I like the G3 tag. Thanks! ;-) Quick explanation. My husband and I share a home (all four names are on the mortgage) with our youngest daughter (of six kids...his one, my four, and our one...three boys and three girls). She and her husband have seven children of their own (she and I homeschool them). They are part of the 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to which we lay claim.
Judi and I are probably the most alike of all of the kids, but one thing all of us share is consuming love for music. :-)
