Beautiful work, Cy. Love the parrot. I have Judy’s feathered friends pattern to do some of these days and I’ll definitely be using some stain now I’ve seen how well it worked for you. Thanks as always for the video. 👍🏻
Hey Humphrey! Thanks! The stain worked better than I expected. Here in the comments someone mentioned a stain called Trans Tint Dye Stains. Said they can be water or alcohol based or something like that. I am going tonbe checking them out if I do more staining. I love that pattern of Judy's, you could do some amazing colors with it!!!!
@@caspianofnarnia 🤣 I've used a similar dye for resin and it was 1-3 drops for about 6 cups of resin. So perhaps it the same? Guess a call to the manufacturer would tell us how long the string is! 🤣
WOWOW! Cy, this is gorgeous! I don't know if you have tried this, but I have seen in woodworking videos, where you can put small amount of course salt in between glued pieces preventing them from shifting. I have nor tried this, but thought I would throw it our there!!
This works well. Use the salt sparingly as only a few crystals are necessary to provide the gritty grip. Small amounts of salt will not affect glue adhesion. The glue is water-based and the salt will eventuslly dissolve.
I have heard about salt helping with that, I even have a small salt shaker in the shop but never thought of trying it with intarsia pieces. I always think of when you clamp something together and it shifts and how the salt helps that. But it probably would help an intarsia piece from shifting! Thanks!

Absolutely beautiful craftsmanship. If you need deep penetrating stain try TransTint dye stains. They can be mixed with water or alcohol ( I use 90% rubbing alcohol) or 50/50 H2O and alcohol. Again stunning project, loved the video.
